Gone With the Wind

I had this book in my shelves for over ten years. I wanted to read it but the topic of war turn me off. I finally read it! Love it! It was very easy to read.

I am watching the movie now. They took so many scenes out of the movie, it is a shame. I am also watching the commentaries and I am really enjoying it.

Reading the reviews here in GR, I am surprised at how controversial the way slavery is presented in the book is for some readers. I am able to put aside any judgement and just enjoy the story.

I am finally going to get to this one during the summer. My in-laws bought me a beautiful anniversary edition in HC that won't leave the house to go to the pool! I read half of it once upon a time and remember thinking that Scarlett is more likable in the book than in the movie. I also remember thinking that the book was better than the movie, even a movie with the magnitude that this one had.

There is so many feelings and emotions in this story that a movie can't capture! Also, the movie was made at the end of the 30's and a lot of things don't look real.

Wow - this book is HUGE!! I ended up going to the store and buying it just in case it takes me forever to read!

I have some classics that I really want to read before the end of 2010, and this is one of them so I better get started before school resumes. It's so big (I have the HC edition) that it is a challenge to read it in bed, so it must be a couch book. ;)
