The triwizard tournament is so cool. It would be kinda scary to be in but fun. I'd hate the underwater one!

my parents know some people like veelas. i havn't seen the movie (i'm not allowed to, because i am not yet 33) of HP5, so i don't know if they turn into the demonic birds that throw fire. do they?

message 14: by Kyra (new)

Kyra (kyraconteur) Veelas don't turn into demonic birds that throw fire. o.o Are you perhaps thinking of the phoenix? Fawkes, maybe? If not, well, that's just what it sounds like.

yeah, they do turn into demonic birds that throw fire if they are a. mad and b. 100% veela

message 16: by Kyra (new)

Kyra (kyraconteur) Really? Hm, I didn't know that...is it on a specific page in the book? Could you tell me so I could look it up?

message 17: by Pandy (new)

Pandy Does anyone have theories on why the Triwizard cup had to be turned into a portkey, when Crouch(Jr.) could have used anything and not have gone through the trouble of getting Harry through the Tournament? I don't think it would have been that hard to lure Harry out and transport him to the graveyard without being noticed for a while.

About the veelas, it's true they turn into demonic birds. It's at the bottom of pg. 111 in my American edition. The chapter is The Quidditch World Cup.

message 18: by Kyra (new)

Kyra (kyraconteur) Hm, I never actually thought about that before...I really don't have the slightest idea...that's deep thinking for you. Good job of coming up with that.

YES! A page number! I'll look that up as soon as I find my book again...I keep losing them.

yeah it's when the ireland mascots (leprechauns) flip off the veela mascots and they get mad so they turn into those birds and throw fire at the leprechauns...

I think the main reason Barty Crouch didn't take Harry to the graveyard randomly was because Voldemort intended to kill him, and it would have been bad for Crouch if he was caught. Harry would also be more likely to know what was happening if Crouch took him personally.
