Tom Hansen (scarhoof) I just found this out, but apparently The Windup Girl is available as an ebook. Paolo posted on his website http://windupstories.com/ that he uses webscription to sell his DRM free ebooks! http://www.webscription.net/p-1121-th...

$6, DRM free, plus lots of other Night Shade Books available there! I already bought Windup and I think I'll be ordering some of those others I've had my eye on that aren't available in Kindle for format.

Sandi (sandikal) | 1212 comments I purchased a copy of The Stress of Her Regard by Tim Powers from an independent bookseller. I also downloaded Cory Doctorow's For the Win free from his website. I bought the hardcover of For the Win for my son, so I didn't feel guilty about the free download so I can read it on my Nook.

Since I can read epub and pdf books on my Nook, I now do a Google search for ebooks that are not available from Barnes and Noble. one of the things I'm finding though is that ebooks from sources other than B&N are sometimes poorly formatted. I'm really enjoying The Stress of Her Regard, but the formatting is so bad, it's hard to read. The text is really faint and there are page changes in odd places. It really looks awful. On the other hand, I've downloaded some books from Baen Free Library and they seem to be okay. It's really hit or miss with non-Nook books.

Scott (smrathburn) | 48 comments I was going to follow Tom's suggestion but just found the Windup girl is now available on Kindle! This may be a few books behind in the Sword and Laser list but the Kindle has helped me get through some good books like Bitter seeds and Boneshaker.

Great news, thanks for the tip on this. I wanted to read, but if not on Kindle I am having a real problem buying paper lately. On the other hand, my daughter just got a marketing job at Simon and Shuster, and has started sending us boxes of books. First shipment due in soon, curious to see whats in there.
