Just have your random chatter here...

message 2: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) Maybe we should start coming here to talk when we launch into chatter-mode. Have you noticed that a few of the topics (Vampires, Werewolves, for instance) have over a hundred posts, and more than half of them are us? HA! LOL

message 3: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) I was thinking about some way we could chat without getting completely off-topic on a thread! :)

message 4: by Lacey (new)

Lacey | 571 comments Mod
we'll just have to make sure we just talk about that topic...we can do it!

message 5: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) Yep! At least here, we don't have to worry about it. I wish there was some way we could make the thread instant message, so I won't have to refresh the page a lot. (Oh, by the way, I added the Brad and Becca story to my favorites, so I'll be able to find it easily!)

I know what you mean...

Really? I feel honored. Your really enjoying it?

message 7: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) Yeah! Of course, I will say I've skimmed some, but the farther I get, the more I don't want to do that and the more I actually read the story! :) Seriously, the whole stalker part would make a great book or movie. I think maybe you and the author should collaborate and maybe turn it into an actual novel. Kind of like how P.C. and Kristin Cast coauthor books. I'd buy it! I can already think of a great title: "FOLLOWED." :)

message 8: by Lacey (new)

Lacey | 571 comments Mod
You know I've always wondered how they both write these books, guess I know! LoL! And great choice of Title I'll have to let Phyllis think it over. She's really cool person, you'd like her.

message 9: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) It's so cool actually knowing authors! To me, it feels like I'm meeting rockstars! I've actually talked with Tera Lynn Childs, the author of Forgive My Fins. I'm a member of her Splash Team, where I help promote her book. I've got bookmarks and mermaid tattoos I'm supposed to hand out to whoever might be interested. So far, I haven't given away any, but I really need to!

message 10: by Lacey (new)

Lacey | 571 comments Mod
I know what you mean, They're my rockstars. I seriously want to meet Jennifer Murgia, author of Angel Star one day...

Really? I didn't know that, that is very interesting. Cool! Though I could do less with the slang to be honest.

message 11: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) Me too. When I heard the characters actually using "Easy Peasy Japanesy," I wanted to slap myself in the face with the book. :D I read on a review on Amazon where someone found the word skillz typed into the book. Skillz--in a published book!
Anyway, on another House of Night-related note, are your copies of the books loaded with typos and grammatical errors?

message 12: by Lacey (new)

Lacey | 571 comments Mod
I haven't really noticed, I mean I can't get past the slang...most likely yes though...LoL!

message 13: by Garrett (last edited Jul 09, 2010 10:35PM) (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) My copies are loaded with mistakes! It's like I picked up ARC copies instead! Do they not have editors? I mean, I just thought that was the editor's job--to EDIT a book. And Tempted described two of the characters wrong, but I'm going to quit nitpicking. :) This is completely unrelated, but you've given books away before on here, right?

message 14: by Lacey (last edited Jul 09, 2010 10:36PM) (new)

Lacey | 571 comments Mod
Just once but I'm going to do it again.

message 15: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) I was thinking about, in the "swap" section, I should post some books I don't want anymore or might not read. Thirst Volume 2, a Morganville Vampires book, and Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter. I really don't think I'll ever read them, and they're almost brand new, so I was thinking I might swap them.

Lacey | 571 comments Mod
I've got rid of Ash that way, I hated that book...anywho it works!!

message 17: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) How does it work? I've never sent anyone books before, I've just received them. :)

message 18: by Lacey (new)

Lacey | 571 comments Mod
You just put the books you want to get rid up by clicking on the book that says you own and then it gives you the option to add to bookswap and you put yes and then you have to wait for someone to offer to get it and then they will pay for the shipping through Goodreads, when you have someone want to recieve it let me know and I'll explain in furhter detail.

message 19: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) Okay! Wow--you're extremely helpful! Thanks! :)

Lacey | 571 comments Mod
Your Welcome!! Need any help with anything else?

message 21: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) Hmm... I don't think so. :) But you've been a great help with what I did need! I've already got some books posted up!

message 22: by Lacey (new)

Lacey | 571 comments Mod
Oooo!!! Nice and that was fast. I need to look at some of the books they have on there...

message 23: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) I've been going on there looking for Daughters of the Moon books, but they don't have any. I want to buy the whole set, since most of the ones I do have are falling apart. The Barnes and Noble around here doesn't have any of them, except the omnibus they just released. :(

message 24: by Lacey (new)

Lacey | 571 comments Mod
I have most of them and was thinking about getting rid of them...

Oh and looky here Daughters of the Moon Volume 1 (Daughters of the Moon, #1-3) by Lynne Ewing might be something you'd want...

message 25: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) Oh, that's the one they have here at the Barnes and Noble! I was thinking about getting and still might.
If I ever get paid, and you do decide to get rid of them, I'll definitely swap with you. I don't even have any to pay shipping! ;D And I was supposed to get a job this summer. But I have a slight aversion to anything that requires...working? Lol!

Alrighty!! All my books are hardcover though...I had a job for over a year but I had to quite in may due to my health...

message 27: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) I'm sorry! :( Are you okay? Is everything alright?

message 28: by Lacey (new)

Lacey | 571 comments Mod
I'm fine it's not a life threatening problem but I've been dealing with it since last December...

message 29: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) I'm sorry! I had a health problem a few Christmases ago. My appendix started acting up on Christmas Eve, so I had emergency surgery and was in the hospital on Christmas Day. :( That was one Christmas I'll never forget!

message 30: by Lacey (new)

Lacey | 571 comments Mod
I've never had problems with mine but that had to have sucked, I mean Christmas Day!! Me sorry...Stupid bodies fail us at all the wrong times. You know last semester of my college I had surgery and had to miss a day of class for Student Development and my teacher ended up giving me a B in class because I was gone a day....ruined my GPA I'm now at a 3.8...

message 31: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) Well, that doesn't seem fair! It seems logical that a college would have something to help you out in a situation like that!

message 32: by Lacey (new)

Lacey | 571 comments Mod
Well they have a place you can call and such but it just isn't worth my time...I'm tired of dealing with my school right now...

message 33: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) Me, too! The high school I go to had its principal called back to Afghanistan, and the year that just passed had an entire new administration except for one person, and they've changed the whole school into a place no one can stand. It took longer than necessary just for me to fill out a pass, get the teacher to sign, clock in and later clock out--all to get a drink of water!

message 34: by Lacey (new)

Lacey | 571 comments Mod
That's ridiculous! Interesting though...how do they see it's better?! Anywho's all I know is I'm just glad it's summer and I don't have to worry about school. I took the summer off but I go back in the fall full time...it's going to be sad because I won't be able to be on here much...considering the work load they put on us...if you think high schools bad just wait till you go to college. They'll give you 2 research papers, 3 projects, and 3 other papers to do and it's all due within two weeks, of course that's all my 4 classes combined but still. and don't get me started on the amount of reading done, no pleasure inteneded...sorry I was ranting there...

message 35: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) Oh, I don't think you're ranting at all! You're absolutely right! Every teacher forewarns us about college. I'm wondering if I even want to go. I'm wanting to be a novelist, but maybe I need to go somewhere with a good writing program. I've always wanted to take marine biology because I've always been obsessed with the ocean but...I don't know, there's a lot of math involved, and my final grade in geometry was...meh... :D

message 36: by Lacey (new)

Lacey | 571 comments Mod
If you really want to do Marine Biology you should, the college will help you, I had to take two math classes before I could even take college math which I start in the fall...I say shoot for the stars!! I want to be an editor for a book publishing company, but I know that requires me to move, which at the moment I plan to move to seattle Washington, it's going to be extremely scary to know I'll be alone, all my family will be back here in Texas...But I really want to follow my dream so I am and I think you should too!!

message 37: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) Thanks! Wow--that is some really great advice! I was going to do this program we have where we get two years of college done while we're still in high school, but I don't have the greatest of attention spans, and I don't think I could do it. My best friend stretches as far as she can to succeed, and she'd doing it, but I don't think I have the right work ethic for it. It's too late for me to apply now. I just hope it doesn't turn into one of those decisions I regret for the rest of my life.

message 38: by Lacey (new)

Lacey | 571 comments Mod
I don't think you'll regret it, I took an AP course and I regretted it I soon learned that they were way harder then college itself...bad experience with me...I'm not a slacker either I mean I ended up graduating in the top 25% of my class and we had close to a thousand in my class that graduated...I don't regret taking more AP classes so I hope you won't.

LoL! I'm sure someone will bite the bait...at least I believe they will...

message 39: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) Wow! Congratulations about the graduating at 25% of your class! Yeah, I'm taking an AP English class, mostly to do with writing.
Another big dream of mine--more like a big ego-trip--is to write a book that becomes the next big thing. Not like that's what keeps me writing--I just think that would be cool! There's one book I've been planning and have written some already that I'd like that to happen with. Maybe my "carnivorous mermaids" will leave Stephenie Meyer's "vegetarian vampires" in the dust!

message 40: by Lacey (new)

Lacey | 571 comments Mod
I would hope so, I think it's about time someone else step up and 'WoW the World' it could be you. That's the funny thing about life, you never know what's going to come next.

message 41: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) I couldn't agree with you more! :D Whoa, if you go to the swap section, every single book listed belongs to me! I am cleaning out my closet and bookshelf like crazy!

message 42: by Lacey (new)

Lacey | 571 comments Mod
Aww...your bookshelf is going to be empty...As for me I had a hard enough letting go four of my books today, my friends borrowing them...almost thought I should make up a contract but I know that's over doing it...It's hard to get rid of some of my books...

message 43: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) I feel the same way! There's some books I've listed that I haven't been so sure of. My interests tend to sway, whether mermaids, vampires, sharks, dinosaurs, you name it, and I'm afraid I might start getting back into some of the books I'm letting go. I gave up Jurassic Park a little hesitantly...

message 44: by Lacey (new)

Lacey | 571 comments Mod
LoL, It is hard...I know I put a book up for bookswap and someone wanted it but I declined them because I just couldn't give it up, so I know how you feel.

message 45: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) I was hesitant to give up Maximum Ride: MAX, but I'm starting to realize I just think I was forcing myself to like that series. The first book was good, and I hadn't read any others except MAX, and it's not that good of a book I thought long and hard about it.

message 46: by Lacey (new)

Lacey | 571 comments Mod
Hmmm...I read the first two and started the third but then put it down...I think I really wanted to like it because they were sorta like angels...

message 47: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) That's what I thought they looked like! Whoops! I added a Spanish language edition of The Lightning Thief! That is NOT the version I read! Lol! :D

message 48: by Lacey (new)

Lacey | 571 comments Mod
If you did I'd be impressed, LoL!! I better go, it's already 2:30 here and I can barely open my eyes and I have to get up at 7...I'll talk to you tomorrow...

message 49: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) Okay! Bye! It's been fun talking to you!

message 50: by Garrett (new)

Garrett (garrettgoodreads) Anyone feel like chatting? I'm bored... :)
