Well, it's the end of the month and I've had an interesting time watching the comments made on this thread. I'm particularly grateful to those not overwhelmed by Erikson's "awesomeness" who voiced their thoughts.
I could wish that a little more discussion had been generated about religious and military themes in the novel but I realize these may be my own present obsessions :-)
I hope everyone who read the book didn't think it was a complete waste of their reading time. Considering the series as a whole, I think The Malazan Book of the Fallen is going to stack up as one of the more important entries in the fantasy genre in the last decade and will spawn many imitators.
