Anna Anderson (annaanderson) | 130 comments Hello! My name is Anna, I am 36 yrs. old and live in Greensboro, NC with my husband and our beautiful 6-1/2 yr. old boxer/english bulldog mix Tori. I joined Goodreads at the very beginning of April and I love it. I am an avid reader and my TBR list has grown by leaps and bounds since I joined GR. I am actually running out of room for all of my books and my husband is OVER putting together IKEA bookshelves and storage centers, so I am having to come up with some crafty storage solutions. I hate to get rid of any of my books, so that is not an option, but I am working it out slowly, but surely. I love to go on book shopping sprees and I find that they are just as, if not more satisfying than shoe/clothes shopping sprees. I went on two sprees in April and now I have about 32 books waiting and staring at me, patiently calling my name begging to be the next one chosen to be read. It is so hard for me not to continue to buy books, but I have made myself a promise that I will not buy another book until I have read at least half of the ones I have waiting on me (so far, so good)!

My favorite genre is Historical Fiction, but I also enjoy murder/mysteries and biographys and I will give any genre a chance at least once...I try to keep an open mind when it comes to choosing books, but I have noticed that the older I get the more I am able to select and choose books to buy that I know I will enjoy, rather than just going off of other peoples reviews, I can kind of sense whether or not I am going to like it by reading the flap/cover and reading what it is about. The only genre I really have a hard time reading is Science Fiction and I guess Horror as well.

I come from a long line of readers and my father, brother and I all can put a book away in no time flat. When we get our hands on a book we really like, it is usually done within a day. My mother was instrumental in my love of reading b/c she would read to my brother and myself every night before bed without fail and we got to take turns choosing the book. She always made sure that we had quiet/reading time every day, even in the summer and now she has two grown adult children who still love to read. My brother actually married an authors daughter. The authors name is Ruth White, she is a Newberry Award Winner and if you all enjoy Young Adult Fiction, she is a wonderful author and you will thouroughly enjoy reading her books.

Well, I just wanted to take a minute and introduce myself since I intend on joining your discussions! BTW...I just finished reading Forever Amber (juicy historical fiction) and this morning I started A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, which so far I love.

Lyn (Readinghearts) (lsmeadows) Hey Anna, welcome aboard. I love your introduction. I actually find book buying sprees MORE satisfying than either clothes or shoe shopping, lol. My husband has also refused to put up any more bookshelves. I think he thinks that if we have no more bookshelves, I will not buy anymore books. HAH! Never happen. Although I do get books from the library regularly, they don't have everything, and there are some books I want to keep. I am glad to see another Historical Fiction reader. That is my favorite genre of all, closely followed by mysteries, but I really like all genres. The only ones I have a lot of problems with are hard-core Romance and Horror. After raising two boys, who are now in their 20s, I have learned to like Science Fiction. It was a matter of survival, lol.

Anna Anderson (annaanderson) | 130 comments Thank you for the warm welcomes! Lyn, I must agree with you that I think that the husbands believe that if they do not put together any more bookshelves that we will not buy any more books...oh, do we have them fooled!! I am glad to see that you enjoy Historical Fiction as well...it is by far my favorite, with mysteries a close second and if it is a Historical Fiction Mystery than that is a perfect book to me!

I look forward to discussing books and chatting with you all!

Colleen (nightoleander) | 676 comments Anna and Jenni, there is a whole group dedicated to HF, which is one of my favorite genres as well. I rarely get to the group as this one and modding two groups keeps me super busy but I will send you both invites, it's called Historical Fictionista's.
