UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments For those of us continuing the Stud Club Trilogy by Tessa Dare, this thread will be devoted to a discussion for Twice Tempted by a Rogue (Stud Club, #2) by Tessa Dare

message 2: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (ghemomma) | 900 comments Oh good... I've already read it but I'd be happy to discuss this one and see how many other people felt the way I did about it!

message 3: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments I'll be starting it today :)

message 4: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (ghemomma) | 900 comments I look forward to hearing your thoughts especially!

message 5: by Yaseena (new)

Yaseena I really want to read this one, but I'm working my way through the first series before I start The Stud Club series. I'd be eager to hear responses to this one. I read the first chapter online as a preview and it seemed intriguing. I got about a 1/4 way through the first in the series before switching gears to the first series as I mentioned, but this one sounds great!

message 6: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (ghemomma) | 900 comments Yaseena I really enjoyed her first series! I hope you are liking it as well.

BJ Rose (bjrose) | 848 comments Waiting for this one to arrive from Amazon - my delay, not theirs.

message 8: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments No worries, BJ. It was a last minute decision to have a group read, Heidi's idea actually.

message 9: by Katherine (new)

Katherine | 828 comments I'll be reading this one but not till September. It My "T" in September. I will pipe in then if that is ok?

message 10: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (last edited Aug 06, 2010 10:37AM) (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Absolutely, it's ok. Another thought is that the next book, Three Nights with a Scoundrel also starts with T so if you wanted to, you could read Twice Tempted in August if it fits in with your other reading challenges and use Three Nights for September.

Carol Cork *Young at Heart Oldie* (httpsrakesandrascalswordpresscom) | 2140 comments I'm hoping to order "Twice Tempted by a Rogue" next week.

message 12: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments I've only read chapter 1 so far, but it seems like it'll be good.

Oh UM you are too smart. I will do just that.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments **smiles** It's nice to be appreciated! LOL

message 15: by Katherine (new)

Katherine | 828 comments Well Walmart had the 3rd book "Three" but not the second "TWice". Bummer will have to go to the bookstore tomorrow gosh darn it. ;)

message 16: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments LOL!!! I wish they kept them on the shelves a little longer! But I guess they don't have a lot of room so they have to rotate quickly.

message 17: by [deleted user] (new)

OH BOY! I will be starting this today hopefully!

Will have to check wally world for the 3rd book.

message 18: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (last edited Aug 10, 2010 07:27AM) (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments I just finished it and liked it pretty well, but I will say there's something... SO FAR... about Tessa Dare's heroines that don't quite grab me as well as some author's leading females do.

message 19: by Katherine (new)

Katherine | 828 comments Finally found this book at Waldenbooks.

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

I am on chapter 6 and loving this book far...unless things take a drastic turn for the worse its lookin' ok by me!

message 21: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments I really liked the way it ended. Meredith was annoying with her constantly refusing to marry Rhys, but it all made sense to me in the end.

message 22: by Katherine (new)

Katherine | 828 comments I'm only on chapter 3, but enjoying it so far. I so love Rhys.

message 23: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments I'm a big Rhys fan, too, Katherine!

message 24: by Katherine (new)

Katherine | 828 comments I've only read about 48 pages. Rhys has asked her to marry him and she is a bit surprised and so was I. LOL I can see at this point why she won't marry him, but by other statements I've read I can assume this isn't the last time he asks. I'm really liking Tessa Dare's writing style so far in this book.

Jessa ♥ EvilDarkSide (metalgirl80) I'm around pg.100 and I'm enjoying it. Not sure why it got so many bad reviews. I like Rhys alot. And I like Meredith's strong personality.

message 26: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments I liked it, too. Meredith started getting on my nerves with her independence and unwillingness to marry Rhys, but in the end it all makes sense.

Jessa ♥ EvilDarkSide (metalgirl80) Yeah, Dhes....Meredith is a little too strong-willed. I'm glad we find out what keeps her from accepting Rhys...especially since she's obviously in love with the man. I wanted to cry for Rhys when he went up to where he was building the cottage and all the hard work he had done was destroyed. *sniffles*

message 28: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Oh, that was heartbreaking, Jessa. And there he was just rebuilding it... wow.

Jessa ♥ EvilDarkSide (metalgirl80) Yeah, that man has a strong will. And his restraint is fairly remarkable. I would have been kicking some butt if I were in his position. I can't believe the town is treating him so badly.

message 30: by Katherine (new)

Katherine | 828 comments I'm finding the dialogue between these two very funny. Rhys almost has a child like thinking that is very dear. Meredith I think is bewildered by his actions or lack of actions at the moment. LOL

message 31: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Katherine, I agree with that. Rhys is so pragmatic, isn't he? I love how to him, everything is about fate and destiny.

message 32: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments And the role reversal - he wanting to wait for marriage, she not even wanting to wait for a bed.

message 33: by [deleted user] (last edited Aug 20, 2010 10:56AM) (new)

Ok, I for the life of me can not, simply CAN NOT figure out why this book got such bad reviews, I am about 1/2 thru(not much time for reading these days) and I am absolutley LOVING this book! LOVE RHYS! The dialog is great...always my fave part to a book! Hoping to finish up this weekend when it rains!

message 34: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl (ghemomma) | 900 comments Heidi, for me it was Meredith that turned me off. I loved Rhys, I just didn't think Meredith was deserving of him. I didn't like the way she slept with several guys (she just seemed very casual about it, which I don't care for in a historical romance), I didn't like the way she drank alcohol and it seemed (to me) that Rhys didn't care for her to do so, and she just didn't respect (is that the right word?) Rhys's wishes to be honorable.

message 35: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments I agree with you, Heidi, I really liked this book! There were things about Meredith I didn't care for, but overall I enjoyed the story and FINALLY found a deep, dark secret that really was deep and dark and made me able to forgive the things I didn't like.

message 36: by Katherine (new)

Katherine | 828 comments I finished!!!! For me I didn't mind Meredith. I understood her hesitation not to marry Rhys. She was unsure of his love and she had secrets he needed to know. They were a good pair I thought, completed each other and probably would never have a dull minute.

message 37: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments I think that finding out WHY Meredith was so hesitant really made the difference for me. But I agree, I liked it!

message 38: by Katherine (new)

Katherine | 828 comments I'm anxious to discover who Leo's killer is, and find out about the mysterious past of Jullian.

message 39: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments 9 more days, Katherine! LOL

message 40: by Carol Cork *Young at Heart Oldie* (last edited Aug 27, 2010 12:29AM) (new)

Carol Cork *Young at Heart Oldie* (httpsrakesandrascalswordpresscom) | 2140 comments Just finished and really enjoyed it. Like others, I can't understand why it got such bad reviews. Rhys - well what can I say? He's my type of hero - big, strong, scarred but tender underneath. Meredith irritated me, at first, with her indecision regarding Rhys but once her 'deep dark secret' was finally revealed, the reasons for her actions became clear. I also liked the dialogue between the two. I am looking forward to reading 'Three Nights with a Scoundrel' to resolve the mystery surrounding Leo's death and to find out more about Julian Bellamy.

message 41: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments I feel exactly as you do, Carol. As I said in my review, I LOVED that Tessa Dare gave us a deep, dark secret that truly explained why they both were as they were.

message 42: by [deleted user] (new)

Oops, I already started Three Nights....oh well I won't discuss until everyone else has read. I'm not far into it, but liking it so far.

message 43: by BJ Rose (new)

BJ Rose (bjrose) | 848 comments No bad review from me - yes, I did get a tad irritated with Meredith when she wanted to keep any relationship with Rhys at the lust-only level, but she couldn't just toss aside everything she'd achieved over the past 12 years on a hope that her dreams had come true; this was where I thought Rhys should have developed some understanding of why she took the stance she did. And all this was before the big revelations, which really explained a lot of their shared childhood history.

I also liked what the author did with the secondary characters, even though one of the outcomes was somewhat of a surprise. And like everyone else, I'm looking forward to Three Nights, which is calling to me from my bookshelf, but I'm determined to wait until September 1st

message 44: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments I'm glad you liked it, too, BJ! I think I know which secondary character was a surprise. If we're thinking of the same person, I never saw that coming, but after looking back, there were signs for sure.

message 45: by BJ Rose (new)

BJ Rose (bjrose) | 848 comments I felt the same, Dhes, after the fact - that wonderful hindsight! Same thing about Meredith's revelation - once she started leading up to it, all sorts of little things started clicking into place, but before that, my focus was elsewhere; good job on the author's part!

message 46: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments I so totally agree! In my review I mentioned that it was the power of their "deep, dark secret" that made me forgive her stubbornness! It's not often the "deep, dark secret" really is deep and dark enough to warrant their behaviors!

message 47: by Kate (new)

Kate (literarykate) | 95 comments Loved this one as well! Can't wait to read Three Nights.

message 48: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Three Nights is wonderful! I'm madly in love with Julian *sigh*

message 49: by Beverly (new)

Beverly | 64 comments I really enjoyed Rhys in this novel. Meredith did frustrate me until her revelation.

message 50: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments My sentiments exactly, Beverly. Once it was all out, I understood her, so much better.
