Hey. I'm Rebecca. I was born in Chicago. I love to read. If i cant read something wonderful every day of the week, i honestly cant breathe. My favorite author would either be Stephen Chbosky or John Green but i loved the "Twilight" series and "The Host" but i could barely make it through the first book of "The Vampire Diaries" series even though i loved the t.v show. I adore the "Bloodlines" series and the "Trylle" series. Why live in your own boring life when you can escape somewhere only you know? I love fantasy.

Hello all. It's been a while since I was on Goodreads, so much has happened that I haven't been able to come on as often, I've been in talks with two US Producers who expressed an interest in having them made into films - so contracts were signed last January - now it's a waiting game...

My second book in the JOS trilogy came out in March, it's not doing too bad. Still a lot of reviewers who had ARC's still unaccounted for, but that's how it goes.

I love the recommendation area. yes I know I set it up and yes it kinda is my baby but its just great seeing people's favorite books.

the most interesting is a tie between this topic and the where in the world are you topic. its interesting meeting new members but also finding out where they are in the world. you guys are from everywhere! we even have a member from the Czech Republic! a few from Australia and heaps from various parts of the US. thats not the entire list mind you. im compiling it gradually, but its still awesome!

I'm Miss, live in NY (upstate, near the lake, suburb of Rochester) with my other half (he'd tell you he's my better half) & our cat. I read paranormal romance, & prefer vampires to the other supernatural critters. Some favorites: Argeneau, Night Huntress, BDB, Demonica & LOD, Chicagoland, Dark Protectors. I've picked up so many new to me authors from Goodreads, Thank you. The recommendations & the challenges are my favorite part of the site.

Hi everyone, I'm Tom Wolfem and just recently discovered Goodreads (dunno how it took so long!). It's nice to find a group that's welcoming to writers as well as readers. I've always been intrigued by the paranormal/vampire genres, but never had enough time to give them a red-hot go. Anyone know any 'must reads' I can check out to get started?

check out the recommendation folder and we have them sorted by genre.
if your looking at a starter why not just join in on a challenge or our BOM? this month we are continuing a series but you are more than welcome to read the first and then read the second with us!
my starter paranormal was born in twilight by maggie shayne.... its book 5 or so of a series.
i went on to read twilight series believing it was the next book! boy was i wrong!
twilight was ok but there are better authors and better books out there!
id provide you with links to the recommendation folder but then you would miss other cool topics!

I find that men have slightly different likes in the paranormal and fantasy genre. Some of those books that both my son and husband liked were less on the romantic side (sex) and more on the plot.

Patricia Briggs' Mercy Thompson series starting with Moon Called,
Kevin Herne's, The Iron Druid series starting with Hounded
And Ilona Andrews (a husband wife writing team) write the Kate Daniel series, starting with Magic Bites

These 3 were their picks for the UF book. If you do like the paranormal romance then Kresley Cole's Immortals After Dark is one of my favorites, A Hunger Like No Other

Just letting you know that my husband son and nephew who are not big fans of reading enjoyed the Dresden file series by Jim Butcher. My husband also got hooked on the Terry Goodkind series.

oooh connie, i loved the dresden series too! its hard for me to recommend books to males as i dont have any in my life that read! im a lonely reader! this is where this group comes i handy!
if you have any other books to recommend head over to the links i previously supplied a couple of comments ago and let us know there!
the same might be recommended over and over but i think that shows how good a book is and i love hearing about why they loved a particular book or series.

the only buddy reads at the moment are the anita blake one and the breed series ones, they have been inactive for a couple of months now, maybe you might be the life that they need!
