Emily (emilyknap) Well I've started this list a little late because I spent the beginning of the year finishing War and Peace so I've got a little catching up to do but so far I've read:
War and Peace
The Name of the Wind
The Road to Ruin
Captiva
London Holiday
Mount Vernon Love Story: A Novel of George and Martha Washington

As you can see, my list ranges from love stories to fantasy. I'll read anything! So the rest of my list will consist of books people give me, books I have on my reading lists, and books I stumble upon and can't resist.

I'm wrapping up War & Peace myself right now. Probably another couple of weeks before I'm done. It has put my list on the skids but I'd say it is well worth it. Great storyteller, that Tolstoy.

Yeah and I have Anna Karenina on my "to-read" list as well. One Tolstoy classic a year might be it for me though...

I read AK last year - I found it much easier to read - not all those history lessons to absorb - though he did give a lot of thoughts on politics and society. But basically, like W&P, it was all about the characters (of which there are only 7 or 8 to keep track of) - love, adultery, tragedy...You'll get through AK much more quickly - another great book. But as you mentioned, I took it one Tolstoy per year - no need to overload!

Emily (emilyknap) 50. Dead as a Doornail

Well I did it!!!!! I thought 50 books would be easy and I'd finish it in no time but I barely made it. Granted, some of these books were over 800 pages which slowed me down but my job allowed me a lot of free time to do reading which I won't have in the future. I'll probably try to read 50 again next year but without all my free time for reading, I don't know if I'll make it... But woo hoooooo!
