Took care of the giftery already, so I got that base covered.

I got my Mom a card last night at the grocery store, I'm all set! I, uh, just need to sign it and actually mail it...

"
i was actually looking for something a little less cactus-y, but at least this won't turn yellow like most of her other plants.

This was in today's paper:
Mother's Day is one of the biggest shopping holidays of the year, but not as big here as in the rest of the country.
A survey from the National Retail Federation shows spending is expected to be up a little bit for the holiday, just as it has been for other shopping ocassions this year. The average person expects to spend $127 on moms, up from $124 last year.
In the frugal Midwest, the average is $103 this year, up from $101 last year. We drag down the national average. The biggest spenders are in the West, averaging $139 this year; followed by Southerners, who plan to spend, on average, $137; and people in the Northeast, who expect to shell out $129 this year.
Most popular shopping destinations nationally are specialty stores--florist, jeweler, card shop. In the Midwest, discount stores are the favorite shopping venue for Mom's gift.
I must be the cheapest bastard EVER, because I was like, "100 bucks! That's a lot!"
I spent about forty-five on a juicer for my wife. Sorry, fellow Midwesterners. I think I brought down the average.

Mothers day was yesterday. My 11 year old son, for a school project had to prepare a 3 course meal. (he was allowed to organise & supervise assistance)
This was the menu he prepared.
Entre
Garlic Prawns
Main
Roast BeefServed with broccolini, cauliflower & roast potatoes
dessert
Drowned Koalas
(Green jelly with Caramello Koalas swimming in it.)
He also supervised the cleaning up afterwards. What more could a mum ask for.

I would have to agree with you Bun, but they never seem to be forthcoming.
I obviously don't drop enough hints. (Must make a note to buy myself a massage for the celebration on the calendar)

So that is what I am doing wrong. Not enough whining. Thanks for the tip Kevin. I am sure my family will appreciate it. :)
So Happy Mothers Day to all the mothers out there!
Also, a collection of weird mother/child pictures from the Huffington Post:

3 and 13 disturbed me greatly. 9 is terrifying.
