Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 474 comments I think Bella was actually a bit thoughtless with Phury sometimes, she knew how he felt but she still spoke to him about Zsadist and things.

I agree with you,I`d blame first one of them then the other as I read thru the story, and still do.But I did love Phury before that book,I think she stripped all the color out of him or something.
I have the same problem with Ash,I can`t stand to see my hero stripped of all power and put in those awful positions, I never see them as anything else again.

I agree with you, Suzanne. Bella seemed like she didn't get how Phury felt.

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 474 comments Whicj I always thought was strange as she did know, because she mentions it when she speaks to Cormia. Well at least he got his HEA in th end. I want to read more about the other Choosen. I loved at the end of LEn, when they are listening to them fighting over housework and nearly burning the house down with a toaster! lol

Me too, Suzanne. I think it will be interesting, seeing Phury get them mated off. :)

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 474 comments I am hoping that that does happen, even if it is just a secondary thread through someone elses book.

I think it would be really interesting. I'm sure Phury will be pretty particular about who can 'date' the Chosen. :)

Starfire (starfirenz) There's an annoying tendency I keep seeing in allegedly dangerous heroes that I've started calling Roarke syndrome, after Roarke (who I like as a character, except for this issue) from J D Robb's "In Death" set.

Basically it's when you have a powerful, competetent, successful, male lead who's spent his life building x thing (whether it be his financial empire, his military career, his underworld contacts, whatever) - anything that's required a lot of time, energy, focus, and (one would think) clear thinking.

But suddenly, the moment he sees the heroine, every single thought that passes through his conscious mind somehow relates to her: is she happy? is she looking at another man? what can he do to make her happier? what is she thinking when she thinks of him? (etc etc etc) Everything in his life suddenly only exists in as much as it somehow affects her. Anything that doesn't involve her somehow is deemed unimportant and ignored. And yet, somehow, whatever it is he's built doesn't come crashing down around him...

I don't know why, but that trope *seriously* irritates me...

Katya | 327 comments Phury from Lover Enshrined (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #6) by J.R. Ward was a little disappointing to me. He annoyed me in this and later books; but that is not his fault. I think the author did not pay enough attention to him. He was always used as a prop for Zadist or side kick for the others. I did like where it was going when Z started paying attention to his addiction and his pity party but felt that a huge opportunity to blow his personality out of the water for readers was lost. It just fizzled up and died on me. He is a blank page. Where is his anger, his frustration or his passion? I didn't feel it. After he took V's place in Lover Unbound (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #5) by J.R. Ward I thought it might get interesting once the author started paying attention to just him....but I really felt let down. Too bad...I wanted Phury to be my favorite BDB. I guess I have to find another one....
