Charles Keith Hardman (ckhardman) I don't need good luck. I need readers. Welcome that to your following..

message 952: by Erin (new)

Erin (manticcherry) Hi everyone, I'm Erin! I am not an aspiring writer really... though I did kick around trying my hand for National Novel Writing Month in November. Maybe one day... until then though I am an avid reader and am lucky enough to have a job where I can "read" audio books in addition to reading hard copies or ebooks in my free time. It's funny I stumbled into this group because one of my coworkers just recommended your Book of the Month to me and I'm going to start it shortly! :) I look forward to discussing with you all!!

Hello James, thanks for posting in the authors unite topic. I've almost finished your book .so far I'm amazed!

message 960: by James (new)

James Loftus | 1 comments Adele that is so very very awesome! What a long journey from a boy who couldn't read - till grade five, did the whole remedial thing, thank God for a top teacher - and now ... I'm a writer!

message 961: by Jhada (new)

Jhada Addams (ninjacooter) | 4 comments Hi! I'm Jhada. I guess I'm more into the erotic horror type stories about vamps, werewolves and the like. When I was growing up there wasn't much around other than Poppy Z Brite's Lost Souls, Nancy A Collins' Sonja Blue, Anne Rice's vampires - and later came the Blood Ties books by Tanya Huff - although it's an enormous genre with lots of different writers now.

I guess I can add my name to the fray of authors as well, having contributed with a vampire type novel of my own.

Nice to meet you all! :)

Welcome to the group Jhada.
If you need any help at all, don't be afraid to ask. Also if you see a conversation(or potential for one) just join in... we promise not to bite. And I only nibble sometimes.

Walter Spence (walterspence) Now don’t dawdle, I’m not going to bite. Though I have been known to take a little nip now and then. - Penelope Ember

Sorry Adele. Couldn't help myself. ;)

Greetings, everyone. My name is Walter Spence, and I'm fairly new to Goodreads; joined just a couple of months ago. Have been a fan of vampire literature for many, many years. In fact, one of my first short stories was a different take on the vampire mythos titled "It Is Not The Night That Kills, But The Frost".

(Hope that reference is appropriate. It's not advertising, since the story isn't currently in print.)

So very pleased to be here. I love this genre, and hope that we writers (with the aid of the readers) continue to keep it fresh and interesting.

message 969: by CJ (last edited Sep 20, 2012 12:56AM) (new)

CJ | 5 comments Hello, you can call me Lim. I come from Singapore and love fantasy with a touch of romance(because it's interesting. I'm not gay). Well, I love reading about vampires too, fangs and all. I've always thought the Internet was the greatest invention. The bookstores around me don't sell much paranormal or fanstasy stuff and my local library plain sucks. Now, I get to buy everything from Amazon. Nice to meet you.

Welcome to our group everyone!

M.O.Kenyan and Rasheedah, you might want to check our group rules before you go and promote anywhere. Any queries please let me know.

Ashley, a lot of us - including myself - have dreams of becoming a writer. Don't give up :o)

Yvette , this group was the very fist book club I joined. Now look at me! Lol
I hope you have a wonderful experience with the world of online book clubs.

If anyone is after book recommendations we have the genres folder... where recommendations are sorted into genres. We also have a series folder. Where we chat about our favourite series...yes I know there are heaps missing, so I have a questions and suggestions area set up for your series suggestions( and other group suggestions)
So go and explore around and if you need help just ask me.

Rasheeda, I'm sorry if my message confused you. I want you to know I wasn't saying to you that you can't promote in the group. I was just letting you know that there are places you can promote and the group rules tell you where...as well as tell you the rules lol. On second thoughts that might have been easier to say that, than what I said. I can be a bit silly at times.

message 985: by Maxien (new)

Maxien Gorry (maxien78) G'day! I'm Maxien from Cheltenham, UK. I love vampire stories but I prefer the kind with a twist. The less romance the better BUT I'm not completely against the love stories as long as the love doesn't take over.

My favourite authors are (in no particular order) James Herbert, Tess Gerritsen, Richelle Mead, P C &, Kristen cast and a few more.

I, at one time, would turn my nose up at supernatural and vampire stories but I fell across the 1st House of Night novel and was hooked. I have since read and LOVED the Vampire Academy series (my favourite by far), the Morganville Vampire series., the House of Night series and a few more. The only series I do not like is the Twilight series... Including the films.

Anyways... Happy to be here and hope to share with you all again soon. :-) xx

Anyway there are a few discussions you might like to join, so go ahead and join in a discussion if you want.

message 987: by Robin (new)

Robin I love PCCast too I loved House of night for awhile but the story got stuck in book 4 or 5 I just felt like it was not going anywhere I got annoyed. Silly I know but I did love at the start. The same happened with other books.
I would love to recommend. Breed by Meade and JR Ward BdB bothate great, another favorite is IAD Immortals After Dark Kresely Cole and if you want less romance try demonica

message 988: by Mary (new)

Mary (mary-atupele) | 1 comments Hey, I'm Mary. I love reading mostly paranormal romances. Give me anything with vampires, ghosts, werewolves, witches and fey and I 'm game. :-P I'm obsessed with the Vampire Accademy and Bloodlines series by Richelle Mead, I just can't get enough! ;-)

message 989: by Kelly (new)

Kelly E. (KellyEGrant) | 6 comments Hi everyone, I'm Kelly, and I'm in Melbourne, Australia. I'm a a reader-holic, devouring at least one book a day, my favorite genre is definitely urban fantasy, and fav book recently is possibly Rivers of London by Ben Aaronovitch, though that changes ALL the time. Enjoyed City of Angels series, but its getting a bit so-so now. Not sure I'll bother with the next one.

I have just published my first e-book, which I'd say is dark fantasy (alas, no Vampires, but don't let that put you off). I'll post that up to Adele's new authors list. THANK YOU Adele for this forum, it looks awesome, and I'm going to enjoy reading everyone's recommendations. Already thinking I have to look into this HON series. I like my vamps DARK, and please, they have to go POOF in the sunlight - so suggestions along that vein (he he) are very welcome. What's your own fav?

Hi. Kelly, I'm in melbourne too!
As you have already discovered we have heaps of areas for reccomendation discussions, just join in if want. And recommend some too while you are at it.

Mary, you have found the right group. We all love some variant of the paranormal, as well as Sci fi And Fantasy.

Robin you are going to have to convince me to read IAD series...I just couldn't get into it!
I'll give it a go again. I'm in the middle of reading about the argeneau family.
I'm a bit immersed in their world right now.
Anyway welcome to the group everyone :o)

message 991: by Jill (new)

Jill Narin | 1 comments Hi
i love all things supernatural - especially vampire relate, even though i may be considered too old for this type of genre

message 992: by Colleen (new)

Colleen (colleenjones83) Hello every1. Robin, I would recommend trying to read further in the HON series. I thought in book 4 and 5 the story kinda died but pick it up at book 6 it really does get a lot better and the rest of the series is excellent and I for one am really looking forward to reading book 10 after all the other books I have to read.

message 993: by Michelle (last edited Dec 20, 2012 08:06AM) (new)

Michelle (quill_n_ink) | 5 comments Hello from Texas. I've always enjoyed classic horror movies, Dracula etc., but have only recently discovered paranormal books. I was a little behind on the whole Twilight craze. Once I watched the first movie, I was hooked! Read the series in a week. Along with a new love of vampire stories, I renewed my love of reading. Since Twilight and FSoG, I've read an incredibly large number of books this summer. A new favorite is SE Lund's Dominion Series. Posted about it in the PNR and 18+ threads. Really good! Hope to learn about other PNR books and authors in this group.

message 1000: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Stultz (wicketwillowbean) | 1 comments My name is Elizabeth and I'm more or less obsessed with vampires. I have been for as long as I can remember. I, however, am not a fan of Twilight. I read part of the first book and couldn't bring myself to finish it. It just wasn't my cup of tea. Anyway, I'm a huge fan of Anne Rice and Poppy Z. Brite. I also, in a bind, like the Sonja Blue books. Two of my favorite vampire books, really anthologies, are Love in Vein (both books 1 and 2) and The Best of Dreams of Decadence.

I look forward to meeting new friends and taking part in book discussions.

-Elizabeth
