I've never seen the show but I can't wait to read these! I hear they are great!

Two of my favorite authors. Both great series!

Now I'm back to Blindsighted, which I had to stop reading in order to get Dark Places read and returned to the library in the time alloted. This is my first novel by Karin Slaughter and so far, I'm really liking her writing style!

I like the book series the best, but I do love watching the show, also.

My goodness, I need to re-read this book. It must be over 35 years since I first read it. Let me know Jackie - is it still as good? :-)

I just don't get it. I found the dialog stilted where others found it witty and rapier sharp. I thought the author tried way, way too hard to be clever. The absolute worst thing was every time anyone did anything they had to answer to some local board, committee, or commission of street sign maintenance or the ministry of recidivism and tolerance. How could people possibly live like that?

Child and Cussler must sit around and write silly ideas on slips of paper, put them in a hat and challenge the other to come up with the most ridiculous plot lines possible. The reader can only suspend belief in the rational and embrace the unlikely so many times a page. Not my genre a'tall.

when you say a piece of work is that in the good way or in the slang way?

I'd given up on PD James long ago because it seemed her preoccupation with psychology and description eclipsed her feeling for plot and pace.
I'm pleasantly surprised to be speeding along with a true interest this time in the well-drawn characters and leisurely unwrapping of the disclosures. Perhaps sitting through 20 episodes of The Killing has expanded my tolerance for detection at a slower pace.

I just bought that one for my Nook. Can't wait to read it.

I agree with these placements!

I was wanting to read another Landay book too since I love Defending Jacob so much. How is this one?

Hi Nikki. I haven't read any Harlan Coben yet, and I guess I should! Which of the two books you've read would you recommend to start me off? :-)

I've not read many of his but have loved the 2 I have read!! I read Gone for Good and Tell No One. Excellent, excellent!! He also has a series that I've heard nothing but great things about! The first one being Deal Breaker. I've not read it but plan on it!

Hey, thanks, Aiesha. I'll drag my lazy self over to Amazon and check these out, then I'll stick one in my 'to read' tray (which is groaning, of course, but nothing new there). :-)
