Juniper (jooniperd) Hi Fiona.

I really enjoy using Book Mooch. Here is the link for my page.

The journal concept is intriguing. I suppose, rather than releasing the book into the Book Mooch universe, you want to circulate it among TNBBC members who are interested in participating. Is that right?

Nancy Here is my Bookmooch page. I have only two books listed right now, but I will be adding more soon. I will gladly swap overseas.

Kaz (imuzak12) | 4 comments I use Bookmooch too, and my page is here.

I don't have many books on my inventory right now, but I don't mind sending books to overseas, maybe one book a month. When I add new books, I usually save them for my friends for a week in case they're interested in.

Caz | 18 comments I don't use bookmooch (well not yet) but I like the idea og a TNBBC journal. It might be a good idea to set up a new thread to see who is interested and discuss ideas for it etc? xx

Marisa Atkinson (totesmarisa) | 28 comments How do you all find that Bookmooch compares to the Goodreads Swap? I LOVE the Goodreads Swap and have both given away and received a ton of books that way. But I still have a ton more to swap that aren't moving on GR so I'm considering joining Bookmooch as well. I notice that you do have to pay your own shipping to swap the books, however. Doesn't that get expensive? On the other hand, it's international, right?

Opinions greatly appreciated! Thx!

Marisa Atkinson (totesmarisa) | 28 comments Hi Fiona,

Thanks for all of the additional info. One of the reasons I was attracted to Bookmooch was because it allows international swapping. Until GR allows international swapping, I'm still dying to swap for UK books that aren't available here yet.

I also checked out PaperbackSwap, and it looks like you still have to pay postage on your end when another user requests your book. Is PaperbackSwap also international? I browsed their site but it was really hard to tell. Fiona, do you use this as well? Would you recommend it over either of the other programs?

Anyone also using PaperbackSwap? Any thoughts or opinions on how all three (GR Swap, Bookmooch, and PBSwap) compare to one another?

However, if you want books that aren't available there bookmooch might not get you them any faster.

Check out www.bookdepository.co.uk it offers free delivery, it is..."

I've definitely been snooping around the bookdepository site, and have a list of things to order! I just thought it would be fun to join a swapping program that swaps internationally and am trying to figure out which is the best to join. It sounds like Bookmooch is the way to go...

Marisa Atkinson (totesmarisa) | 28 comments When GR gets international swap that will be perfect! I use the GR Swap all the time and it seems to have a nice rotation of new books.

For now, I might try Bookmooch. (If I don't get impatient and wind up ordering a ton of stuff at bookdepository, that is...!)

Esther (eshchory) | 575 comments I love bookmooch and I do feel righteous about the amount of my books now being enjoyed by new owners.
The problem is resisting the urge to trade in all those hard earned points.
My poor husband gets a panicked look every time I receive a book-shaped package in the post :0)

I've been tidying up my children's bookcases (a lot of books in nearly new condition) and I sent some to Japan so I have well over 20 points now. Ouch!!
I might have to smooch some just for the sake of my husband's sanity.

Esther (eshchory) | 575 comments I find that about 2/3 of what I list gets rquested in the first 24hrs. The rest just sit there.

I signed up for bookmooch but haven't started yet. I'd really rather not let the books I list sit for a year or more, so I'm thinking about double posting them...on PBS and BM.

For those that have both, which do you prefer?

message 15: by Clara (new)

Clara | 157 comments I am in both PBS and bookmooch my knick name is avinclara on Paperbackswap. On Bookmooch, I am avinclara as well.

Caity (adivineeternity) I could have sworn I posted in here saying I'm on Paperbackswap. Apparently I didn't. I'm adivineeternity on there, so... yeah. Cool! :-D

Esther (eshchory) | 575 comments Due to Bookmooch I am beginning to be a bit of an expert on comparative postal rates - Switzerland and Canada are expensive, UK and US average, Japan and Latin America surprisingly cheap!

I prefer paperbackswap -- I find it an easier user interface, but have definitely moved some books on Bookmooch also.

message 24: by Derek (new)

Derek | 4 comments I use paperbackswap and swap.com. I like swap.com because I also watch a lot of movies so with swap you can trade movies for books or vice versa
