Sherri (sherrij2003) | 170 comments How is Generation Dead and Her Fearful Symmetry??

message 7: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Pfaff (kl_pfaff) I have a special place in my heart for Generation Dead! The series reminds me of an enhanced version of the kind of books that I loved when I was in late elementary school / junior high. I giggled over and over again and found myself endlessly amused.

Her Fearful Symmetry is... odd.

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

I agree that Her Fearful Symmetry is odd!

What a list!

That is a pretty good list. I ended the month with City of Bones too!

message 14: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Pfaff (kl_pfaff) I can't believe I read that again so soon, but I really like those books!

message 15: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) I ended w/COB as well. Some repetitive-ness going on! :)

Kristen: How did you like Leviathan?

message 16: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Pfaff (kl_pfaff) OMG I LOVED Leviathan! Based on its description, I didn't really think I would enjoy it that much. I had checked it out at the library and upon returning it, I ran out and snagged my own copy so that I can read it again and again. When Behemoth comes out, I will buy that one outright.

I am full on in love with The Mortal Instruments. Maybe I will end next month with City of Ashes! :)

message 17: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Hehe! I am totally into the series as well. Am trying to get ahold of COA this month so that I can continue, but parents aren't cooperating. Ha. :)

~LOL! Well I'm glad you enjoyed it. I will definitely try reading it now. I am always in the mood for an awesome book. Can't wait for your callings to be answered by the release of Behemoth! Sure you'll be done w/the book retty quickly :)

I didn't finish the month off with City of Ashes after all... rather I will be starting August off with it! In between these books I have been reading a huge collection of Ray Bradbury stories. I haven't finished yet, so I haven't counted the pages.

message 19: by Catrina (new)

Catrina (ninasama) Oh! After looking at your list, I'm totally convinced that I should read the Mortal Instruments series! Oh and Leviathian is super good, isn't it? Behemoth (the 2nd one) is out in October!

message 20: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Pfaff (kl_pfaff) Yeah, Leviathan was definitely amazing. I wasn't even expecting to really like it and I found myself cursing at the book when it just ended like that. I can't wait to get my hands on Behemoth. I hear that there is a third in the works too, Goliath.

The Mortal Instruments series is sooooo good. I read a lot of young adult stuff, but it is not often that I really love them and want to recommend them to other people. I tell everyone who I know that reads about City of Bones and it's sequels though.

message 23: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Great reading! You read 1 ook that I loved, THG, and 7 books that I still have to read. Never heard of Stories of Ray Bradbury and 2041.

message 24: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Pfaff (kl_pfaff) The Stories of Ray Bradbury book was a huge anthology with 100 of Bradbury's short stories. It was worth the effort that it took to read it. Not all of his stories were great, but the ones that shined more than made up for the ones that lacked a little. 2041 was a science fiction anthology that I basically only read because it contained a story I read in elementary school that I wanted to read again. It was hard to find and, to be honest, wasn't that great anyway.

message 25: by Zakiya (last edited Sep 18, 2010 08:20AM) (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Cool! SoRB sounds pretty good. 2041 won me over with "science fiction," but then you said that it wasn't that good. I don't really read anthologies anyway (aren't they like collections of short stories?).

message 26: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Pfaff (kl_pfaff) Ray Bradbury is mostly science fiction too :)

Some anthologies are totally worth reading! There is a horror anthology called 999 that I loved. I have been working on The Living Dead (a zombie anthology) for a little while too.
