Rachel Stefano (CandyPanda) | 2 comments It's been a long time since I finished the series, and it's always left me with a sort of empty feeling. Do you know what I mean? I kept reading other books, but I was never able to recapture some of that Harry Potter magic that I really loved so much. But after long last, I'm finally starting to find a few that speak to me.

The Sea of Trolls (Sea of Trolls, #1) by Nancy Farmer The first is The Sea of Trolls, which gave me a glimpse of that relationship Harry had with Dumbledore. That bestowing of knowledge is just so beautiful.

The Synthesis (Powerless, #1) by Jason Letts And then this one is an unknown one I happened to stumble across, and I'm so glad I did! The series is called POWERLESS. It has that same sense of discovery and astonishment, and it's exhilarating to read. Mira Ipswich is sort of the opposite of Harry Potter in that she discovers exactly how un-chosen she is. You should absolutely check it out!

So what books let you recapture some of that Harry Potter Magic?

person (iwasachild) Okay. Here is the deal. Percy Jackson and the Olympians was an amazing series and I loved it to death. Twilight is an awesome series, too. So is the Chronicles of Narnia. The Eragon books are incredible. There are a lot of awesome books out there. A LOT. But there is just never going to be a book I love more than I love Harry Potter. I just have to accept it and get over it. After the movies come out, Harry Potter will just have to be relived over and over again, and we'll never get it that "one first time" ever again. I've accepted this. And sure, there will be other books out there that we'll like and even love. But the truth of the matter is that Harry Potter is the best ever and there is nothing else in the universe that will ever beat it, period. Harry Potter is the most epic series ever known to man and nothing will ever top it. N-O-T-H-I-N-G. Ever. That doesn't mean the Percy Jackson and Twilight and Narnia and Eragon aren't amazing books, it just means that Harry Potter is fifty infinity times better and always will be.

That is just the truth, and the sooner you accept it, the better, because we can't live our lives expecting something as amazing as Harry Potter to just fall back into our laps. It won't happen. It sucks, but it's the truth. Nothing will ever match Harry Potter. Ever. And that's the end, period.

of course there's nothing as exciting as HP series...but we need to feel the hole in our chests somehow(even if it never gets full).so,we should read books that remind us Harry because that's the only way to feel that hole.
i also liked lord of the rings!i think that Shelob(the freaking spider which bit Frodo) is Aragog's ancestor!

Oh it feels so good to know people who know how I feel when I read books. When I read books, I'm sure if I had never of read Harry Potter, I would have thought were the most amazing books in the world; but now nothing can compare. If you look at my books, I have about 2-4 books that are 5 stars besides Percy and Harry.

Finally by Wendy Mass I like all of the Wendy Mass books, I find them amusing :)

The Maze of Bones (39 Clues, #1) by Rick Riordan I also like the 39 clues, but I've only read the first 2 books. Better get going!

The last book I liked was The 68 Rooms.

That's one of the things I like about them. You can read a couple of them in one day. :)

No they just published the ninth... I think it's called "Into the Storm" and it has a ship on the cover... I think Margret Peterson Haddix is writing the tenth one!!!!!

No, Rick Riordan is writing the final one. He wrote the first, and last.

Lizzy wrote: "PS about the margaret peterson haddix thing-- yes, it's true that she wrote the tenth one and that the series is NOT ending on the tenth one."

Really? How many books are there going to be?

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

Lizzy wrote: "Idk. more than ten."

Hmmm... I'll have to go Google it.

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

I googled it and I couldn't find anything. :(

Probably. And a leading factor could be I'm too lazy to look longer than 5 minutes. ~:)

Randi (The Artist Formerly known as Guitar Chick) (guitarchick) Kiki Strike had very much the same effect on me as Harry Potter. I wanted to do something about injustice.
Percy Jackson was very creative.
Lord of the Rings. Once you get used to the launguage, it's very good. And if you aren't up to reading the books, go watch the extended versions of the movies. And my spoof here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKWuks... (hhahaha! Plugging myself is fun!)
