I haven't read any of his books. But it sounds like I should.

I just got a copy of Beautiful Creatures from my great aunt for my B-day. It was on hold at B&N and while she was there to pick hers up she seen it there. Great surprise. I told her the book was so good that I had to have my own copy. Thanks to her I'll be re-reading soon.

June's challenge is re-reading. Dust a few books off in the back of your shelf and give your books a another chance at life.

Join the challenge and re-read a book! Old, new, favorite, classic, hated it, don't remember it. Give the book another whirl.

If you except the Re-Reading Challenge I'll be seeing you on the June Challenge Thread!

Were you one of the people who liked or disliked the host?

Caitlin | 13 comments I used to reread books constantly. When I was younger, it was The Chronicles of Narnia. When I was a little older, one of the Harry Potters. Now, I usually flip through Outlander, by Diana Gabaldon. Although, it's probably inaccurate to call it "re-reading". Because of classes, I've not allowed myself to start many new books, so I "re-read" my old favorites. Basically, when I have the time and get the urge to read, I'll re-read my favorite scenes or just randomly open the book and start reading (Outlander is 1000+ pages, so it's always something different). In this way, I'm not too distracted from schoolwork, as I already know what's going to happen.

But yeah, if it weren't for school, I'd definitely be rereading a lot more! I keep ALL of my books, I just can't bear to part! I really want to be involved on paperbackswap.com, but I have nothing I want to swap! Le sigh. I guess it's my one weakness. To be fair, though, I'm absolutely NOT materialistic about anything other than books...

Andrez (andrez-ssi) i know what you mean, im exactly like you - once theyre mine, theyre here to stay

message 57: by Ilana (new)

Ilana (ilanamasad) I totally concur. I'm a greedy-guts when it comes to my books. I spend way way way too much money on them, because I just keep buying new ones... I love having my own copies of my favorite books.

message 58: by [deleted user] (new)

I usually read books from the library but when I find ones I want then I buy them because I know I'll read them several times over. So, they are mine.

message 59: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer I am the same way, unless I really couldn't stand a book (like 4 Blondes, I hated that book and didn't want it to sully my bookcase or the rest of my books. But that's the only one) or if its a duplicate, I've done that on accident a time or two! So I keep one, the one I've already read, and give the other to either the local senior center, a local bookstore that takes used books or half price books.

message 60: by [deleted user] (new)

Me too. I noticed I have two Marked books so I put one on swap.

Some books I'm glad I got at the library because they were so not good and I would of been mad about wasting my money!

message 61: by Lynda (new)

Lynda I keep my favorite books and reread them often. I have some books that I have been rereading occasionally for 40+ years.

Sometimes when a new book is due to come out in a series, I will reread the whole series.

If I rate a book 5 stars, the chances are I will read it twice before rating it. I like to savor the best.

As several people have mentioned, I buy books that I read through the library that I really liked.

message 62: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Pfaff (kl_pfaff) I buy books after reading them through the library too. Sometimes I will finish something and think that it was THAT good. Recently those purchases were City of Bones, City of Ashes, and soon to be City of Glass and Leviathan.

I love the library for that great service of saving me money :)

Recently re-read the first Harry Potter, it has been 9 years. And re-read Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer.

I remember why I don't want to re-read it. *Sigh, remembers disappointment*

Don't forget to re-read Graceling while you are re-reading! *Evil grin*

Jen (In the Closet With a Bibliophile) (Jen_thebibliophile) | 300 comments eewwwww, yuck! *sneers*

message 69: by [deleted user] (new)

*Wow, calm down. Yup, I'm really laughing out loud! Loudly!*

So, Jen. I take it you don't care for Graceling. Ouch! But it has such lovely cover art. My dear, that isn't very nice at all. *Says all of this with snooty voice*

message 70: by Jen (new)

Jen (In the Closet With a Bibliophile) (Jen_thebibliophile) | 300 comments Lyssa, you are so right, the cover art is quite nice. However I do feel, and I know most don't concur, Cashore was not the most wonderful author there. Yes, I hear that Fire was excellent, but *grimaces* I just don't know about that.

*seriously, I might need to potty*

message 71: by [deleted user] (new)

*LMAO*

My my my. Haven't we cleaned up, alas, I would have to agree with you. Perhaps, I will have to save my glove slap duel for a different book. ta ta

*walks away stiffly gracefully*

Mutters under breath, "Dang corset!"

Melanie Jackson (melaniejaxn) | 8 comments I do reread certain seasonal books-- like A Christmas Carol. Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without Dickens.
