Any plans to do a spinoff story/series with any of the characters from the Sookie books?

Have the evolving storylines on Trueblood had any influence on the future storylines in the books?

I don't know if this has been asked already but for people who haven't read the series (like myself) do you recommend them to start from book 1 or will they be able to catch up no matter where they start?

True Blood is doing a comic book. It seems to me that is stepping on your toes, what do you think?
