Ice Cold was my favorite of the Rizzoli and Isles series. I found it quite spooky.

Aiesha (bigtexasaj) I just finished Dark Places and boy was it was dark!! Still a great read though! I've read all 3 of her books and loved each one!

Now I'm back to Blindsighted, which I had to stop reading in order to get Dark Places read and returned to the library in the time alloted. This is my first novel by Karin Slaughter and so far, I'm really liking her writing style!

message 9716: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jhaltenburger) I'm about halfway through My Forbidden Past which is one of those melodramatic old historicals written in the 40s. I picked it up because an old Ava Gardner movie I saw recently was based on it. Also almost done with Landay's The Strangler The Strangler by William Landay , my first foray into Landay since Defending Jacob by William Landay Defending Jacob. Finished Double Life: A Love Story from Broadway to Hollywood Double Life A Love Story from Broadway to Hollywood by Alan Shayne and A Box of Darkness: The Story of a Marriage A Box of Darkness The Story of a Marriage by Sally Ryder Brady the latter of which was irritating.

Jim Crocker | 176 comments I just finished The Warehouse by Paxton Helling. This one's a real piece of work: a "psychological thriller" and an all-niter, too. Stock up on coffee and chips for this one.

My goodness, I need to re-read this book. It must be over 35 years since I first read it. Let me know Jackie - is it still as good? :-)

The Anteater of Death (A Gunn Zoo Mystery, #1) by Betty Webb

message 9722: by Ken (new)

Ken Consaul | 209 comments I picked up and almost as quickly set aside Dialogues Of The Dead by Reginald Hill. I see from the jacket Hill is prolific and has a ton of reviews. The Pascoe and Dialudid mysteries seem to be immensely popular. Must be me.

I just don't get it. I found the dialog stilted where others found it witty and rapier sharp. I thought the author tried way, way too hard to be clever. The absolute worst thing was every time anyone did anything they had to answer to some local board, committee, or commission of street sign maintenance or the ministry of recidivism and tolerance. How could people possibly live like that?

message 9723: by Ken (new)

Ken Consaul | 209 comments Another set aside: Lincoln Child's Deep Storm. I liked Relic when I read it long ago but another Atlantis story, puhleeze.

Child and Cussler must sit around and write silly ideas on slips of paper, put them in a hat and challenge the other to come up with the most ridiculous plot lines possible. The reader can only suspend belief in the rational and embrace the unlikely so many times a page. Not my genre a'tall.

message 9729: by Dinah (new)

Dinah Küng (dinahleekung) | 6 comments Currently reading the extraordinarily long The Murder Room The Murder Room (Adam Dalgliesh, #12) by P.D. James

I'd given up on PD James long ago because it seemed her preoccupation with psychology and description eclipsed her feeling for plot and pace.

I'm pleasantly surprised to be speeding along with a true interest this time in the well-drawn characters and leisurely unwrapping of the disclosures. Perhaps sitting through 20 episodes of The Killing has expanded my tolerance for detection at a slower pace.

message 9740: by Barbara (new)

Barbara (cinnabarb) | 9980 comments I finished Judgement Call by J.A.Jance, a mystery. I liked the book okay but the motivation for the crimes seemed like a stretch. I think Jance maybe needs to take a rest from Sheriff Brady for a while. 3 stars.

Hey, thanks, Aiesha. I'll drag my lazy self over to Amazon and check these out, then I'll stick one in my 'to read' tray (which is groaning, of course, but nothing new there). :-)
