Cozy Mysteries discussion

I've been going through the states & jotting in books. This will help me to read ones that I've had in my TBR pile but have by-passed because something else sounded at the moment. Usually I finish a book and see if it will fit somewhere. Planning will help me, well, plan on what I'm reading.

I've been working on this one for over a year and still haven't finished it!

My mom at the ripe old age of 93 has finally had time to sit and read this past year. She has been reading the "Love Finds You" series. There is a book written for every state. She sent me "Love finds you in Hope, Kansas" for Christmas. A little bit of romance, Maybe some mystery (not sure), and a little faith thrown in.

Thought I add these titles for your challenge. They may not fit under Cozy Mysteries though.

Oh, that sounds like so much fun! Count me in too! Now, to combine that with the winter challenge... :)

It's wonderful your mom can read! My mom is 92 but her eyesight is gone which is especially sad as she used to be a reader many moons ago.

While my Dad was alive Mom didn't read much--too busy. Now she lives alone so has a lot of time. She has read several of these books and seems to really enjoy them. i am lucky she is so healthy at her age. Enjoy the challenge.

Last year I got 23/50 read, so I am restarting it this year!

I have a question, If a book starts off in one state for the first two chapters but them moves to a different country for the rest of the book do you count it in your challenge?

I just finishsed (I have decided not to limit my genre though I guess it could count as a mystery) and it starts off in Florida for the first chapter or two but ends up in Romania.

Looks like fun, I'll try this challenge... I'll take the bonus challenge: ONLY mysteries.
The idea is to read one book set in each of the 50 US states plus the District of Columbia. This is not where the author is from, but where the book is set.

If anyone is looking for a Missouri mystery for their list, I'd like to suggest my own books, KILLERWATT and KILLERFIND, the first two Rhetta McCarter mysteries which are set in Southeast Missouri. Both are available in print and eBook on Amazon.

Check out Elaine Viets' Dead-End Job Mystery and Josie Marcus series, Denise Swanson's Little Shop of Homicide, Rett MacPherson's Torie O'Shea series, Page Shelton's If Fried Chicken Could Fly, or the Heaven Lee mysteries by Lou Jane Temple. All of them take place in Missouri.

There is also one called "Buying Time" by Kelly Cochran that is set in Missouri. It is a cozy mystery. Female sleuth, named Aspen Moore. I enjoyed it.

Thanks all! What with downloading free mysteries to my Kindle every day and my stack of actual books, I have lots of reading ahead of me! Hopefully, the states will just fill in naturally....

Briansgirl, is it possible to set up a list with links to everyone's list somewhere at the start of the thread? I am doing a challenge in another group with a big thread like this, and it's really handy.

Can anyone tell a luddite how to put the title and author next to a state in one of these lists without having it appear at the bottom, and having to manually move it up?

Beth ~ Unfortunately, GR automatically adds links to bottom of the post, no matter where you put your cursor. There's no other way to add it other than manually. :-\

Yep, you have to cut/paste it after it's posted to the bottom. A real pain in the, um, ear.
