Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments Look at you, Gabby 81! Cute little man dragon. :)

I don't chat much, if at all... thank goodness. I could see how it might become addictive.

smetchie | 4034 comments I don't even know how to "chat."

message 3: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments I started with live online chat in 1995, as host of an "All My Children" chat room (oh shut up, you know you like it). That's where I met the woman who became my wife.

Now neither of us chats online, nor do we watch "All My Children."

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments I don't think I'm a chat addict. Is this chatting?

Did Phil just say he watches "All My Children"? Only a real man would admit to that. I never watch soap operas, except when I'm at the Y during the day and they're on, in which case I watch closely.

Sarah | 13814 comments I used ICQ also but I don't use the chat feature on anything else anymore - no IM,no FB chat. Well, I'll chat for a minute or two, but then I get frustrated and impatient because I was probably on the computer with the intent of doing something more constructive.

Sarah | 13814 comments Posting on threads is different, because I control when I do it...

message 7: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments I think there's a comment missing that made my #9 make sense. What I meant to say is that when people hit me up to chat online in other fora - FB, for example - they can't see that I'm working on a story or something, and so I'll chat but sometimes I don't know how to tell them I need to end the conversation without being rude. I get antsy doing something with my ears and not with the rest of me.

On a GR group - or in private e-mail, or browsing facebook in a non-chat manner, I choose when I'm here and I choose what I respond to.

I should add to this that I am one of the world's worst telephone talkers for the same reason. I get antsy, even when I really want to talk to the person.

Sarah | 13814 comments I haven't seen anything in bad spirit!

message 9: by Lori (new)

Lori Most definitely not a chat person, even in middle school when everyone always talked on the phone for hours!

I like what Sarah said - I do love to chat but only when I'm in the mood, so I like to have control over it.

ms.petra (mspetra) I like this format, because like SP said, I can comment when I like. It is so annoying when you are in the middle of something and a little chat window pops up! Sarah one of my customers named their baby boy Pi, after Life of Pi.....
