Nancy | 2838 comments Here's a fun and easy game.

It starts out with three statements about yourself, two of which are false and one a truth.

The first person to guess correctly which one is true will write three statements about themselves, two lies and one truth. And so on.

Let the game begin.

I'll start.

1. I was left back in the fifth grade.
2. I was caught shoplifting when I was 14.
3. I was suspended from school twice for fighting.

TWO WEEKS! Did you knock out some teeth or something? I like the "I didn't start it, but I'll finish it" philosophy of life :)

lol! No teeth were knocked out, but a lock of hair was pulled out (not mine) and my science teacher fell and hit his head on the corner of a desk while trying to break us up. I thought for sure it would be the end of my brief life. Surprisingly, my dad took my side and tried to get the suspension revoked. When that didn't work, he took me to the zoo, the park, the beach. It was the most fun I've had with him.

message 18: by Nancy (new)

Nancy | 2838 comments I actually didn't find out I had such an infamous "neighbor" until I learned of it from an article in the NY Post long after he and his mom moved out and after he started his crime spree.

It creeped me out to think that I could have ridden on the elevator with him.

Your turn, Ralph. :)

message 21: by Nancy (new)

Nancy | 2838 comments Ralph, I think I'll hold off on answering to give someone else a chance. :)

Doug, your true crime seminar sounds like fun! Will you have any authors as guests?

message 22: by Nancy (new)

message 23: by Ralph Gallagher (new)

Ralph Gallagher | 210 comments Nope! I've won NaNoWriMo the past two years. (The only years I've participated. =P)

message 24: by Nancy (new)

Nancy | 2838 comments Just curious...how do you win NaNoWriMo? Is it based on the amount or quality of your writing, or is it random?

message 25: by Ralph Gallagher (new)

Ralph Gallagher | 210 comments You have to write 50,000 words to "win" NaNoWriMo. =)

2) I deleted my facebook account this week.

3) I deleted my goodreads profile.

message 29: by Ez (new)

Ez (ezrah-rah) I'm guessing #1, Scott.

message 30: by Ralph Gallagher (new)

Ralph Gallagher | 210 comments Number 2. =)

message 31: by Scott (new)

Scott (scottmillerdc) | 92 comments Harper - I don't really get/understand the appeal, but I have an account and I haven't deleted it yet.

Ralph - You are correct - I deleted my facebook profile.

message 32: by Nancy (new)

Nancy | 2838 comments Why did you delete Facebook, Scott? I don't have Twitter and don't think that anyone really cares about what I had for lunch or if I had a bad day at work. What sorts of things do people generally Tweet about?

message 33: by Scott (new)

Scott (scottmillerdc) | 92 comments Well, none of my friends have added me really, so I don't really get it. I have yet to find an android app that really works with twitter. I might spend a little time playing with it, but overall, I am unimpressed.

I did find their planned advertising strategy interesting - they are now going to infiltrate your "feed" with advertisers. They are going to have to walk a fine line there...like magazines that have "advertisement" at the top of an advert that reads like an article. I tend to stop reading magazines that overdo that strategy. Same concept to your feeds - a little thing that says "ohh yah, this message was paid for to appear in your list of folks".

Facebook gone - two reasons - one, I was spending too much time on it and don't have the time right now in my life for it.

two - they are a little to evil empire for me - "too big to fail comes to mind" - i am also extremely fed up with their biannual makeover that completely changes the functions of the website. I find I am less able to control lists and therefore privacy. I like to be able to look at the newest members and see what their privacy settings are. They removed that function and therefore I have to do a one by one/remember security check.

THE CREEPIEST PART: When I went to delete the profile, the traditional "are you sure you want to do this?" page popped up but with a new twist - it had five pictures at the top which all had a friend tagged along with myself and said "Jennie will miss you" "Michael will miss you" "Sherry will miss you". And I was thinking...they might not even notice I am gone...and I'm not going anywhere. I'm still here. It was SUPER creepy for me...Facebook doesn't know if they will miss me...

ugh.
thats my story.

your turn ralph.

p.s. a couple of my friends aren't getting and acting like I cut off a finger. and my boyfriend is highly agitated "I can't believe you did that"...of course, I was like "facebook is awesome, you should join". but i was the same about myspace - and it died...time for something new?

message 34: by Ez (new)

Ez (ezrah-rah) Aww, too bad. I guessed Twitter because I never understood the appeal so I never even started one. LOL.

That thing about FB showing you pics of your friends and saying "So and so will miss you" is definitely creepy...
