Courtney (mrs_hf) | 173 comments I'm having a lot of trouble getting through Shadow Game. The writing, honestly, feels like either a teenager is writing it or someone who doesn't quite have a full grasp of the english language. Not trying to be insulting in ANY way, it's just that she uses really weird or too simplistic descriptive words at times or she goes into really lengthy descriptions but changes topics/focus in a snap. I've read a few books from her Carpathians series and they weren't this bad...

So, has anyone else read anymore of the GhostWalkers series? Is this just the awkwardness of an author starting a new series? Does it get better with the other books? Am I just being crazy??

Courtney (mrs_hf) | 173 comments I'm really not trying to offend anyone that LOVES her. I'm just confused. :(

Jesslynn | 164 comments I dislike Christine Feehan. I have heard sooo many ppl love her and like you, I think her descriptions and style is just horrible.

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 737 comments I couldn't get into her Carpathians, but I actually really like her Ghostwalkers, for the most part. The first book wasn't my favorite, but that was more to do with the characters. If you find you simply don't like her writing style then I'd just move on. There are too many awesome authors out there to spend time on one that you don't enjoy. =)

I love Feehan's Ghostwalkers series, although I feel Shadow Game was the weakest of the series. I think it suffered from the classic first-book syndrome, and the scientific jargon did not make it very readable. Still after finishing, it made me want to read the entire series, and so far I have not regretted doing so. Although I've also read her Carpathian books, Ghostwalkers are still my favorite.

Feehan's writing style is very wordy. Some people can't stand it. So just like what DarkHeart said, if the book is not up to your liking, then skip it. Life is too short to read books you do not enjoy. : )

I HATE Christine Feehan, I've read almost all of her Carpathian series and they were horrible. Her descriptions are repetitious, and the heroin is always stubborn and stupid and can never seem to acclimate. I can't stand her at all. Oh and she doesn't use contractions - like don't or can't and its distracting.

Courtney (mrs_hf) | 173 comments Very true Tobin. Basically every single one of her heroines in the same. *sigh* I keep trying thinking that maybe it's just me so it makes me feel better that there are others who just don't get it.

She definitely has a fan base which is well deserved because she has written SO MANY books but it's just not my style. :(

I just read the first Carpathian book and I thought the heroine was one of the most obnoxious characters ever written! I think she was supposed to be independent but like you said she just came across as stubborn and stupid. I thought I'd give her another try and I tried her short story in Hot Blooded which was better, but not enough that I'd continue reading her. Before Goodreads, I might have, but I have a TBR of over 400 books - I'm sure I can find something better to read! :)
