Lenore (lenorenrr) | 528 comments I have ordered off of BD a few times. Other than the fact that it takes a little longer for books to get to the US from the UK I really like it. I was looking to pre-order a few books that I thought were only in hardback. BD says that this book Radiant Shadows by Melissa Marr comes out 2 days later in paperback (which is $10 cheaper than the hardback) I checked and according to Amazon and BN the ISBN assigned to it does not exist. Can someone explain this?

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 737 comments I use BD all of the time, but I'm in the UK. As far as Radiant Shadows goes, you're not finding it on amazon.com or B&N because it's a UK edition. If you search for the ISBN on amazon.co.uk the book is returned.

Lenore (lenorenrr) | 528 comments So if I ordered it from BD it would be the same book, just the UK version? I just don't want to order the book and it be wrong because of my ignorance lol.

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 737 comments Same book, and even the same cover, just in paperback form. It isn't uncommon for a series to go out in hardcover in the US but still be released in paperback in the UK.

Lenore (lenorenrr) | 528 comments Great. Thanks. One more question, Gena Showalter's Darkest Passion releases June 1 here. On BD there is that copy plus another that is the large paperback that says it is being released May 21, 1010. Why is that? I thought books (as a general rule) came out in the US before the UK?

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 737 comments That is usually the case - however BD delivered my copy of Richelle Mead's Succubus Shadows today, where as the US version isn't released until the 30th. There's no hard and fast rule on release dates, so it's always worth checking both. =) Ooh, but Aeron's story, eh? I think I best go put a pre-order in.

Lenore (lenorenrr) | 528 comments I can't wait for his story. I love Gena Showalter. Okay, I think I will go complete the order then. Thanks!

Lenore (lenorenrr) | 528 comments U.S dollars for me.

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 737 comments There's a drop down for the prices so you can choose. At home, I get Pounds, but when I log on at work (A US military base), I get Dollars. =)

Mel W (melw) | 411 comments I like the free shipping too! Where I live (Dubai, UAE) postage, in and out, can be expensive.

message 11: by Lenore (new)

Lenore (lenorenrr) | 528 comments I love the free shipping! But with me being in the U.S it can take up to 2 weeks to get the books. However the lack of tax and shipping is worth it.

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 737 comments Yeah, I am constantly on there ordering single titles, where if I ordered through amazon or B&N, I would wait until I had several titles so the total would be enough for the free shipping.

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 112 comments I thought shipping was free with Amazon or is that just the UK site?

I love Book Depository they have a wider range of books than Amazon and are often cheaper.

Steph (angel4492) | 177 comments Amy, I have free shipping on Amazon, but it's b/c we pay a yrly fee for "Amazon Prime" which gives you free 2-day shipping on a lot of items (all books are free).

I'm anxious to figure out my new local address here so I can start ordering from BD again. Their prices are well worth the wait time.

I received my copy of Shift days before it was released in the US and that was even after waiting 7+ days for it to arrive by mail. Gotta love that! :)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 112 comments Steph, I received Shift from them a couple of weeks before the release date, I was ecstatic! DarkHeart is actually the one that alerted me to it's early release from them. :)

In the UK, Amazon have free "Super Saver Delivery" on most items but there is an "Amazon Prime" service too which I've considered but I use BD a lot more than Amazon these days.

I know, right? :) I'm always checking there first now for any new releases I'm dyin' to get my hands on in case they ship earlier. LOVE it!

We're livin' overseas, so the 2-day free shipping w/our Amazon Prime doesn't really get me anything in two days. But, at least it saves us on shipping, if we can't get it sooner from somewhere else.

Mel W (melw) | 411 comments I don't qualify for free shipping from Amazon because I live outside the UK/US, that's why I like BD.
