Tom and Veronica's talk of Alice made me want share my views and to see what everyone else thought of the movie.
I totally agree that it's your expectations that will determine if you enjoy or dislike a movie.
I went into the movie not expecting to much, since it was only rated PG (so they would try to aim it towards kids rather then making it a dark and trippy tale).
I was pleasantly surprised that Tim Burton was able to add a good deal of dark elements (severed heads, allusion to tadpoles being eaten).
I loved the representation of the characters, especially the red queen, the tweedle brothers, and the mad hatter.
I thought the story flowed well enough, it didn't drag, and overall was a lot of fun.
I found the 3D to be more distracting than anything as it was used to fling things at the audience. Plus the pulling focus constantly was distracting as well. This was the first DLP 3D movie I have seen and it seemed like the glasses really desaturated the colors and dimmed the whites. I wonder if the colors were meant to be so muted, or if they would of been more vibrant if I had seen the 2D version.
What were your expectations for the movie, what did you think of it, and do you have any comments about the 3D?
