LizthePrude | 5 comments I was searching through books, doing my Librarian work, and saw a fake author called "NOT A BOOK." There's more than 6,000 ITEMS there. None of them are books. They're all calendars, postcards, pushpins, that you can collect that are related to books. Most people think that it's the actual book and make reviews for them. What do we do with these? I wouldn't be able to delete these anyways since I'm not a Super User, or whatever they're called.

jenjn79 | 564 comments That's an intentional category for when librarians come across something that is, well, not a book...like calendars, prepaks, etc. Ideally, those items would be deleted, but since they have ISBN numbers, they would only be recreated by Amazon at some point. So the only solution is to put them in the NOT A BOOK category with that as the author, and in the title. It makes them just a little less likely to be found.

There are probably some rules for marking something as NOT A BOOK when it has reviews, but I'm not sure of them. One of the other librarians probably can say what they are.

Preferably, the reviews should be shifted (by combining the non-book with the most likely intended target and then deleting the non-book; then recreating it by searching on the ISBN) before changing the author to Not a Book.
