Gatorman | 7679 comments I bought Improbable many years ago and never got around to reading it. Curious to see what you think.

Lance Charnes (lcharnes) | 421 comments Just started The Boy in the Suitcase . Scandinoir about child trafficking in Denmark. I don't think it's a comedy.

Laurie (tolepainter) | 52 comments Just finished Beyond Reach (Grant County, #6) by Karin Slaughter and was disappointed at the ending, does anyone know if this is the end of this series? I hope not because I enjoyed the characters. Thanks.

ipsit (ipsit_13) Just finished All the Beautiful Sinners by Stephen Graham Jones
The prose is beautiful. The storyline is complex, amazing and chilling.A truely epic read.

Jeanie (birdyseeds) | 382 comments Jennifer wrote:"If you like Crais on audio, you might try James Lee Burke's Dave Robicheaux series (but for god's sake get the ones narrated by Mark Hammer first... I think he died, so there's another narrator now, but I don't think he's even close to as good as Hammer was...) or Lawrence Block (The Matt Scudder series)."

(blinking at Jennifer) You don't like Will Patton? REALLY? Hmmmm...I, too, liked Hammer, especially his interpretation of Clete Purcel, but all in all I think Patton's narrations are much better. Burke's prose read by Will is like some form of southern crack for the eardrums! LOL! But, that's just my opinion, of course.

I, also, prefer Luke Daniels narrations of the Elvis Cole novels. He hasn't been reading them for very long, but I doooo love his voice work with these books! Very laid-back California...

FinishedAll The Pretty Girls last night. I think I need to read/listen to a couple more just to be sure of my opinion of her writing skills. (smile) I had a little trouble buying the idea of a police lieutenant in charge of homicide who is best friends with the Davidson County medical examiner, with the lieutenant winding up engaged to a well known FBI profiler, with one of the main characters involved in the story being a leading news anchor ... with all four attending Father Ryan High School at the same time? Ummm.... we're small, but we ain't that small. (grin) But otherwise a pretty good mystery.

Harvest by Tess Gerritsen Whiskey Sour (Jack Daniels Mystery, #1) by J.A. Konrath Bait by Karen Robards False Memory by Dean Koontz

Sharon Michael | 674 comments Just finished Ice Hunter: A Woods Cop Mystery. Very good law enforcement procedural, with the main character a career Conservation Officer in northern Michigan.

Free download (still free, just checked) and a very good read. Realistic, well developed characters, an interesting main plotline and a very good sense of the people and area.

I think they get better. You'll have to tell me if you feel the same.

Barbara (cinnabarb) | 9979 comments I finished Speaking from Among the Bones by Alan Bradley, the fifth Flavia de Luce mystery. Though I love Flavia this book wasn't as good as the first few in the series. The plot was rather mundane and Bradley's humor and inventiveness diminished somewhat in this book.
