I'll take a peek. I'm going through my bookcases (all 11!) trying to weed out what I'm not going to read. That will give me a chance to update my master list and add what state the book is set in. I tried with paranormal/urban fantasy and it was hard to find states like Vermont and South Dakota.

Oh, I love this idea!! WAY back when I was younger, I joined one of the many, many book-in-the-mail clubs, and the contemporary romances I got were each set in a different state.

I've a list of state-based books somewhere as I was looking to see if anyone had yet to write a series here in Springfield, IL... Hopefully I can find it again!

I may do this assuming I can add the books I have read over the past 2 years as well. Not sure how I missed this challenge.

I plan on finishing up this challenge this year (started 2 years ago). I am down to my last 4 states (see message #328). I do have my books already pre-selected for those states - just need to find the time to fit them in!

Arm chair travel is absolutely wonderful. Your list is extensive, but you give no authors or titles.....so what do we read to travel through the book universe? What authors? What state? Would love a list. Great idea!!!

Memo: Not sure who your message was in reply to, but I'm going to guess you are not sure how this challenge works. The rules were posted in the first message of this discussion, which I will post again below:

The idea is to read one book set in each of the 50 US states plus the District of Columbia. This is not where the author is from, but where the book is set. There is no official timeline for this challenge. Just fill in as you read. At least half of your books must be mysteries, to keep with the theme of the group (although they need not necessarily be cozy).

To add to that: YOU choose which books/authors you want to read for each state. Some states will be more difficult to do than others. For example, there are TONS of books set in California, New York, Virginia, Texas, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, and the New England states, but the Dakotas, Alaska, Delaware and Hawaii are harder to come by. Look back through previous posts by other group members if you need title ideas for some states.

Hi Pat, I really liked Plantation Shudders. I loved the setting! The characters were good and there was just a touch of romance. I would definitely recommend.

Thanks, Heather. I already have my books picked out for Delaware and Mississippi, and they are both mysteries. I hope to read the Delaware one this summer.

I let this fall away a bit. I'm going back to my shelf from last year to fill in a bit and continue through this year. I had not intended to make this a two year challenge but I want to finish it.

I don't know how I missed this challenge; it looks like fun! Especially since there is no definite time frame... My first will be a mystery set in Wisconsin, which will double as number 5 (cheese and dairy) in the June mini challenge! :)

I just finished reading a Rhode Island cozy mystery and it was a well written story involving a ghost. This book has a 2004 copy right so there are more books set at this location. If you need this state to finish the USA challenge this series is an entertaining book to fill that Rhode Island spot.

I agree Marie, I do know how I have missed the challenges. I haven't been paying attention. I need ideas for my blog. So these challenges are providing inspiration.

I love all these challenges, and I know Heather works hard on them! (Thanks, Heather!) I like how they make me read out of my regular zone, and that is good for me. :)

Beverly, thanks for posting your list! I might borrow some titles. I recently started this challenge and have only one down, a book set in Wisconsin! :)
