Romance Readers Reading Challenges discussion

Is there anyone out there but me that has not yet read the Vampire Academy Series? I have heard that these books are really good and I wanted to see if there is anyone else that would like to tackle this series with me. I thought we might read one book a month.

Discussion: Any and everything about the books, characters and our overall opinion about what we like or dislike about the series.

I haven't read them yet. I have heard alot about them, just hadn't made it to the top of the list yet. I'd definitely be up for reading them, but with other things I'm trying to fit in this summer (along with having to work:))...I might be better at one every 6 weeks or so.

I totally understand about being busy. I know that a lot of us are loaded up on books they want to read and are getting backed up so I would be flexible with the time frame if that's what we want to do :)

OOOOOH I want in! I will have to buy them on my Kindle though. I don't have them yet! I have had them recommended to me at least... 5 times I think? LOL! 5 months sounds reasonable but I wouldn't mind extending because I read super slow and I don't actually own them yet. So I need to figure how much they cost all together and spread the cost out a bit. I also don't have any gift-worthy holidays until my anniversary in November and my bday in December so I will have to be extra sweet to my bf for Amazon gift cards LOL. I can't wait to start... oh ya I can... I have June challenges I am in already! :)

I haven't read them yet, but I have the first three. I'd be willing to join you if you start in July. :)

This will be a heavy dare for me right now, it has been recommended quite a lot by my GR friends. Count me in, i can use all the company i can get for this one!LOL

Like Harper, i can't start until July though.

OK we'll start in July. What does everyone think about extending the duration to 6 weeks per book so that the others can join in?

6 weeks starting in July sounds good to me! I will download the books over the weekend. I love my new Nook in that I can take books with me and my bag isn't weighed down:)

I know what you mean Christine, i finally bought all the books recently thanks to Sony.

Christine, I know what you mean I have a Kindle and I think its the best thing ever made. I never run out of books anymore. And when I'm ready I download whatever I'm into at that time. Love It!

I've read all the books in this series. It was amazing. None of my friends have so all my comments are just in my head. I'll try my best to join even just in discussions. =) But its for July right? I can do a re-read I think. : )

I'm in, but may be a little out on the timing as my book-phobic sister wants to do an offline joint reading of them (which seriously proves just how good they are! She never reads!). I'll definitely be around though, if you'll have me :)

That sounds good. We'll start July 1st and finish on January 31st.

For those of us who would like some kind of a time frame her goes:

Let me know if I have any errors. And don't stress about the time frame you can just discuss the books as we go there won't be any penalties for being late or early LOL :)

I'm so excited about starting our challenge this month. Unfortunately I'm still waiting on Vampire Academy from the library even though I requested it almost a month ago. I look forward to seeing what everybody thinks. :)

I've read all the books and I'm in love with them! I can't wait till the last installment in the series come out! (Last Sacrifice) Trust me guys once you start this series you won't be able to stop reading them, they're addicting!!

I want to start soon but I still don't have any of them yet! I will try to get them soon. :)

Well, I have to tell you guys that I found that the books kept getting better and better with each book! but that's what I think! I know it's strange...the first book is always seems to be the best but not in this series...but that's what I think.

I have like 3 books to finish before i start this one, but i will probably do so sometime next week when am on vacation.

I have finished the first one and it was really good - I was truly surprised by the ending, and anymore that's a rarity for me! I'm loking forward to starting the 2nd one.

i really wish the second one would get here from the library.....

I really loved the first one and I can't believe it took me this long to finally read it.. sounds like everyone else thought the same. I was surprised at the ending too. didn't see it coming..

I haven't read the 1st one yet because of the long wait at the library and I need to finish up some books from other challenges. We should all be done by Aug. 12th then we can talk about this ending your all talking about with spoilers. I can't wait.

I need to buy the first book! Maybe soon! I probably will start it in early August!

I ran into a little problem! If I buy the Vampire Academy Collection, the first 3 books on paper it is about 9 dollars cheaper than Kindle. I don't normally have this problem. I was going to buy them one at a time on Kindle in case I didn't like them but now I don't know what to do!

I would go ahead and buy them in paperback to save the money. These books have been given lots of good reviews so I would take the chance. Do you normally like books similar to these?

I finished Vampire Academy and I really enjoyed it. I have to agree I was pretty happy with the ending and I am looking forward to see what happens in the next book. I look forward to Aug. 12th when we can discuss the first book. Happy Reading!

I'm already done all of these - I'd fallen in love with them at the beginning of last year. It's my favorite series, even from adult fiction. I know, that's a fail, but this is just AMAZING!

I loved the first one. Can't wait until we can discuss it!
