"What are you doing!?" Sariah screeched.
"Pipe down!" Mr. Johansen snapped.
"Lily! What are you doing to us?!"
Lily pursed he lips and said nothing. She just followed Mr. Johansen down a hallway to a small room lined with cages.
Markos felt a sharp ping in his arm as Lily slowly pushed him into a cage and shut the door. He saw a slight bit of blood leaking from his arm.
"Lily..." He saw her image go fuzzy as she put Sariah in one of the cages and poked her with a needle.
"Good work, Susan," He heard Mr. Johansen say as he began to fade away. "They'll make perfect mutants."

Wynne followed Xylia around everywhere. "I've never had a sister before!" she said, bouncing after the teenager. "I like your hair! Your mom is a good cook! Oh, can I see your room?"
At this, Xylia turned and smiled again. "No."
"Oh, okay..." Wynne said, biting her lip and running over to sit on the couch. "Want to read my report?"
Xylia hesitated and walked over. "...Sure. Since I have nothing else to do." She picked up the paper and read it. "This is pretty good for an 8 year old."
"Thanks!" Wynne beamed.
Xylia's mother came walking over and frowned, snatching the paper up from Xylia. "What are you doing? Reading this junk!" She sneered, scanning the paper and ripping it to bits. "Stop acting stupid, Xylia."
Xylia looked surprised at her mother's action, but quickly smiled that freaky smile again. "Sorry." She got up from the couch and directed that smile at Wynne. "If you're thinking that I'd actually read crap like that, you obviously have no brain."
Mother and daughter walked off, leaving Wynne feeling hurt and confused. But she liked it! She said it was good for a girl my age...

"I haven't seen Brian or Yi-Yan yet," Khala bit her lip. "But I saw Chang..."
"Where is he?!" Mei cried.
"I...I saw them bring him in though the halls..." She sat up slowly, her voice quivering. "He...had scales all over his body and snake fangs sticking out his mouth. His feet...kinda looked like gecko feet..." Mei couldn't help notice that Khala's eyes were getting shinier and shinier. "But...he...he was as limp as a blanket...and I'm pretty sure...he wasn't breathing."

"Free." Spearmint whispered.

Cherry was still stuck. STILL?

Sable couldn't believe it. Spearmint had abandoned her.

Mimi glared at the whitecoat. "Why am I here? You've tortured me enough. Just kill me."
He laughed. "Not yet, little girl.
Mimi shrieked and threw fire through the cage bars.

Zoe was hanging off a tree branch by her knees, looking through a book on exotic animals. Being only 3, she couldn't read, but she could look at the pictures. Her favorites were the big cats- snow leapords, tigers, cheetas, and more- but especialy the juagars. They were so majestic (a word she's heard her aunt use), looking graceful and proud, though not in a bad way. Her thoughts were interupted by someone calling her name, and she peered around the book to see the pourch hanging upside down, her aunt in the back door. Tucking the book under one arm, she pulled herself up onto the branch, the world righting itself as she did so. She waved to the house with a big grin to show she had heard, and climbed back down to the ground before racing inside.
"Wash up!" called her aunt from the kitchen.
"You mean, wash my hands?"
Her aunt sighed. "You know what I mean."
Zoe put the book on the table and walked into the bathroom, pulling her stool next to the sink so that she could reach. When she'd finished, she skipped back out to find her aunt placing a pot of spagetti on the table. "Yum!" She sat down, and her aunt spooned a portion onto her plate. Zoe started to eat quickly, her aunt at a slower pace.
"Zoe, what's this?" she asked after a few minuits, reaching across the table to tap the book.
Zoe's eyes lit up, and she left her food to show her aunt. "I'ts a book on animals, see?" she said excitedly, opening it. "This one's the best." She pointed to the picture of the juagar that she had been looking at before.
"Very nice," said her aunt, but there was the strange look in her eyes that she got sometimes when she saw Zoe. "Finish your dinner."
A few nights later, Zoe's aunt crept into her room where she was sleeping quietly. "You'll be sleeping a bit longer than usual tonight," she said malisiously, sliding a needle into the small girl's arm.
Zoe woke up in a cage. "Aunty?" she called, confused. What happened to my room?
"Your aunt isn't here," said a voice to the left, and Zoe looked over to see another girl about her age gazing at her with sad eyes. "My name's Candi. Candidia, really, but I like Candi better."
"I'm Zoe," said Zoe, still hopelessly confused. "Why are we in cages? Did they take your aunt too?"
"No," said Candi sadly. "I was born here." Her skin seemed to ripple and change, and suddenly she was covered in white fur instead. Zoe's eyes widened and she gasped.
"They did this to me," said Candi, lifting her hands to show short, stubby claws. She looked like she was about to cry. "They're going to do it to you too."
"They-they wouldn't," said Zoe.
"They will," said Candi, just as a woman in a white coat walked in.
"I see you're finally awake. It's about time." The whitecoat bent to open the cage. "We're going to ask you a few questions first."
Zoe dumbly allowed herself to be pulled through the halls by the strange woman. They got to a room with chairs, and she was pushed into one.
The questions seemed to go on forever, things like 'Do you have any brothers or sisters?' and "Where does your uncle work?" When it was over, Zoe was led back to the same cage.
"We'll see you tomorrow," said the woman with an unkind smile, and she left the room.
"Wash up!" called her aunt from the kitchen.

Her aunt sighed. "You know what I mean."

"Markos," He felt someone shaking his shoulders. "Markos..." He slowly opened his eyes to see Lily's face. "Oh morning honey."
"Lily..." He smiled. "It was all just a dream? I was dreaming?"
"About what?"
"I dreamed I was in this place...there were cages everywhere...you took me to this room and stuck a needle into Sara..."
Lily's eyes looked like she was about to cry. "Markos...your weren't dreaming."
Instantly, he sat up, seeing that he still was in a cage. "B-b-b-but..." He felt something furry brush his face. He looked down to see a tail going nuts like a cat when it searched for birds. "What is this? What am I..." He shifted around. No, he wasn't sitting on anything...it was still there though. He glanced at Lily longingly. She had the same hurt felt eyes she had when she picked them up and put them in the cages.
"Markos....I...I'm truly sorry. You see, Mr. Johansen..." That's when he realized the tail was attached to him.

"But...he...he was as limp as a blanket...and I'm pretty sure...he wasn't breathing."
Mei shivered all over. "But...Chang...he can't be..."
"I'm pretty sure he was dead too," Someone next to her said.
"BRIAN!?" Khala yelled. "What in the world did they do to you!?"
"Brian?"
"Yeah it's me, Mei," The person said.
"WHAT DID THEY DO TO YOU!?"
"I don't know!" A strange scaled tail stuck out of the cage bars next to her.
"Brian! You have a tail!"
"He has more than THAT!" Khala screamed. "LOOKATHIM!"
Mei shifted her head to look into the cage next to her. As she saw Brian, she froze in fear looking at his features. Sure, he still had his flaming red hair and green eyes and even some of his freckles but he had something more. He, first of all, had a snout. Not a nose a snout. Scales crawled all over his face and arms and even parts of his legs. Worst of all, razor sharp teeth poked out of his snout.
"A...A..." Not thinking straight, she said as if it was a drill, "A is for Alligator."
"Worse," He simpered. "Crocodile."

A few days later, Mei was still in this place the other mutants around her called the School. She didn't have a clue why; school was fun! She would of never missed out on one day if she had to. Then again, Brian had told her school got harder as you got older. Mei played with her ears, knowing she'd never get to know that for sure.
The pink haired girl, Tamyra, came in. Mei could see that on her right cheek were scratch marks. Serves her right! She thought, knowing it was her who did that. First she takes Daddy then she turns me into a mutant.
"Your father wants to see you this morning, Mei," Tamyra walked over with a clipboard. "Today is your first test."

Carol saw Adrian again. This time, they were put in the same room in cages. He stared at her, pained and scared, which made her worried. Adrian was never scared. Why should he be now?
After a while, when the scientists left, he looked down and said, "Happy late birthday."
"Thanks," she mumbled, picking at the bars.
"I heard what happened."
"Whaddya mean?"
"You know...with the fangs and all."
"Oh." She gulped, ashamed. "I don't know what happened, I'm sorry..." She tried to choke back a sob.
Adrian looked up and smiled. But it was a different smile, hard and cold. It didn't fit on his face. "That's okay. The lady deserved to die."
Carol's lip trembled. "But...Adrian, are you okay?" It's not right to kill people, she thought.
"I'm fine." The cold look entered his eyes. "Obviously you're not. You should be happy you killed one of those..." He trailed off, his hands clenching into pale fists. "I would've bitten all the others, if I were you."
"But...but..." Carol blinked back tears. "Adrian, did they change you too?" She couldn't bear it if another family member was taken away from her.
Adrian opened his mouth. He looked sad. "I...Sorry, Carol." He reached through the bars and patted her on the hand. "Don't listen to me, 'kay?"

"Where's Sariah?!" Markos asked, wondering what Mr. Johansen did to her.
"She's...in the process of being mutated...uh I mean..." Lily covered her mouth as her eyes grew more teary.
"Mutated...? You mean they mutated me? D-did you..."
He saw Lily bite her lip so hard a bit of blood started to trickle down. "Markos...I really...I mean...I did...."
"You did?" Markos tried not to look devastated, only hurt. How could Lily do this to him?
"I didn't want to, Markos," She sighed, letting a stream of tears go down her rosy cheeks. "I...I tried to quit this job but...Mr. Johansen said that I could after I did this project...you...and your sister..."
"Susan!" Someone called. "Your taking an awfully long bathroom break!"
"Sorry, just got out," She called back. She stuck her finger into the cage and tweaked Markos' tail. "Your sister will be back soon....I'm sorry if she looks threatening...I didn't choose her mutation like I did yours."

It was then Carol noticed Adrian's wings. Large, feathery and brown, they looked similar to an angel's wings. "You have wings?"
"Yeah." Adrian smiled briefly. "You should see me fly! It's pretty easy..."
Carol nodded, her eyes round with interest. Before she could say anything more, a whitecoat came in and grabbed her out of the cage. "You're coming with me." She turned around to see Adrian with the cold look on his face again.
Carol was dragged into a room where there were two ladies and one girl about her age sitting on a lab table. The taller lady spoke. "We heard that you've killed one of our assistants?"
Carol nodded slightly, unsure. She stole a glance at the other girl, whose hair covered her face. Fairy wings, sparkling and bright, sprouted from her shoulders.
The smaller lady smiled creepily. "We have just the place for you. Two mutants, capable of killing swiftly." A cage came down, locking both Carol and the other girl. "Have fun," the tall lady smirked, and they both walked out.
"Hi," the pretty and petite girl whispered. "My name's Wynne."
"Yeah." Adrian smiled briefly. "You should see me fly! It's pretty easy..."

"Test?" Mei perked up. "Like a number's test?"
"Something better," Tamyra put a key into the lock and gingerly turned it. "You're going to be tested on your fight skills."
"But I hate to fight!" She yelled.
"I don't buy it," She simpered.
"But I do!" Tamyra picked her up by her waist and hauled her over on her shoulder like a sack of potatoes.

((Zephyr...I'm going to start out Zephie's))
"Dr. Nyhus!" A young adult aged boy ran into the room, holding a limp creature. "I finally did it!"
Dr. Nyhus turned his eyes towards the boy. "Really?"
"Yes I swear!" He stopped near him and raised the creature to him. It was a young girl no older than three. Her hair was almost a wheat color and put into tiny braids. Her pale skin was covered in antiseptic and feather duff. Dark, brown eagle wings were attacked to her back, quivering ever so slightly as the boy showed his mentor the mutant.
"It's alive!" He smiled. "It's a miracle!"
Dr. Nyhus lifted his reading glasses and took the mutant's pale hand. He kept examining the mutant, his eyes full or worry.
"I'm sorry...but she needs to be thrown out."
"WHAT?"
"She's sick, boy," Dr. Nyhus said. "Either the child was ill or the bird was."
"B-but isn't there a way we can cure her?"
"Afraid not. It's almost incurable and contagious."
"But that's not fair!" He pursed his lips and clutched on to the mutant's body harder.
Ignoring the boy's protests, Dr. Nyhus grabbed the mutant from his arms and threw her out onto the lawn.
"I know how hard it's been with your experiments, Steven," Dr. Nyhus sighed as he saw his aching face. "But that mutant is another failure."
"Failure, failure, failure," He sighed angrily. "That's all I ever hear around here...."

((I did this in the RP when Willow read Fredric...))
It started off with a whitecoat running with Fredric down a hallway into a lab. He was dropped on the table like a box of good and the door shut tight. Banging could be heard on the door and various unhumalike screams. The whitecoat took Fredric out and put him on a table over a scanner. Moments later, he brought back brain scans only to have the door busted opened by a few mutants that looked like Zoe, Cindy and Zephyr. The whitecoat ran into the next room while a female whitecoat shot them down with daggers drizzled with liquid.
Once inside the room, the whitecoat looked at the scans, mouth agape.
"Magic...but how did...?"
The girl came in and tried to force answers out of him with an electric torture device. One seemed to be angry while the other quite satisfied.
It switched to another scene as he came out of a lab and was just let go by the boy whitecoat. Just...let go.
She could then see him with some members of the Fleet, holding his head in pain and crying out. Carol rushed over to his aid to heal him.
It only got worse from there as she saw him at the School, again, the same whitecoat talking to him sweetly like a father would.
"It's time you knew the truth Fredric," He said. "The truth about everything."
The whitecoat went on about how he was his first experiment to survive and how his mother had just abandoned him not wanting him to survive.
"..And one more thing. Your mother is my sister." The whitecoat was his uncle.
Then, she saw Fredric with the Fleet, moving his arms uncontrollably as someone screamed about it being mind control. It was as Fredric walked like a zombie though the forest talking to Seinna and capturing Julia with Tank's aid. He flew back to the School with Tank and Julia only to have Julia go ballistic in the echo chamber the female whitecoat put her in. His uncle fell to the floor as Tank crushed him with a big bear hug.
The mind control continued as it spread from him to a Silencer as they were droned off to the School. Then images of a angry Silencer tearing up his uncle flashed as the whitecoat was knocked unconscious. Bones began to snap as Fredric ran out behind some other mutants. After a while, the School exploded in a giant fireball.
She then saw Fredric at school...not the deranged lab where always seemed to be but an actual school in PE running across the field kicking a ball. He tried to kick it and fell down on top of his leg, twisting in in the process. He tried to get up acting like it was all fine but the gym teacher noticed that part of his leg bone was sticking out.
He was then at a hospital, having x-rays done on his legs. The doctor turned to a lady and told her that Fredric needed to have his leg pinned. Fredric was then taken to a comfy bed with food by his side.
She saw as night fell, the same whitecoat come into his room on a wheelchair. Fredric looked at him, scared, and started to yell as the whitecoat kept asking him questions. Fredric got mad and pulled off a knit cap that covered his ears. The door opened; the doctor standing in the doorway.
The whitecoat gently escorted himself out (with the help of the doctor). She then came back as Fredric told her everything that had happened to him so far.
It cutted to the next scene where some members of the Fleet got him out and told him something about the lady which had been there; she was working for the School along with her brother. She could see the hurt in his face as they flew off with him to join up with the rest of the Fleet.
Willow then saw Fredric back with the Fleet in the forest. Again, something strange was happening to Fredric. His limbs froze up and he wailed in fright. A voice then spoke to him; his uncle. He said to come to the School or he would never get better. As he refused (as long as some of the other Fleet members) Silencers came up and started to attack them taking Fredric to the School.
Fredric then woke up in a cage, looking straight at his uncle (still in a wheelchair). She noticed Fredric looked different; claws on his hands and fur running down his forehead. He had gotten a new mutation.
It cut to another scene; Fredric sitting under a tree with a little girl with black and white hair smiling at him sweetly. She talked about being happy and to cheer up. Fredric just told her to buzz off or else. As she snuggled up close to him, he went crazy clawing into her skin and bitting into her throat before jumping off noticing he had killed her.

((When Willow touched Julia without her consent...))
Julia's eyes snapped open as soon as Willow touched her forehead. WIllow was taken back to a time when Julia was younger, about 4 years old, standing in front of an orphanage with a dropped knife at her feet. She noticed that her eyes were a strange white-ish color. Her slain parents were down behind her, the blood staining the hard, stony ground outside and being washed away by the rain.
It flash forwarded to when Julia was adopted years later, a feeling of happiness erupting through her mind. But it was gone when the people lead her to a lab and injected a needle into her pale skin.
Willow was then taken to another incident at a different school. Julia was standing in a lab room, being tested on the power of the demon she had been mutated with. With one swipe after another, she was able to break free from the room and stared coldly at the bleeding and wailing whitecoats with those same white eyes and flew away, the echo of the screams ringing in her sensitive ears.
Another flash forward. Willow saw as Julia was taken by whitecoats coming down from helicopters. Below her was a field full of dead and partially burnt and dissolved people mixed with ruins of the school. She saw as Julia sat stiffly in the helicopter, her head down, blood in her white hair. More killings soon after--Julia was moved from one school to another, the whitecoats being scared to deal with her.
After a couple of more incidents like these, Willow finally saw Julia in a cage. Tank had come in and was talking to her. After a few minutes, she was set free.
Now, Willow was in the echo chamber. Julia had black blood coming from her ears and she cringed at how much pain the girl was in. Fredric and Tank were there, too. Suddenly, the whitecoats were attacked and the room was dark. Willow observed how Julia swerved in to attack Tank, but hesitated and eventually got out with Fredric. And how she had joined the fleet.

"And I trusted you." Cherry whispered to the boy, tears in her eyes. "But you had to call them. And tell."
He shrugged. "You're a freak, girl. If you weren't a mutant, I'd gladly accept you as a foster sister. But you're not normal."
Cherry turned away, burying her face in her arms. "Fine! Be that way!"
His heart twinged. "Don't hate Mom or Dad. They wanted you. If you're going to hate somebody, hate me."
Cherry glared at him. "Go away." She spat.

Tamyra brought Mei to a windowed chamber filled with animals. She looked up at Tamyra blankly as she threw her in and shut the door.
"Here's your first test, Mei." She tossed some feed in though a small hole towards the animals. Mei just stood there. What was she supposed to do? After a while, Tamyra mumbled something and put a mark on the paper attached to her clipboard. She walked back in and put the animals in cages.
"What are you doing?" Mei asked innocently.
"None of your business. Now get ready that was the easy part."
Mei perked up. What? This isn't even a test!
Suddenly, a hatch in the chamber opened and a large mountain lion strolled in, setting its eyes on Mei and licking it's chops.
Frightened, Mei backed up into a corner as it slinked towards her, eyes full of hunger. It sprung up and pounced on her. She put her hands up and used her claws to scratch it's belly as it came down on top of her. It fell to the ground with a thump but got up soon after. IT came towards her again. She decided to move first and jumped on it, biting into it's neck. The cat thrashed her off into the wall and ran towards her.
So this is my test! She screamed in her mind. No no no no no! Daddy, why!? In anger, she slashed the cougar's face and bit into it's throat. IT made a yowl and fell to the ground. She kept clawing at it's throat until someone picked her up.
"You passed," Tamyra said. "Good job."
"I HATE these tests!" She was still angry and aimed for Tamyra's jugular.
"MEI!" Something shot her in the back. "Oh I knew she was going to do this...."
Mei began to feel woozy again. She heard her dad walk up towards her.
"Mei...I'm afraid we'll have to transfer you..." His voice cooed as his face appeared in front of her eyes. "Your too much for us to handle. Your siblings almost died with that test in fact your brother Brian did."
"BRIAN!?" She cried out.
"He couln't keep focused and we got the cougar out too late," Tamyra simpered.
"Your going to Arizona, Mei," She heard her father say as everything went fuzzy and gray like an old movie. "Your going to Arizona."

"Nice to meet you," Carol said, staring at the door. "I'm Carol."
"'Kay," Wynne nodded. Her eyes hardened a little; a strange sight for an 8 year old. "How did you get here?"
Carol blinked. "I..." she mumbled something incoherent, looking as if she was about to cry.
Wynne tilted her head, deciding to ask about it later. Her wings accidentally bonked Carol on the head. "Sorry!"
"Oh, that's okay," Carol smiled weakly, holding her head. "I'm fine."
Wynne looked at Carol doubtfully. "If you're sure..." She directed some light onto Carol's head. There was a small bump from where her wing had hit. "Ouch."
Carol's mouth was agape. "You...what did you just do?"
"Oh, this?" Wynne moved the light around the room like a firefly. "Part of being a fairy, I guess."
Carol was silent and sat down. She is too serious for her age, Wynne thought. But I'm not really surprised...
A whitecoat walked in. One of the two skinny ladies. She smiled. "A new test for you two," she sneered, using the remote to pick up the cage automatically.
Carol and Wynne were nervous, sharing confused glances. They were dragged down to a strange arena of sorts. The whitecoat unlocked the cage. "You two will be fighting them," she grinned. "To the death. The winner does...well, you'll see."
Carol and Wynne looked across the field. Carol couldn't believe her eyes. "Tha...that's my cousin..." she whispered, pointing at Adrian. There was another girl and guy, too, but they looked older than all of them by a few years.
"What? Cousin?" Wynne glared up at the lady. "What are you doing?"
"Shut up!" the lady snapped. "Now hurry up and fight, for Pete's sakes!" She walked out, closing the metal doors behind.
It was then that Carol realized that there was a sort of metal chain on Adrian and the other kids' arms.
"Adrian," Carol said, running over and giving him a hug. "Don't worry, I won't--" She shrieked in pain as Adrian ran claws down her arm. Hardly believing it, she gripped her bleeding arm as Wynne flew over. "Those chains," she pointed. "If they don't fight they'll be electrocuted."
Carol gulped and ran forward, biting the other girl on the hand as she lunged. The mutant dropped dead on the ground. The other boy was much harder to catch.
Wynne flew up, as did Adrian. "Attacking your cousin like that," Wynne scolded, her eyes flashing. "What sort of a person are you?" She flashed a beam of light into his eyes and he plummeted to the ground.
Carol dodged out of the way as Adrian came down and killed the other distracted guy with a swift bite with her fangs. She turned to stare at Adrian, who lay motionless. Is he dead? Oh please please please don't let him die...
"He's alive," Wynne said, lightly touching down beside her, moving back as Adrian stirred and got up quickly. His blank eyes moved to Carol and he shot forward, his claws at her throat.
Well, I guess this is it, Carol thought. I guess I deserve dying like this, huh?
But, to her surprise, the blow never came. She felt the grip release from her throat and opened her eyes to see Adrian looking horrified. "I...Sorry," he whispered, his voice strained. All of a sudden, sparks came out from the bracelet and he fell onto the ground, writhing in pain.
Wynne came to help Carol up. "There's nothing you can do," she gently told Carol. "We have to leave him..."

"So Mei is in the Arizona Institute now, huh," The red-haired boy stuck a needle into another experiment.
"Yes..." Mei's father had his elbow on a nearby counter and his hand on his head as he sat on a chair. "I've been worried about her..."
"But she's just an experiment, Dr. Yi," The boy added. "You shouldn't be so worried..."
"She's my daughter, Mr. Bastard," He growled. "I should be worried about her."
"She's fine," He walked over to a cabinet and took out a tool. "I can't believe I'm the one giving you this pep talk; you used to be my mentor!"
He glared at the boy, looking angry. "You don't really care about your family, do you Glen?"
"I do too! I wrote to my sister seeing if she wanted to work for the institute."
"What about your parents?" He stood up. "I've never heard you talk about them."
"They're nothing," Glen walked back to his experiment, avoiding Mei's father.
"Exactly what I mean!"
"But you don't seem to care that your two boys died!" Glen cried. "You seem to care more about that punk girl who follows you around!"
"I do care!" He yelled. "You didn't see me cry when Brian died!"
"Do I care?" Glen slammed his hands on the table.
"You should." He ran out of the room.
"Screw you, Sundata," Glen snarled. "You care about them as much as you care about every other experiment."
"Yes..." Mei's father had his elbow on a nearby counter and his hand on his head as he sat on a chair. "I've been worried about her..."

((this stuff is funnnnnnnnnnnnnn))
He took a step closer to Cherry. "Cherry, I didn't mean... Yes I did."
She looked up. "Make up your mind, boy." Her voice was flat; emotionless. "Or I'll make it up for you."((i've got no more to add....))

((finally getting round to Isabel... i think she's the last of my mutants...))
Isabel woke to another dreary day at the orphanage. She was 3. I ahte this stupid place! I t doesn't like me anymore that I like it! Where are my parents? She sat up in her bed, and scurried to get dressed quickly to avoid a beating. "Isabel! Why aren't you ready like the other children?" The lady who ran the orphanage was standing at the foot of Isabel's bed, staring at her disaprovingly down her nose. The lady looks like she smelled something nasty. "I'm sorry m'am. I must have overslept." She stared at her feet, wondering what her punishment would be this time. The lady sighed. "I don't know what I'm going to do with you Isabel. Come to my room after breakfast please." The lady moved dwon the row of beds, and Isabel sighed in relief and aniticipation. Is my punishment so bad she can't tell the other children about it? Or am I off the hook? She rushed to finsh getting dressed, and followed the other children down to the dining hall. She sat with her only friend, and together they ate quickly, and then discussed what Isabel's punishment might be. As soon as breakfast was over, Isabel left the group, and made her ay up the stairs to the lady's room. She knocked on the door, and was admitted immediately. "Isabel, you are a burden to this orphanage. I'm afraid you must leave to live somewhere else." She turned, and introduced the man that had been standing in the corner. "Isabel, this man's name is Harold. He is here to take you to your new home." Isabel looked crushed, but nodded silently. Stupid witch. Of course, now I can get out of here. But where am I going? Harold stepped forward, smiling, so Isabel figured the place she was going to couldn't be that bad. "Come with me Isabel." He led the way out of the room, down to a car waiting outside. Isabel stopped at the front door. "But. But my friends. What about them?" Harold turned. "They're not allowed to come. Now, in the car." Isabel looked dwon glumly, and did as she was told.

"Sorry, just got out," She called back. She stuck her finger into the cage and tweaked Markos' tail. "Your sister will be back soon....I'm sorry if she looks threatening...I didn't choose her mutation like I did yours."
About an hour later, Lily and Mr. Johansen came in with Sariah. Markos was shocked to see her limp arm hanging down, claws hanging out.
"OHMYGOSH! What did you DO to her?"
"Ah, I see he's awake," Mr. Johansen sighed. "None of your business, you. Susan, put her in her cage; I'll get some food to calm them down..."
"Yessir," Lily watched as he handed her Sariah and walked out of the room. Instantly, she looked at Markos, a tear rolling down her eye.
"Markos....I..."
"I know you've said it fifty million times," He smiled playfully, trying to entertain her with a joke.
"Markos, it's not funny...I really am sorry."
"What did Sariah get...mutated with?" The words left a lump in his throat.
"A cougar," She sighed. "Mr. Johansen wanted something strong."
"Cougar?"
Mr. Johansen soon came back in as Lily quickly put Sariah in a nearby cage. He handed a bowl of something to Lily and pointed to Markos. She walked over and opened his cage, putting the bowl inside.
"Oatmeal?" Markos made a face. "You know how much I hate that stuff."
"Shshshshsh..." Lily quietly put her finger to her lips. "I'll be back later; just try and stomach it."

Lily did come back as soon as Sariah woke up. She had a slice of pizza for each of them. Markos took it gladly, garfing down the slice of heaven. Sariah looked at Lily with yellow eyes and pushed it away.
"I don't trust you."
"Sara...I know it hurts you but..."
"I don't trust you." She said again. "Go curl up and die."
"Sariah..." Lily looked hurt. "I know how confusing this is for both of you...but I didn't mean to. I never wanted to..."
"Susan?" Mr. Johansen's voice called. "I need to drive you home!"
Lily bit her lip. "I have to go. I'm really sorry Sariah."

Karen couldn't believe it. Her younger siblings... Gone. So was their friend, Mimi. They were adorable. Who could have kidnapped such young kids? Who could have been so evil?
Her eyes filled as she walked to school.
Facing the maroon buildings, she made a resolve. "I'm going to be a doctor. So that I can save lives."
She didn't know how true that first part would be. But she would do more than save lives. She'd make lives.

A few days later came the hardest hours of Markos' life.
Living in the cage was like rotting his brain. He had nothing to do; no coloring books, paints or paper whatsoever not to mention his Pokemon cards weren't there either. Sariah just couln't stop complaining like an old angry grandma; blah blah this and that about Lily every day until Markos swore his eardrums would rupture and he'd bleed to death.
Mr. Johansen was the first in that morning, his clunking steps making chills go up his spine. Lily was close behind him, as always, looking like she wanted to die. They stopped near the entrance to the room the cages were in and chatted before Mr. Johansen walked in.

Markos winced as Mr. Johansen pulled out a needle with yellowed liquid inside and closed his eyes. When he didn't feel the sharp point poke him, he opened his eyes to see him pull it out of Sariah's skin.
"You MADMAN!" Sariah reached her claws up to claw him but didn't have the energy. "Lily! I hate you! I HATE YOU!"
Markos watched as Mr. Johansen walked out with her saying, "Yep, this'll be perfect."
"Lily?" Markos asked worried. "Lily?" Lily just gave him a silent look, her eyes glassy and wet and followed Mr. Johansen out.
Markos, He heard a voice say. It's me, Lily.
Wha...how can I hear you? He thought, knowing she wouldn't hear.
Psychopathy, Lily replied. You can move inanimate objects too if you really concentrate...and you can see though other people's eyes...but that'll wear off...it's not strong enough to last with your smart brain, Mark
Why must you do this to us? He asked Why must you lie like that?
I did lie, She sighed. And I did intend you to just be experiments when I first took the assignment of raising you. But...I grew to be like you mother and like every mother, I hate to see you guys like this.
So why do you do it?
I don't know but I won't do it any more. Markos, try to look though my eyes. If anything happens, I love you.

"You're pathetic," the whitecoat sneered, kicking at Adrian and getting dust into his eyes. "Pathetic. Beaten by two girls, no less!" The whitecoat stoppeed pacing and drew out a syringe. Jamming it into Adrian's forearm, she chuckled. "Let's see what this does."
Adrian immediately felt his muscles weaken like Jell-O even more than his current state. As much as he didn't want to, he closed his eyes with the sound of the whitecoat's laughter in his ears.
When Adrian woke up, he didn't notice much change. He was back in a cage again, and the chains were finally taken from his wrists. But something felt...different. The whitecoat he had seen earlier came by and smirked. "How's it like being dead?" she said smugly.

Test tube baby. Lab child. Gene kid. Mimi punched the side of the cage viciously, setting it on fire. So what if she burned. She wasn't having a life in this cage.
No.
She had wings.
She could hear at bat frequencies.
She could use fire.
She could spin silk.
She could suck blood, and give people diseases.
She was no human.
She was a mutant.
-------------
Cherry closed her eyes, fighting the obvious tears. "This is a dream." She told herself. She knew it wasn't.
"Have a good sleep?" Karen asked Cherry. "I hope you did. We're going out today."
-----------
Spearmint glanced cautiously around her, swiftly undid the lock on Sable's cage, grabbed her twin's wrist, and together they dashed away, heading for the wall. Sable put a lot of faith in Spearmint's new abilities.

Mr. Johansen walked down the halls with still angry Sariah trying to kill him. Markos watched as another whitecoat followed behind, holding two large dog crates with grotesque creatures in them. He sensed Lily being uncomfortable and doing something with herself...he wasn't quite sure but it was disturbing him.
"Here, Susan," Mr. Johansen plopped Sariah into her arms. "Hold her for a second," He got out another needle and stuck it into her skin, making her perk up. "Now put her in the cage..."
Lily struggled with herself as she put Sariah, now springing to life, into the cage. "Lily! Why are you doing this?" Lily bit her lip. Markos couldn't pinpoint her true feeling but it was more like dread.
"Thank you," Mr Johansen picked up the crate and pointed to Lily to open the door. She opened the door to a open field slightly lightened by the light of dawn.
"Thank you Susan now step aside, we have some heavy cargo."
"No," Lily said, blocking the door all together. "I won't move."

"Preposterous!" Mr. Johansen said. "Please, Susan, now is not the time for jokes. Please move."
"You will not send Sariah out for this test." She snarled.
"Why not? I thought we agreed on her. Besides, she's the strongest of all the survived mutants."
"I will not let my baby die."
"Your baby?" He scoffed. "Susan, your not even married!"
"You told me to take care of them like a mother," Lily said. "Well, I did. I will not let her die."
"Well then," Mr. Johansen put Sariah's cage down. "Shall we test you on the Erasers instead? It hardly seems fair; you have no way to defend."
"No," She growled. "I am not moving! If you must get though, kill me. She will not die unless over my dead body!"
Lily no! Markos thought. She didn't answer.
"Fine then, traitor." He clapped his hands. The whitecoat opened the two large crates; showing the animals inside. Like wild beasts, they jumped on Lily and tore at her clothes, screams from Lily splitting her ears. Markos saw as their jaws sunk into her legs and her arms so smoothly like it was butter. He heard bones crack and many other gruesome sounds including blood gurgling in Lily's throat.
Lily! Please! Lily no!
The next thing he saw was cage bars. Franticly, he tried to see though Sariah's eyes. As he did, he watched the whitecoat drag Lily's broken, bleeding body out of the doorway.

It only got worse as he watched Sariah be taken out to the open field. The sunrise's pink light made it look like a field of pink peppermints. Markos bit his own lip as Sariah was put near the end of the field, the horrible wolf things at the other. As Sariah was let out, the whitecoats moved away. He saw as Sariah lashed out at Mr. Johansen, taking a chunk out of his leg. The wolf things then grabbed her and began tearing her up. She fought back, snarling like a real cougar. Markos watched in pain as claws punctured skin and teeth broke bones but no one seemed to die. He soon saw there was a window nearby and noticed it led to his room. He watched out the window, silently cheering for Sariah but doubting it. He held his breath as Sariah killed on, biting into it's jugular and clawing it's throat opened.
Suddenly, the image from Sariah went flat and blood splattered on the window, scaring the wits out of him. Slowly, he raised his head back up to see what went on. The image haunted him the entire night; blood on the window over looking a wolf mutant eating his sister's arm like a chicken wing.

Dead?...I...Dead? Adrian numbly thought, his head whirring. How can I be dead? I'm still here, aren't I?
"Actually," sniffed the whitecoat, "you aren't completely dead, unfortunately."
Adrian rubbed his eyes. I must be dreaming.
"Look," the whitecoat pointed to his fingers, which were slowly fading to transparency and retaining its solid state again. "You are merely 3/4 dead. Which is why you still have color and also why you don't fade away like regular ghosts."
Adrian slammed his hand against the bar, halfway surprised to see it go through completely. He uneasily stood up and walked through the cage, not being bothered at all.
"Nobody else can tell you're dead," grinned the whitecoat, "not even healers or the strongest of sorcerers. That's your little secret, alright?"
Adrian unsteadily took a few steps forward, feeling more cold than usual. He shivered and sat down "Then why don't I slide through the floor?" he asked menacingly.
"You are 1/4 human--I mean mutant, after all," the whitecoat said, staring down at him. "Your feet don't go through things by themselves. Your head has to go first, or your arms, before your feet follow."
Adrian shook his head, squeezing his eyes tight, and kicked the whitecoat square in the face. He opened his eyes to see, to his satisfaction, that she had a bleeding nose, and crawled into his cage again.
Scowling, the whitecoat briefly grinned and said, "Not too bad for a ghost," before walking out of the room.

((*gapes at helen* *bursts into maniacal laughter*))
A woman sobbed into her hands, slumped at a table.
"It's for the better," growled her husband, standing in front of her. "We couldn't have cared for them properly."
"We could have if it weren't for you and your habits!" she cried.
"Are you questioning me, Leona?" The man's tone was threatening. The woman, Leona, shook her head misserably, before he beat her again.
"Good. I'll see you tomorrow." The man strode out, taking the check with him, the check he had gotten for their little twin girls; Molly and Maly.

Inna smilled and slid off the dragon's back. "Thanks Tyler," she thanked her brother.
"No problem," he said, from where he still sat. "Are you sure you want to do this? You know how different people can be when they don't know about-"
"About mythical creatures and magic, I know," Inna said, looking up at him. "Don't worry. The people I'll be working with aren't as blind as most of them. They know, in a rather short-sighted way."
Tyler sighed. "I'm still worried."
"Tyler, I'm not your baby sister any more," said Inna. "You can't always be hovering over me. Nor can you," she added, cutting of the dragon before she could say something. The dragon, Violetta, rolled her eyes.
"Be careful hatchling. We'll come if you call."
Inna nodded and stepped back as Violetta took a running start and was gone, wings beating powerfuly.
Time to start. She turned and looked at the featurless building of the School, then walked in.

"Ray!" Vicky playfully pushed her younger brother down. "Stop it!"
"Iiiiiii gotcha fooooot!" Raymond playfully ticked his older sister's foot. He loved hanging out with Vicky even though he was only five years old and she was about to get married. Still, he loved her to pieces. He was sure if Pearl could talk she'd be all over her oldest sister too.
But, he told himself, let's face the truth. She's not my biological sister. She was adopted when she was a teenager. Before mommy got divorced and re-married again. Whatever, he was all over Vicky.
"Gotcha!" Vicky grabbed him and ticked his sides until he pleaded for mercy and said she had won.
"Ready for a snack, buddy?" She smiled, putting him down and standing up. "I think mom made Muddie Buddies."
"You bet!"

Later that night....
"But...but Kyle!" Vicky's eyes were wet with tears. "My mom will kill me! We can't do this! It's just wrong!"
"Wrong?" He stared at her with deep brown eyes. "Vik, the world needs them. I've seen how strong Raymond is and he's only five! And what about little Pearl? She might follow in her brother's footsteps. C'mon, please Vik."
"Why?" She screamed. "Is it because you think I'll do anything for you? I could just throw this ring in the dust right now if I wanted too! How would that be, huh? Our happily ever after TERMINATED!"
Kyle sighed. "I know your mad, Vik, but we have to. It's for the good of the country. Maybe even the world..."
"No, Kyle," She shuddered, touching her engagement ring. "It's just plain wrong."
"Throw the ring down, Vicky," He scowled. "Go ahead. Throw it down."
"No. I love you."
"If you love me that much why are you holding back?"
"We'll have our own children and then you could use them. What makes you think you can take my siblings?!"
"They're not your siblings, Vik," He narrowed his eyes. "They're not related to you at all."
"Not biologically but who cares? I do!" Her face was now bright red and stained with tears.
"Don't refuse, Vik," He warned her. "Something bad will happen if you do."
"Like what? Isn't burning in heck enough!?"
"No Vicky. Way worse."
"I can't have this sin on my shoulders!" She picked up a dead stick and threw it at his head. "Stay away from my family! Don't ever come back!" She threw off her ring, threw it on the ground and stormed away.

He did come back. Later that night.
Something that Vicky had forgotten was that Kyle had easy access to her house. After all, he was her finance so he had the key. Still, he knew someone would be up and he would need help. He brought along reinforcements.
Raymond shot up in bed as he heard Pearl scream. Not like a 'I'm hungry feed me' scream; a scared scream.

He lead her into the house, where a tall, pale woman stood. "Meet your new mom!"
Wynne rushed up to the lady and gave her a hug. "Hi, mom!"
The lady smiled thinly and pried Wynne's fingers off her dress. "Hello." Her expression clearly read, Get off me, you little wretch.
Wynne's father smiled, embarrassed. "Sorry. Wynne can be energetic sometimes."
"Yes. Typical with...children."
"Oh, Wynne!" Her father turned and dragged out a girl who seemed 16 or 17. "Meet your sister, Xylia."
"Hi!" Wynne stayed back in case Xylia didn't want a hug. "I'm Wynne! I'll try by best to be an awesome sister!"
The girl named Xylia smiled creepily. "That sounds promising."
