Johnny Depp, Alan Rickman, Patrick Stewart, Kate Mulgrew (yes I know there both from Star Trek but if you see them in their other roles they are amazing actors and capable of doing anything they want), Maggie Smith and Meryl Streep.

Naz (nazz) Are you scared of needles?

message 160: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
Nope

message 161: by [deleted user] (new)

Depends on where you're planning to put it... But no in general.

message 162: by Claudia (new)

Claudia (claudiavstoomanybooks) | 1779 comments Not if I'm the one holding the needle.

message 163: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith I hate needles.

I don't freak out when I get injections, but waiting to get them and thinking about how much it's going to hurt is torture.

message 164: by Naz (new)

Naz (nazz) Chickens :P

I don't mind them but when I was asked to go for stem cell donor check I bailed. It wasn't so much the getting a blood test, that's the easy part but the thought of been hooked up to a machine for 6 hours freaked me out.

message 165: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Is anyone afraid of the dentist?

For some reason this has never, ever bothered me. The only thing I hate is having injections at the dentist -those are extra painful!

message 166: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
I am TERRIFIED of the dentist! I start crying and having panic attacks and everything!

message 167: by Naz (new)

Naz (nazz) I used to be terrified when I was a kid, I had a bad experience. Now I just have deep loathing for them. Sorry to anyone here who is a dentist.

message 168: by [deleted user] (new)

I actually really badly wanted to be a dentist as a child. I had this amazing dentist when I was young. He use to show you how the tools work and stuff before proceding. And he was just always gentle and kind, so I guess that's where I got it from.

Not afraid of them at all, but I do agree with lauren that the injections are extra painful! I'm also not looking forward to having my wisdom teeth removed...

message 169: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
The only thing dentistry is usefull at is their tools. We use it in excavations and for cleaning dirt out of bones :P

message 170: by Naz (new)

Naz (nazz) Actually having my wisdoms removed was relatively painless. That was the best dentist appointment I had.

message 171: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Well, you get to be unconscious for the whole thing :)

For me the after effects of having my wisdom teeth removed were dreadful! My mouth hurt a lot and I had a doctor's note for sick leave because of the pain and all the pain killers they gave me.

message 172: by Naz (new)

Naz (nazz) I went for a family get together the day after the op. Didn't have swelling or pain, I would have said people over exaggerate the experience but I saw my sister withering in pain when she had hers done. I was just lucky :)

message 173: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Unfortunately for me my wisdom teeth were in odd positions (one lying flat on its side) requiring things like having to saw the tooth in half and take it out in two pieces. So yeah, after that I needed that week off and I spent it eating yoghurt.

message 174: by Naz (new)

Naz (nazz) Ouch

message 175: by [deleted user] (new)

Aften mine were "extracted" (read "butchered") I lost a week of my life from all that pain killers. It's kinda unfair to be that high on perscription meds and not remember what you did...

message 176: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jevine) | 939 comments No, though I do agree about the injections being painful

message 177: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks guys, well I'm hoping my experience will be less painful
I had a friend who came back to school after she had them taken out the morning! CRAZY!!

message 178: by Naz (new)

Naz (nazz) What were your 3 favourite classic movies as a kid?

Mine were Marry Poppins, Alice in Wonderland and The Wizard of Oz.

message 179: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
Maybe not classic, but things I remember watching over and over as a kid:
*Mary Poppins
*The addams family
*Do that thing you do

message 180: by Riana (new)

Riana | 397 comments My favourite movie was Alice in Wonderland... I can't name 3 because that was the only movie I ever wanted to watch!

message 181: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Also struggling to come up with 3, but The Never Ending Story was definitely one of them.

I also watched quite a few Lassie movies, but considering the fact that I would cry my eyes out every time I watched one, I don't think I could call them favourites.

message 182: by [deleted user] (new)

Mary Poppins for sure
Clueless... I knew all the words!
The Little Mermaid.

I haven't been on for a while so I will respond to all three questions.

Needles: absolutely not afraid of them. Which is a very good thing because my arteries are very resilient and tough so whenever they have to draw blood they have to soak my hands and sometimes my feet in hot water so the arteries come up to the surface and use special needles to prick them. Because if they use normal needles in my arm they will just push the arteries aside and not actually pierce them so they can draw blood.

Dentist: I am scared shitless of the dentist. Untill a year ago my mummy went with me to hold my hand and I am 35. One of my molars was rotten when it came through as a child and they had to put a crown on it when I was very young and I was in the chair for 3 hours and they hurt me a lot. So I have a bit of a childhood trauma there. Also it is sort of a control issue. I don't mind medical people doing things on my body as long as I can see what they are doing and that is a bit of a problwm with a dentist. Also my wisdom teeth were a big problem. In my lower jaw they were lying flat like with Lauren and in my upper jaw they were pushing the molar next to it out with it. In the Netherlands you only get a local aneastetic. I did have a major reaction to it and I was delirious with fever for a couple of days. My mum even thought my cheek would burst because it was so swollen and I was bruised form my chin to the inside of my ear. The second time went better but then the stitches got infected because they were supposed to dissolve on their own but they didn't.

My favorite movies:
Scrooge but the musical version were he goes to hell
Sound of Music
Sissi trilogy as a child I loved the dresses as a YA I loved the romance and now I love both and the memoories and traditions we have around this trilogy.

I love bed knobs and broomsticks. I only saw that movie for the first time when I was a teenager and that didn't count for the question.

It's been ages since I watched SW, but I think I remember something like that. It's got something to do with strong emotions leading to the dark side.

Edit:
Seems the issue is more complex with things based on the timeframe and whether referring to the movies or novels set in the universe - read more here. Seems later the prohibition is taken away.
