The reader is taken deep into the mind and life of an ordinary ten-year-old child as she struggles to overcome intense abuse. It is also the story of hope, for in the midst of the pain, Anna discovers the strength to overcome through her beautiful friendship with the mysterious storyteller named Ash.

"The Character" is a ground-breaking and very disturbing look at a societal and familial issue that is all too often swept under the rug. It is told in chilling first person narrative that makes the reader's heart break for Anna and cheer her on at the same time.

Thanks for sharing Tiffani! I know it can be hard to address the issue of abuse.But it is such a release. Do you know that sharing this is a story does help those who silently suffer; afraid that others will think less of them because they were'bad'; but they were the victims and it was not their fault. In my THE SECRETS OF THE UNWRITTEN BOOK I wrote also about a little Anna, also, who was neglected and abused. The idea was to show the stark difference's between the dual role of the essence of the grandiose, spoiled and persnickety Queen Malika as she lives a life as Anna the machine on a horrible planet collecting notes about evil.
Anna's story provokes a few tears. But it is a story I believe that will reach out to those who have silently kept their own pain hidden inside; so afraid.Your story may offer hope and encourage other 'Annas' to seek counseling so they can heal the silent suffering.
