What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

I read this, I believe, in 1997. I think it was published around that time, possibly in hardcover. At least part of the cover may have had a white background.

All I really remember is that there were spaceships, and that one of the main holidays of the people who lived and worked on spaceships was called Confluence.

I don't think this is Paul J. McAuley's Confluence trilogy, though the timing is right. There don't seem to be spaceships there, though I could be wrong.

Could it be The Billion Dollar Boy ?

(It's the 2nd in a series, but it's the one published in 97 and the cover has some white...)

That may well be it. I remember reading the first book in that series and liking it, though the two novels involve a different set of characters and locations. I'll check it out today or tomorrow and report back. Thanks!
