Donna Jo Atwood | 2412 comments At some point I think I read that if you had already read all three group reads, you could substitute one of the runners-up. If I am not making this up, can someone tell me if the runners up are:

Historical: The Other Boleyn Girl by Gregory
Censored: Speak by Anderson
Favorite Authors: East of Eden by Steinbeck

Thanks.

Jayme(theghostreader) (jaymetheghostreader) | 3041 comments yeah that is right on both accounts.

Ashley FL | 721 comments In message 98 under the general questions thread, Cynthia said it had to be one of the three Group Reads, even if that results in a re-read. You might want to ask her for clarification before you read a book that doesn't count.

I remember this question distinctly because I was impressed that anyone would have read all three, lol!

scherzo♫ (pjreads) The runners-up are okay for Reading with Style only.

Donna Jo Atwood | 2412 comments Thanks for clearing that up! Too bad, as Speak is the only one I haven't read.
That also explains why I couldn't find any info here about using the runners up.
So now I'm in a quandary. Do I reread the Atwood, which I've read three times now for various reasons, the Golden Compass, which I've already read twice, or The Historian, which I read once and vowed I'd never touch a copy again.
Decisions, decisions.

Literally Jen (vampsita) Ashley, I had actually read 2 of 3 of the group reads, so I was rather disappointed that that left me with only one choice. I'm sure there are others that probably had read all 3.

I would NOT read The Historian again, Donna Jo! I was totally not impressed with it. I would probably say to read The Golden Compass again since you'd probably fly through that book really fast.
