Jennifer | 4 comments There are 16 books in this vampire/werewolf series... and it's addicting! I found after getting as far as the 14th book, I had to 'hold back' on my brain and find an alternate book .... in order to get grip on reality! LOL

What has anyone else found with Anita and her amazing adventure(s)?

message 2: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. I love them and I also like her Merry books too.

She was my first, you never forget your first..

I love Anita and Merry and cant wait for the next book to come out.. After the tease that was Flirt it's taking far to long.

I absolutely agree. Can't wait till June 1. What with all the teases about Jean-Claude and Richard and Haven...*sign*
It was my first PNR as well and I still love it, even more so. I can't get it in my head how this woman manages to actually make it even more interesting with every book. I worship her.
Read the first Merry as well and loved it, too. And liked Frost most.
From Anitaverse, my favourite characters are Anita (of course), Jean-Claude, Richard, Jason and Edward.
Again, can't wait!

Archer | 238 comments From Merry: Rhys, Galen, and Frost
From Anita: Jean-Claude, Edward, Olaf and Damien

If it weren't for Laurell I wouldn't have found the rest of the wonderful authors that I've grown to love.

message 6: by Crystal (new)

Crystal (crys25) | 72 comments She was one of the first UF/PNR authors I read. Her novels are absorbing and addictive. I've said it before and I'll say it again she could write a car manual and I'd probably enjoy it.

I would have to agree with you there. :)

message 8: by Crystal (new)

Crystal (crys25) | 72 comments Yes, entire days have gone by where I have refused to do anything except read her books.

message 9: by Lora (new)

Lora Savchova (lorasavchova) | 313 comments We should definetely let her see what we're talking here. She's probably write even faster, hehe ^^

message 10: by Sally (new)

Sally (larwos) | 258 comments I've only read short stories by her, but have her first Anita Blake book on order at the library. I really prefer to read series in order. Reading these posts makes me want to get onto her books as soon as poss.

message 11: by Shelleyrae (new)

Shelleyrae at Book'd Out | 145 comments I'm a huge fan of both the series as well

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 663 comments i love anita blake as well. my favorite characters so far are jean claude and asher. i'm only on book 9 (obsidian butterfly). my coworker has told me that more details about jason and asher's characters will be given in later books. i can't wait! i had started the black dagger brotherhood first, but when i read the first anita blake novel, i was hooked. never thought i would love vampire books so much. i'm glad i've started to read them. hehe

message 13: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. I like Laurell Hamilton's writing more than J.R. Ward's. Although I'm still a fan of Ward's books.

You are correct in waiting, you really do need to read her books in order to get what's going on.

Well he's a character and there is something totally weird about him but I bet he has a very interesting story and would like to learn more..

Kerri | 1 comments Well he's a character and there is something totally weird about him but I bet he has a very interesting story and would like to learn more..

Learing about Olaf would probably take several books alone. olaf is creepy interesting no doubt!

message 18: by Archer (new)

Archer | 238 comments Very true, It took alot for me to start liking Edward but I think she could pull off a book on Olaf.

message 19: by ~~*Julie (new)

~~*Julie Kawalec-pearson (jewel77) | 66 comments I would LOVE a book on Olaf. Do you think she teams up with him and then kills him- or just kills him cause he's creepy? I was so waiting for her to hook up with Edward. Why not she did with everyone (thing) else. She was getting a little freaky.... I had to stop and take a break right at Micah. I can't remember which book that was. I haven't started back with the series becasue I have been distracted by a lot of other books! I will pick up the series again soon.

message 20: by Crystal (new)

Crystal (crys25) | 72 comments I think there is a statement about why her and Edward will never be that way in one of the books, either The Harlequin or Blood Noir I can't remember which. I don't want to quote in case it's spoilerish for some ppl.

message 21: by Archer (new)

Archer | 238 comments Hmm, now that would be fun.. But I think it would have to last a couple of books like he get's away in the end and she chases him down for a second book, like Kerri said it would take probably more than one book to get his full story.

I dont think she could EVER hook up with Edward, that would just be creepy and I think they would kill each other..

And if anyone would ever take out Anita we know who it would be, and sex might take away from his ability to do that.

message 22: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. Edward would be too much like a dad or uncle - incesty.

Olaf - holding her hands inside that body - that man needs to be put down.

message 23: by Crystal (new)

Crystal (crys25) | 72 comments @Carolyn F. I wholeheartadly agree.

message 24: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (audiobookmel) This is my favorite series. I have read all the books at least twice. I cannot wait until June first. Just a few more days. I am taking the day off and will be at Barnes & Noble when they open to get Bullet.

I do agree that you have to read the books in order or you will be completely confused.

Just a warning to people who have not read any of LKH's books, they are graphic and violent compared to PNR. The later Anita books and all the Merry books have a lot of sex that can be graphic and with multiple partners. There are many people who do not like the books for these two reasons, but I love them.

message 25: by Alisha (new)

Alisha (schalazeal) | 15 comments Just love this series to bits. LKH can do no wrong, in my book...I just flippin love the way she thinks (see: LKH's blog)!

Anita is by far my fave female UF character, and Jean-Claude my fave male UF character. Granted, there have been 17 books thus far to establish that... but they just rock.

When June 1st comes around....expect me to be holed up somewhere with Bullet and a bucket of chocolate (two guilty pleasures, no pun intended!).

You and me both Alisha!

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 663 comments jean-claude is the best. then ahser and next jason. oh, and i've just been introduced to olaf. i was a little lost when u guys were talking of him earlier. he's a bit scary. haven't gotten to far past his introduction, but he seems interesting. i like bernardo too.

message 28: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 320 comments It seems I am very much in the minority here. I have only read a few Anita books and while I think they are ok. I find Anita very irritating. However I love John Claude and Edward. For the Anita books it takes me a like a week to read which is rare because typically I read a book in about two days if I am working and in an afternoon if I am at home. Between her two series I prefer the Merry books.

Having said that I do wonder if is because I started reading urban fantasy with the Sookie Stackhouse series and Rachel Morgan? Anyway I do plan to read more of the books here is hoping I get sucked in :-)!

message 29: by Heather (new)

Heather | 60 comments I love JC and Richard. I can't stand Nate or Micha!! The cats should leave!!!

I really hate the she sleeps with everyone she meets.

message 30: by Crystal (new)

Crystal (crys25) | 72 comments Dawn-you're not in the minority. A lot of ppl aren't necessarily happy with the way LKH has evolved the series. I'm a big fan and will prob read anything she writes, but I do see where ppl are coming from with complaints of Anita's attitude and a certain plot device that I don't want to give away for those that haven't read beyond Obsidian Butterfly.

Domino (aka Meme) (bryghtstarr) | 663 comments it's all good Dawn. Anita Blake was just my second PNR/UF. i haven't had the opportunity to read the sookie stackhouse series, but i intend on reading it in the near future. i do watch TrueBlood though.
