Sandra | 25908 comments Glad we could brighten your night!!! I know what time you were peeking!! LOL. What was your son doing up at that time of night?

message 52: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments LOL! We did have a helluva time. And, somehow, managed to actually do a lot of reading as well. :D

message 53: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments And ... I think we might'a broken a GR record for most posts created within a single thread each day/night we were reading. LOL! I just can't shut up and when I have someone "locked" to their computer with me ... well, hell, you're just asking for it then. God help ya! hehe Nah, that was one of the best parts of the whole thing - chatting with Sandra. :D Reading alone now just isn't as much fun as it used to be. I'm going to tell Jess and Kelley Anne they've ruined it for me from now on. LOL!

Sandra | 25908 comments LOL.

I read it AFTER...in fact, not long before I posted. At the time of my post, he had already gone to bed...

I do love summer vacation though cause I can stay up late (r)! As don't have to wake anyone for school in the morning!

message 56: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments A likely story Judithe. LOL.

Sure we shouldn't have a little whip action happening? I'm sure I could get Steph to break it out. *slinks off with manical laughter*

message 57: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments As long as it's cracking in YOUR direction!!!! lol!

message 58: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Heh! What would be the fun in that?

message 59: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments Sandra wrote: "Heh! What would be the fun in that?"
It all depends on your point of view (or...whipholder has the most fun, and sideliners can just lean back and snicker at others' comeuppance!)(how's that for an old-fashioned word!!!)

message 60: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments It's a good one, and so descriptive. LOL.

message 61: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments LMAO!!! Don't go all BDSM on us now guys.

message 62: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments I AM reading Desire Unchained at the moment...nuff said!

message 63: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments OMG! You are TOO much! And yeah, now I can understand a bit better where all that was coming from.

Laura Lulu (lauralulu) | 1603 comments Judithe wrote: "I AM reading Desire Unchained at the moment...nuff said!"

Me too. I'm a prude. I am not a fan of the BDSM. I'm only a third or so through the book, so maybe? I will end up being happier with it later...

Oh, me too. Totally. So not looking forward to the 6:30am alarm 5 days a week. Ugh.

For some reason, the start of both these books was slow, but quite enjoyed them from a later point! BDSM in 2 wasn't super-hard core, and pretty much relevant to the story, so didn't bother me so much.

I've become a reader that will read EVERYTHING that I come upon in English (though more is available so I can be more selective in what I buy) That said, the DaVinci Code is one book I still haven't managed to read through!

message 67: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Judithe, DaVinci Code was interesting, (I did do fine arts at school, and I did know about the nasty Opus Dei people before the book, LOL) but certainly not worth the hype when it came out.

I thought it was more clever at linking so much outlandish stuff, than being a very good book. You could almost see the movie script as you read the book.

message 68: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments I thought it seemed like a good idea, but really couldn't get into it...one of the few books I've just set down and said, "Enough." If I didn't have so many other interesting things to read, I might have stuck with it longer...oh well...save it for a slow month!

message 69: by Thenia (new)

Thenia | 977 comments Great idea! I always thought that a list like that was a must!

Suggestion: I entered a couple of books earlier and noticed that there isn't a "Mystery" category in the genre section. How about adding one? I entered it in the "Other" tab, but still. It's a big category, or doesn't anyone read mysteries anymore?

Apart from that, great job on what's been done so far! :)

message 70: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Thenia, the focus of the group is Paranormal & Urban Fantasy.

Thanks for adding books to the database. We don't mind the odd mystery book being added, as I'm sure we've all read Mysteries, but we want as many PNR & UF books added first as we can get.

The point of the database is to assist all of us in choosing books for challenges when we can't find the right book. Such as for the "I Spy" challenge or the "Football" challenge at RRRC.

message 71: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments I was just adding books and noticed one thing we might want to change. In challenges, we are usually allowed to ignore "a, an, the" in titles. The DB states about putting "the" at the end of the title. I think we should do that for "a/an" as well...

What do you think?

message 72: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Good idea Judithe!

message 73: by Steph, Serious series addict (last edited Dec 26, 2010 02:36AM) (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Definitely. I'll pop over and fix it, if Just Mad hasn't already. :)

ETA: All done.

message 74: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Sorry I didn't have time, but I was coming back to it!

But you beat me to it. LOL.

message 75: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments No worries, figured one of us would get 'er done. :)

message 76: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments I'd a done it...but not sure how to change the form! Thanks for being such speedy whizzes!

message 77: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments NP! :)

message 78: by Literary Ames (last edited Apr 23, 2011 06:49PM) (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments I just posted this over in RRRC:

I don't know how reliable this is but Shelfari has a way of searching books by character name, e.g. Michael http://www.shelfari.com/characters/michael

And just replace the name in the address to find other characters.

Jennifer The Forgetful Fairy Queen (TheForgetfulFaerieQueen) | 4 comments You are my new HERO!! Brilliant!! I bow to the master....ummm yeah can't say enough. I have added one book so far. Will check all my books from now on. YAY.

message 80: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Thanks for the link, Ames. That'll come in handy for many, I'm sure.

And, thanks to everyone who has and continues to add to our database here @ SOS. :D

message 81: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments Too COOL!! Thanks, Ames!!!

message 82: by Lindy (new)

Lindy (lindylee) | 18 comments This is not an easy one. Has it been done before? What number won? I couldnt' see the spread sheets on AOL, have to try something else.

message 83: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments Lindy, sorry but I'm a little confused by your post. This thread is about a database of books with information about author, setting, main characters, type of paranormal, etc in the story. Ames added a link to search another database for names (which is really cool!)

Hope you can get to see the spreadsheets/contest you're looking for!

message 84: by Lindy (new)

Lindy (lindylee) | 18 comments i think i posted something to another group instead of this one, i dont'have a spreadsheet nowr know how to use one

message 85: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)
