Melissa (mjkirkland) "Deep Ecology" is a newer way of thinking about the environment, rather a philosophy--regarding the value of all parts of the web of life, without placing human values above others.

I would like to know more about this concept and wonder if we have members that could tell us more about it?

Are there good books that you could recommend?

Lorne Rothman I think Norwegian philosopher Arne Naess (who recently died I believe) coined the term "deep ecology". Writers like Muir and Leopold were formative. A Sand County Almanac, with Leopold's concept of a land ethic, was a seminal book in this vein. I don't know much more. Hope there are others in the Group who might share.
