Charlie also said (albeit about Hitler): "We have been taught to hate this person and see him as a monster. Whatever feeling I have towards him is clouded by a subversive form of mind control."

Looks like that same bit of mind control has you again, Charlie. While you're adding to your stack of leaders, chuck Clinton on the pile. The Balkans is reason enough, right?

The problem is always that we criticise our enemies and forgive our friends. Everybody does it, in both public and private life, both on the left and on the right. Some people condemned Allende and forgave Pinochet; some condemned Hitler and forgave Stalin; some condemn the Israelis but not the Palestinians. For others, however, it was the other way around.

Never trust a politician who talks about the human rights abuses of an enemy. There will always be those, equally bad people, whom he never condemns.

Indeed. Thank you for catching that. Sorry about my error.

Carlie | 86 comments I like being called Charlie. And Bob, I don't hate Bush. I was just trying to make the point that one could add anybody to that list.

I agree completely with Anthony. And add to that by saying "Never trust a politician who talks about the human rights abuses of an enemy"...for he commits the same atrocities but reasons himself to be in the right when he abuses humans himself.

DO you really think the people we label "evil" wanted to be "evil"? I don't. Just like we think lying (insert anything you believe is wrong here) is wrong yet can justify our own lies, So I believe those who believe murder is wrong, can think themselves out of being responsible for the murders they commit. I have not heard any killer who has not a reason why it's ok that they killed.
Even the "self-defense" defense irks me. As long as we feel it's ok to kill under certain circumstances, then killing will never be in itself wrong. Because a killer will always find a circumstance that allows him to kill justifiably.

Though i completely disagree with Bush. i can understand that from his point of view, he is absolutely doing the right thing. And as long as he can't see that murdering children is NEVER justifiable, we can't ever come to any sort of understanding.
