Amy So where are you creating your blogs through?

message 6: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Oh, "fancy"... LOL - you flatterer! Yours is very nice. I haven't had a chance to really look through it as I'm at work, but I liked the snippet I saw before my boss walked by! :P

message 7: by Donna (new)

Donna (dfiggz) | 1332 comments Yeah, my time is limited to I used pretty uch all asics. One day I will brighten it up a bit!

message 8: by Amy (new)

Amy I have a blog for my kids that I forget to update. Sad thing is I would probably work more on a abook blog thana a kid blog.

message 9: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) It's addictive. It really is.

message 10: by Laura (new)

Laura (apenandzen) Wow, I love your layout Donna. Very snazzy. I love the water-y-ness. lol

message 12: by Just a person (new)

Just a person (brandi12345678) Coming over to follow you :)

message 13: by Miss Bookiverse (new)

Miss Bookiverse (missbookiverse) I really don't get why you would call your blog book NAZI. It's not exactly something positive.

message 14: by Amy (new)

Amy Freedom of speech.

message 15: by Donna (new)

Donna (dfiggz) | 1332 comments Well I got it from Seinfeld the "soup Nazi"

message 16: by Donna (new)

Donna (dfiggz) | 1332 comments Thx Amy!

Yay Brandi!

message 17: by Amy (new)

Amy Not to menttion, the old tv show Roswell........the Isabelle character was referred to as the Christmas Nazi because she liked everthing to be perfect. As long as it's used in a respectful way it's fine.

message 18: by Donna (new)

Donna (dfiggz) | 1332 comments LOL Didn't know that! I can add that to my defenses

message 19: by Amy (new)

Amy Feel free. LOL!

message 20: by Miss Bookiverse (last edited Jun 07, 2010 06:54AM) (new)

Miss Bookiverse (missbookiverse) Maybe in other countries this subject is taken on more lightly but I'm from Germany and I would never dare to call myself anything Nazi-related, neither for fun nor in a respectful way.
And I didn't mean to offend you or anything, I just wanted to know why you chose that name. I have experienced people using Nazi signs just for fun and without even knowing what they mean.
Also - in connection with books Nazis don't have the best reputation either (book burning etc. you know?). I just think that people could easily get the wrong idea from the name of your blog.

message 21: by Amy (new)

Amy Actually some of the nazi symbols actually mean positive things in other languages (in India for example).

message 22: by Miss Bookiverse (new)

Miss Bookiverse (missbookiverse) I know that the Nazis used already existing symbols and gave them a horrible new meaning. I'm just saying everyone should be aware of these things and know for sure why he/she is using certain symbols/names and consider the first thought it gives other people.

message 23: by Angela Sunshine (new)

Angela Sunshine (angelasunshine) I guess we forget here, IP, how NOT funny some things are. The TV show Seinfeld made the use of the word comical all most. It was definitely a negative connotation, but funny too.

Until you said something, I don't think any of us in the U.S. gave her blog title a second thought. It wasn't meant to be disrespectful, but a play on the tv show.

message 24: by Amy (new)

Amy I'm Jewish and the whole Nazi thing is a sore spot with me. I didn't think anything of her using that word in her blog title. I know she didn't mean anything bad by it.

message 25: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) You know... I can understand both sides here, and while I generally try to think about things from other perspectives so that I don't give offense, I'm not one who takes offense at things easily. It has to be very blatant and pointed for me to be offended by something in most cases.

I know that others aren't like that... I don't think that we should stop being offended by the atrocities committed by the Nazis, but I think that the term's meaning has changed in the time since WWII. Good or bad, sometimes it happens.

The thought that instantly came to my mind when I saw her blog title is that she's weeding out bad books on her search for the perfect one. I guess that does kind of represent what the Nazis were trying to do, but in a definitely non-harmful way.

*shrug*

Everyone will interpret things in their own way, but it's a choice as to whether we're offended by that interpretation.

message 26: by Amy (new)

Amy Nicely said Becky!

message 27: by Arya (new)

Arya (izlandzadi) | 686 comments Amy I LOVE(d) Roswell!!

message 28: by Donna (new)

Donna (dfiggz) | 1332 comments I haven't been looking at this for a bit and I appriciate everyones input. Where I never wanted to offend anyone I really do appriciate you sticking to your guns, IP. Everyone is entitiled to their opinion so...

I also appriciate that everyone is sticking up for me or for at least their beliefs and opinions!

And I think Becky hit it on the head!

message 29: by Amy (new)

Amy Me too. I have all three seasons on DVD. I'm obsessed. I really want to go to Roswell to see all the alien stuff.

message 30: by Arya (new)

Arya (izlandzadi) | 686 comments Oh I SOOO want to go to Roswell. I think that they should open up a crashdown cafe just because of the show - I am SURE all the Roswell fans would keep it running!

Which season was your favorite? Also the infamous "Max, or Michael" question - who do you like better? Personally I am not sure. Max was awesome in the first season . . . but then all that stuff with Tess. He is really romantic and stuff but he gets really full of himself once he finds out he is King.

Michael on the other hand is not romantic at all but it cannot be denied that he is fiercely loyal and protective of Maria. *weighs the scales and still doesn't know*

So . . . guess you can tell I am obsessed too huh!!

message 31: by Amy (new)

Amy I loved the first season! That's my favorite! I love Max (man did he have the best abs) but Michael was the bad boy and I loved him with spiky hair. Hated the long hair and then when he got the job as a night guard. That was annoying. I didn't like Tess but loved the episode where Liz figured out that Tess killed Alex and then sent Tess back to their planet!

message 32: by Arya (new)

Arya (izlandzadi) | 686 comments YESYESYESYES!!! GOODBYE TESS!!! I also really loved Max. But as you said Michael was the bad boy and thus held unresistable appeal. The spiky hair was definitely his best look!!

I loved the part where Liz told Max that she was going to research Alex's death even though Max told her not to, because Max WAS NOT HER KING. Liz was going to do whatever she wanted! YES

message 33: by Amy (new)

Amy I just love Liz!

Clary | 1 comments Becky wrote: In Germany I understand it is illegal to make a mock heil hitler salute? Is that still the case?"

Yes, it's still illegal to make it- no matter if you do it just "for fun" or if you mean it. same goes for shouting hitler salutes..we are a bit sensitive around here ;)

message 35: by Arya (new)

Arya (izlandzadi) | 686 comments She IS awesome!! I was glad that she and Max ended up together in the end - even though they didn't get married in a Las Vegas ceremony.

I always wondered how she could tell that the "Future Max" that came and ruined everything was really a future max and not one of Tess's little mind games? What if she broke up with Max for nothing!!??

What did you think about creepy-shapeshifting-full-fledged-can't remember his name-alien who was Tess's "father figure"? Think his name started with a N. . .

message 36: by Amy (new)

Amy I loved their version of marriage though. That was cool. Hated the max from the future and the fake kyle thing. So sad.

Oh, shape shifter guy. Weird. Hated that he really wasn't the bad guy.

message 37: by Arya (new)

Arya (izlandzadi) | 686 comments I know right!! AHA - remembered his name (googled it!) Nasedo!! Hehehe . . .

message 38: by Amy (new)

Amy We are such dorks. LOL! I even made a roswell scrapbook page back in the day.

message 39: by Arya (new)

Arya (izlandzadi) | 686 comments Hahahaha . . . really? That is SO cool!

message 40: by Amy (new)

Amy Yup. I am big into scrapbooking, not that I have much time to do it these days.

message 41: by Arya (new)

Arya (izlandzadi) | 686 comments I like scrap booking too! It is a way to express creativity in a . . . creative way! Hahaha . . .

message 42: by Rita (new)

Rita Webb (ritawebb) | 183 comments My scrapbooking supplies have sat neglected since my youngest was born. I have 3 kids and I spend a lot of my free time writing. But lately, I've been thinking it's about time for me to do something other than writing!

message 43: by Amy (new)

Amy Yeah mine are four and I dont' have time between them, work and graduate school. Maybe someday.

message 44: by Rita (new)

Rita Webb (ritawebb) | 183 comments Wow, four kids, work, and GRADUATE school? How do you stay sane? Please share your secrets.

message 45: by Amy (new)

Amy No not four kids. I have four year old twins! Four kids would be the death of me I think. LOL. Not sane. Just get a lot of acupuncture treatments. They work wonders for my stress level and my weight.

message 46: by Kellee (new)

Kellee Moye (kelleemoye) Amy wrote: "No not four kids. I have four year old twins! Four kids would be the death of me I think. LOL. Not sane. Just get a lot of acupuncture treatments. They work wonders for my stress level and my weight."

For your weight?
They work?

message 47: by Amy (new)

Amy Yup. I went in for TMJ pain originally but it's helped with other things. Gotten rid of my headaches for the most part (I used to have three a week and now only once in a while), minimal TMJ flare ups, and I lost twenty pounds and two pant sizes. I wasn't overweight or anything just stressed out and eating crazy because of it. It's also gotten rid of most of my anxiety attacks.

message 48: by Donna (new)

Donna (dfiggz) | 1332 comments It's good to hear that I am not the only one doing this! I have a 1 and a 2 year old, I work full time and I go to Grad school!!! I have no idea how I do it!!

message 49: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Wow. I work full time, don't go to school and have no kids, and I still feel like there's not enough time in the day!

Do you guys have Time-Turners? O_o

message 50: by Donna (new)

Donna (dfiggz) | 1332 comments It is a lot and I think that no matter what I do in life there will never been enough hours in the day.
