Olivia (goochie1998) | 3 comments Hi there! My name is Olivia, I am fourteen years old and I live in Canada. I joined goodreads a few weeks ago, and I have been exploring it ever since. It seems like such a great site! Now that school is over and summer has started, I aim to read a LOT. So I thought this would be the perfect place to start. I absolutely love teen fantasy books, and dystopian ones are a personal favouritw. This looks like such a great group, and for years I have wanted to be in a book club. I can't wait to meet other fellow book lovers, and hopefully contribute to the club. Nice meeting y'all!

I still like to read other stuff of course. Right now my favorite is the Anita Blake series by Laruell K. Hamilton. I can't put these books down. I am on book 20 and there is 21 books I started maybe a little over a month ago, so I am almost done sadly. It'll be nice to have this group to see what other good books I could find and read! :)

message 873: by Caren (new)

Caren | 4 comments Hi I'm Caren and like every body else in this club I love to read any stories that involve Vampires. When I was in School I never liked to read but of course I had too read for school and all thoes books were boring. I have always loved vampire movies so when the twilight movies came out I went and saw the first movie and the next day at work when I was telling my friend about the movie she informed me that the movie was based on a book series and those books were very good. Even though I didnt like reading I took a chance and got the first book and thats how I Became obsessed with books. I know twilight is for a younger croud but I do love them; but I have read alot of vampire books and my tops for this month are Jeaniene Frost night Huntress series and Laruell Hamilton's Anita Blake series.

message 875: by Timothy (new)

Timothy (timothyniedermann) | 5 comments I’d like to introduce the first volume in my new “Werewolf Priest” series, A Purer Evil. It’s dark, different, and, I hope, a little more challenging than the usual paranormal fare. It is about a man fighting against his inner urges, trying desperately to channel them before they destroy him.

The story line revolves around Arthur Lehmann, an Episcopal priest in rural Ohio, who is despondent after losing his pregnant wife in a car crash. His bishop has given him a small parish in order to help him recover. His progress is slow. One night, walking his dog at dusk, he is injured by an onrushing animal of some kind that is chasing a deer. Lehmann is unhurt except for a deep scar on his arm that for some reason is very slow to heal.

Subsequent to the injury he finds his zest for life returning, almost too much so. His senses become alive once more but then seem to gain a hold over him. At times, he has to struggle to retain his priestly composure. He wonders what is happening to him.

Meanwhile, in the course of his priestly duties, he stumbles upon the hidden trail of a serial child molester. One child is pregnant; another, he eventually discovers, is dead. As Lehmann pieces the clues together, they point to a trusted teacher who it appears has been demanding sex for good grades. Lehmann’s moral outrage fuels something stronger within him, and when the teacher is found horribly mutilated, Lehmann wonders what he has become. But to the reader, it is clear, he is a werewolf.

This is intended to be a series of books that reaches deep into Lehmann’s moral being as he discovers, denies, then accepts what he is. He then encounters other supernatural creatures. But these creatures are very different; they are flawed, tortured, and vulnerable despite their powers. All through the books, Lehmann encounters evil as well, but the evil, more often that not, is human.

There are free sample downloads of the first few chapters on Amazon, CreateSpace, Smashwords, and Goodreads. Thanks, Timothy Niedermann

Hi Timothy we have an area set aside just for self promotion. This isn't quite the place for it,as this is an introduce yourself topic.
What you can do is copy and paste your above comment into the right area.
By the way you book sounds great. :o)

Tanya (tkgough) | 6 comments Hi, I'm Tanya. I read heavily in both Fantasy and SciFi, but I've recently been on a bit of a horror kick. Some of my favourites include Anno Dracula by Kim Newman, The Night Watch series by Sergei Lukyanenko, and I'm currently finishing up The Night Eternal in Guillermo del Toro/Chuck Hogan's The Strain series.

When I'm not reading, I'm writing my own children's fantasy adventure series. I'd love recommendations for great new fantasy authors.

Great to meet you all.

Adele (mooturtil) | 1749 comments Mod
Lol no biting! That's my job!

message 886: by Yvonne (new)

Yvonne Bruton | 7 comments Hi Tanya I haven't stalked anyone for a while really, it's horribly frowned upon here in the UK some people can be so intolerant! However there is always a solution to every problem so I've taken to creating really buff characters in my books and I stalk them in my head - no complaints, no cops, no restraining orders!

message 887: by Tanya (new)

Tanya (tkgough) | 6 comments I know the feeling, Yvonne. When you say you're going to stalk someone here in Canada, people think you're going to hit them with corn. Sigh.

Adele, who said anything about biting? We're just stalking really buff characters in dark alleyways and...oh, right. Yeah, we can't make any promises.

Christina Witt | 1 comments Hello Everyone! My name is Christina. I live in Destin, Florida. My addiction to paranormal books started after I have read the Twilight series and 4 years and 80-something books later here I am! I love how paranormal book give the characters more options to change their story and I can never guess what they are going to do next. The next books I am going to read are the last three books of the night-huntress series. I have put it off too long, but I didn't want the story to end. After that, I don't know. Whichever one I feel like reading, I guess. Thank you for letting me be in your book club. I always wanted to be in one!
