Dangerous Hero Addict Support Group discussion

I'm a huge fairy tale fan. I can't help it. My mom read them to me and they stuck with me. Right now, I'm watching Faerie Tale Theater on DVD on my computer.

So, I ask, if you are a fairy tale fan, what fairy tale would you like to be in?

Here are mine:

The Snow Queen
The Twelve Dancing Princesses
East of the Sun, West of the Moon
Beauty and the Beast

I don`t think I could pick just one-I know it wouldn`t be the Little Match Girl.Everyone said that one really impressed me when I was little and it still does.But what a good question Danielle

There are so many good fairy tales. It's hard to choose.

I agree it is hard to choose from but I always wanted to be the Robber Girl in the Snow Queen. I also like cinderella and Rapunzel.

When I became a feminist, I realized how biased they were, the princess must be saved and the queens have to be killed and are evil.

Maybe so, but I think they also show female empowerment. There are many fairy tales where the princess/heroine saves the day through her ingenuity and her endurance.

I'd love to be in beauty and the beast, but I can't always decide which of the two I'd like to be.

A hard question since there are some great fairy tales out there. I do like Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast and Rapunzel but I think it would have to be either Princess and the Pea or Rumpelstiltskin or The Ugly Duckling.

I would have an easier time with which book/character would you like to step into? Course maybe not. Too many to pick from. ;)

It's funny that this topic came up because my daughter asked me this question a few weeks ago and all I could say was that NO WAY would I want to be Snow White....she had to take care of 7 little men! I wouldn't trade places with her for nothing.lol

I always liked Cinderella, but I also would love to be Red out of little red riding hood. and then there is snow white too!

I think Jasmine out of Aladdin, I am thinking of the Disney film, where she has a pet Tiger! How cool is that

If it's a Disney film, I think many times the villians are more fun. I'd like to be Cruella DeVille.

Beauty and the Beast! Or the Little Mermaid (not the original one in which she dissolves in bubbles though).

Love Cinderella but I'd be fired from the part after an hour - I am clueless around cleaning!

Beauty and The Beast (I like the one in the Walt Disney movie where she's always reading and gets the most amazing library for a gift, lol.. but I like any B&B retelling! I also like East of the Sun, West of the Moon, Danielle.. Same main theme for me :-)

Cinderella - love any story with a Cinderella theme!

I also love Disney's Aladdin... Jasmine was so pretty:-) And who would say no to a magic carpet!! :-D

I kind of like Sleeping Beauty, but the prince does everything while the while she sleeps through the good parts of the story! So not sure I'd like to be her:-) And I like Ariel (Disney), but I'd hate to not be able to talk, lol!

When I was reading lots of Fantasy, I loved how authors reinterpreted fairy tales! Especially those from Europe, Russia, etc. But honestly, I've never wanted to be a character from a fairy tale. A Roxanne St. Claire novel, yeah!

I love Beauty and the Beast probably because I was hooked the TV series of that name with Ron Perlman as Vincent (half lion and half man )and Linda Hamilton as Catherine.

Russian fairytales are quite fascinating.

If I had to choose only one it would have to be Beauty and the Beast.

Other favorites of mine are Cinderella and Rapunzel.

I think many of us like Beauty and the Beast because it is one in which the heroine saves the hero. Many of the other classic fairy tales would now be classified as sexist.

I am partial to the villins though!

I love the wicked queen from snow white and the evil fairy from Sleeping Beuaty.

I loved Virginia from the mini series The 10th Kingdom. Could I pick to be her??

I would definitely be Gretel from Hansel and Gretel. I like how she came off as weak, always whining. Hansel was basically in charge until they got to the witch's house. Gretel was clever enough to trick the witch into the oven and saved the day. I also wanted to taste that gingerbread house. This story always made me hungry. lol

Good observation, Jael! Gretel does ultimately save the day. That's why I like about fairy tales. Usually the heroine does save the day (at least in many of the one's I read and loved).

My favorite is beauty and the beast, and it also seems to be the most popular. But I would probably choose The Tenth Kingdom, even thought its not a fairy tale it has all the popular fairy tales in it. But I don't remember if they had Beauty and the Beast.

I would say Cinderella but I hate to clean...LOL

I love fairy tales and folklore! Some of my favorite authors are those who have done fairy tale re-tellings.

You might like Mercedes Lackey series five hundred kingdoms. Their based on fairy tales and I really enjoyed them.

Danielle, I'm planning on reading those.

I loved the Princess & the Frog. I'd want to be Tiana's best friend Charlotte LaBouff I just loved how she would say

"Oh Pleeaassee Big Daddy Plleeaassee." In her southern accent. It was the best. Big Daddy was what we called my grandfather, boy do I miss him.

I loved Charlotte! She was just so bubbly!
