FA10 10.2 - Literature Map

Example- I am using Joanne Fluke as my literature map- J.K. Rowling came up. I plan on reading one of the Harry Potter books for task 10.2. I am also planing to read Harry Potter books for four other tasks. Am I allowed to claim combo points for each of the other Harry Potter books as they could have been used to complete task 10.2?
Thank you, I hope that makes sense.

Hi Arow, your question makes sense to me. Since the task states that you can only use an author once when claiming points for the task, I'm going to say --- No --- you can't claim combo points for this task using the same author.
In the example you gave above, you could only claim combo points for Task 10.2 for one of the Harry Potter books you read.
Thanks,
-Krista

Technically it you are using the author twice, but this seems to be in keeping with the spirit of the task. Once for the Task, and once for Style points.

Would this also apply to 20.7? For instance, if I read a book by an American author from 1987 for 20.7 and then I read another book by an American author from 1985 for 10.1, could I claim combo points (for 20.7) for the second book? Could I then claim combo points for another task for which I read a book by a French author published in 1987, or would that be considered two duplicates?
Sorry if this should be in the 20.7 help thread--I thought it better to jump into this conversation.

Oh yeeesh, this is starting to get complicated, isn't it? Okay --- let's step through this using the verbiage from Task 20.7:
"You may repeat this task as many times as you like, but each time you repeat it you should read a book by an author from a different country and year than the one(s)...."
I guess given the logic I applied for 10.2, then it would seem that it would be okay to use an American author for Task 20.7, and use a second American author (whose book was published in a different year than the book you used for Task 20.7) ONCE when claiming Combo points for Task 20.7.
Here's an example of how this might work:
Task 20.7: One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (US Author, Published 1962)
Task 20.8 (Non-Fiction Book): In Cold Blood (US Author, Published 1966)
+5 Combo Points Task 20.7 (US Author, publ 1966)
-------------------
After you claimed thee Combo points shown above, no other US authors coud be used for Combo points for Task 20.7.
Does that make sense?
I'm going to count on you guys to PLEASE provide complete explanations when claiming all points for these tasks as I can see this season is going to be a doozy!

Yes, that does make sense. And the scoring is going to be challenging. Tip of the hat to you, Krista. I'll try to be precise in my reporting.

Go to Literature Map and type in an author whose work you read this summer (June, July, and August). Read a book by another author who comes up on the literature map. While you can repeat this task as many times as you like, you must continue to use the first literature map that you created. Additionally, you must select a different author to read each time you repeat this task. State the author you used to create your Literature Map when claiming points.
