Anyone up for a trashy group read? We have yet to start the Flowers in Attic series but we don't have to do those next if people have other ideas. Suggestions?

Meghan I just bought the latest Joan Collins paperback at the airport. Is that considered as trashy as FIA?

Given that it's Joan Collins I'd bet it's sufficiently trashy! What's it called?

Meghan Okay, so first off, it's Jackie Collins...my bad! (But I think she's equally trashy.)

And secondly, the book is called Drop Dead Beautiful. It's a sequel to the Lucky Santangelo series, but about Lucky's daughter.

I have to admit, Jackie Collins is one of my secret reads. I think I've read almost everything she's ever written, and some have been truly horrendous. But I liked most of the Lucky books. She's one of my favorite beachy-summer reads because it requires no brain power and the plots are ridiculous and ridiculously predictable.

Jessica Haider (jessicahaider) | 22 comments I have a chick-lit book on my shelf at home that I will be reading soon. It is Jennifer Cruise's Welcome to Temptation. It seems like a perfect trashy beach book. Now, If only I could find the courage/initiative to drag myself to the beach. :)

Meghan Jessica - lather up! (with sunscreen that is) and get thee to the beach! Forget about your troubles and hunker down with a delicious beachy read and soak up some rays. If you're lucky, you'll even get some eye candy. Nothing says "totally trashy" than illicit thoughts about the cute shirtless guy playing beach volleyball in some swimming trunks (or speedos if that's your bag...heh!

I'm almost done with Bet Me by Jennifer Cruise, it's fun and a little trashy but not so bad that I feel my brain rotting. I'd definitely read something else by her if we want to make that our next trashy read.

Meghan, first of all you made me laugh with your watching guys play volleyball stuff. Especially with the (or speedos if that's your bag) I feel like Beavis and Butthead, you said bag..heh heh. I've never read any of the Lucky series-do you think it matters? If not then I'd be up for that one too.

Now if I could just work it so that my soon to be 2 year old (I can't believe it!) would just sit still at the beach I could enjoy by trashy book as it's meant to be. Right now he likes to run in and out of the water and point to everyone and yell "nudie." Apparently anyone who is showing any skin is now classified as "nudie" in his mind.

Meghan heh heh heh...you said nudie (Sorry, I love Beavis and Butthead so it made me laugh and so did your son. You can't help but heart kids and how their brains work.)

I'm going to say since this one's about her daughter, you probably won't need to have read the Lucky series, although I'm sure she's brought in some of the older characters from previous books. I have yet to read it so don't quote me on this. But it IS Jackie Collins and really, it's pretty much just sex and fashion and drinking, just change the names.

I've never read Cruise, but my friends who love "chick lit" enjoy her a lot. She seems like a good summer beachy read.
