i love reading just about anything that catches me on the first page. My favourite book series is the blood of Eden series. I am currently reading 16 books.
Wow! Look at all the new people! WElcome everyone! Thanks for sharing your information it is great to see fellow Horrow and Christmas freaks!
On the name thing... That irritates me so bad! I have always wanted to name my child Anastasia and when I got pregnant, I wanted to name her Anastasia. I was six months pregnant and the singer Anastacia comes out... When my child was born everyone thought I named my child after her. Screw you, I named her after a Romanov.
THIS is proof of why the world is going to hell! People think we name out children after pop stars and movie characters! Mroe history, less testing people! It drives me nuts. No one knows about the Russian Revolution, but they all know about the movie Anastasia and think that Rasputan tried to kill her.. NO!!
Ok, I am venting... I need to calm down.

Welcome to our ever growing group Anna and Kalia.
Kalia, we try not to be scary. but i'm so glad you were able to make a comment. you have jumped the biggest hurdle it should be a breeze from now on.
If you or anyone has any questions or just needs a bit of help with the group. Please don't hesitate to contact one of the moderators. believe me we are all friendly!
Anna, Lurking is good, Commenting is much more fun! but it all depends on what you are like really. I know a lot of people don't comment due to comfort levels or feel that they just don't have much to say. what do you think makes you lurk?
sorry this is a subject i have great interest in as i try to get people to participate as much as possible.... even if it is once a month! i feel i wouldn't be doing my moderator duties if i didn't care and ask you the ever so hard questions!

Mostly, it's a question of time. Family, friends, work, reading... It's easier to read comments than to compose my own. Also, as a new novelist, I haven't had time to write in months, so whatever time I can glean from my barren chrono-fields will cultivate a crop of new paragraphs, possibly fertilized with an occasional metaphor... (What's the emoticon for a wink?)

Sounds like fun, interesting, I just don't do any serious horror myself.
@Adele ;-)

I'm R. Kain, an author and a reader. I mostly enjoy Urban Fantasy, but I branch out every now and again. Some of my favorite stories are Dresden Files and The Necromancer Chronicles (The second one is my favorite and not simply because of the vampire-driven mystery).
Hello R! Welcome to the group, jump right in, and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ring!
Thank you Anna for answering my curiosity. i know what it is like to have little time. this year i am undertaking the biggest challenge of my life so far.... two diplomas at the same time. it leave very little time to read but i am quite enjoying whatever audiobooks i can get my mitts on!
R, i abandoned the Dresden files for some reason. i must see if i can get back into them as they were always an entertaining read.
the necromancer chronicle i have heard lots about. but i have never had the chance to read them.
welcome to the group anyway.
and don't worry Mr. E we haven't forgotten about you. please drop into the members work area if you haven't already.

For me, vampires are the top of the paranormal tree and I'm doing everything I can to reclaim the genre from the horrors of sparklyness!
yay tamara! glad you said hello welcome to the group.
and welcome to the group to you too chris, we try to be a sparkle free zone but occasionally the topic comes up. but we usually get things back on track!

Sparkles... *cringe* NO SPARKLES! Kiefer Sutherland never sparkled! Welcome to the group Chris & Tamara!

Ooo... that sounds like my husband. He likes to have my ear on books but I guess I have too many for him to keep track of. I think he stole my White Trash Zombie Gone Wild on his way to work.
Welcome to the club.
@all- I'm so glad I have never endured vampire sparklyness. I try to avoid the YA

it is why i originally joined this group.
welcome to the group liz.

Been a member of this group for ages, but I have so little time to catch up... am I the only one struggling?
Have a great week :)

Yep, I was a Twilight junkie too, but my daughter beats me hands down. She's read Eclipse so many times it looks a like a dog mangled it! :)
Hi Vanessa, I'm struggling too and i'm a mod! lol
take your time if you can. you have at least done the big hurdle of commenting. most people don't take that step... we have even promised nobody will bite! lol
seriously though welcome and thanks for saying hi.

how on earth are you able to tell in they are chewing gum or not.... blowing bubbles i guess????
hmm that is a tough one. what type/genre of book does it have to be?. i'm sure there are a few urban fantasies or young adult books that would have it.i'll check my collection of urban fantasies and get back to you.

My name is Anna Runes, and I’m a horror addict. (Group response: “Hi, Anna.”)
My introduction to reading novels was my dad’s collection of Tom Swift novels from when he was a kid. Although the series was written for boys, it had kids as heroes, as villains and as every flavor between.
I've loved horror ever since reading my first collection of stories by H. P. Lovecraft. His stories were creepy, but I found an emotional connection that I didn’t find in books written (back then) for young girls.
My next breakthrough in horror was when I discovered Stephen King, although I’m still waiting for him to write The Definitive Ghost Story. Next, one of my teachers in middle school introduced me to Shirley Jackson, and I discovered that scary stories could also be deeply meaningful. For the first time, I wanted to write books, especially ghost stories inhabited by real people with real problems. I’ve just published my first book, but, sadly, there was a period of DECADES between my awakened desire to write horror stories and actually writing one! (I’m a proud member of PA: Procrastinators Anonymous.)
Along with ghosts, I like zombies, vampires, apocalyptic tableaus—pretty much all of it—but only when the stories are well written and focus on people. Yes, the protagonist is in a graveyard, but focus on how she feels, not how the gravestones look.
I’m mostly a lurker, not a commenter, but I look forward to learning from writers and readers here and in my other Goodreads groups.
