Hi Cindy. I hope you like mark the books you have read as much as I do

message 52: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (mrst_292) | 25 comments I am loving this list! I was surprised to see how many genres I have read one or more books in. Makes me excited to keep expanding my base! I tend to read everything by an author I like and then move on to another author, but sometimes it's hard to find the next author. This is going to be so fun! I guess my To Read shelf is going to grow again!

Thanks for taking the time to create this group!

Welcome Nicole.

message 54: by Libbeth (new)

Libbeth (franacropan) I am still waiting for my copy of the book to arrive but I have already added books to my to-read list just from browsing this group. The list will expand a great deal, no doubt, once the book itself arrives.

message 55: by Kristen (new)

Kristen I just ordered the book from the lib and am looking forward to looking through it! Anyone have any recommendations?

message 56: by MJ, Idiot's Top libriarian (new)

MJ | 1332 comments Mod
Kristen, that depends on what you like to read. ;)

message 57: by Sunflower (new)

Sunflower | 33 comments Can I ask a stupid question? (ok, I'm going to anyway) What happens when we have been right through all the chapters in the book? Do we go back to the beginning and pick another read out of each chapter? Or do we quietly disband and go back to our usual genres without a backward glance????

message 58: by Melissa (new)

Melissa I vote for starting at Chapter One again! I've read a few things that I never would have picked up on my own and really liked them. Don't give up or I will!

I plan to keep going until I have read or tried to read every book in the book.

message 62: by Sunflower (new)

Sunflower | 33 comments Can't wait till my copy arrives and I can see just how much of a task that's going to be.

message 63: by Sunflower (new)

Sunflower | 33 comments I've just got my copy in the mail. I really like the way it includes some very recent writing. I just couldn't face the 1700's in "1001 books" and seems much more relevant than Time Out's "1000 books to change your life". I was disappointed because I couldn't find even one on their list that changed my life. Am I just hard to please? (don't answer that)

Ridan | 1 comments Sounds like a good book. I just ordered it and am interested in seeing what is there. I'm an intern for a small publisher so I get to explore books for my job!

Trisha I've only been a member for a short time but I just love how organized this group is! I just ordered my "Complete Idiot's" guide on-line (for a VERY small fee! I was surprised!) and I can't wait to get it! I just wanted to say great job on the group and thank you thank you for putting it out there! I'm excited to discuss books!

Trisha, thank you. & little OCD goes a long way when it comes to organizing. ;-) Please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions.

message 73: by Susan (new)

Susan (superbookfreak) I haven't read it, it sounds interesting.

Its a couple years old but I think it is full of so many good books that its worth reading. Of course you can always check out the list of books on this site.

message 75: by Trisha (new)

Trisha I have the book and am a little baffled. I read Treasure Island. I looked in the back and it says it's on page 150 (you know, to check it off :D) but I go to page 150 and I don't see it?? Does anyone else? Or is that book title somewhere else in there?

I will look at my book when I get home tonight and let you know whats going on.

message 77: by Susan (new)

Susan (superbookfreak) I just picked up the book the other day at the library. I can't wait to read it.

message 78: by Amy (new)

Amy (bibliocrates) | 25 comments Hey y'all. I haven't really been following this group and I feel bad :o(

I've been really busy with school. I wanted to ask though... is there a discussion thread for each book we have chosen for a group read? If so, I might could go through and add my thoughts to any I've read already.

Also, I noticed we haven't had a poll in a while. Are we not doing those anymore? How are we deciding what to read from the list?

message 79: by Trisha (new)

Trisha It's a great question, Amy. I haven't seen a list or update in a while. Is this still being updated???

message 80: by Susan (NY) (new)

Susan (NY) Right now I'm reading The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck, I thought for sure it was on the list but it isn't. Darn!

message 81: by Trisha (new)

Trisha I just started Good in Bed. Not normally a book I would grab, but it's on the list so I'm giving it a go! :)
