Helping my husband find a book that he can't remember:
i think the story was based around the relationship between a farmer and his worker/servant/slave.
At first the farmer doesnt trust his worker and treats him like shit and might not even speak to him but by the end they develop a relationship to the point they go hunting together.
At the end of the story they are going hunting and the worker has to ride in the bed of a truck while the farmer drives. I think the worker is standing up either pointing stuff out or just looking around and they hit a bump in the road and a shotgun in the cab of the trucks goes off killing the worker in the back.
