Emma (emmauk007) | 1081 comments Ok New Question

What is the most memorable place you have ever been to and why?

message 252: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (kelstretch) Oh I loved ponta d'oura in Mozambique. The ocean and beaches are beautiful, the diving is excellent, dolphins everywhere, the people there are friendly,it's safe as can be and the culture is so rich and traditional. It can be a bit of a shock when you walk through the market and see how these people live and how they struggle but they never complain.

I would go again anytime

A certain hallway in Westminster Abbey in London. When I was walking there I found a grave that only said that it was the grave of several monks who died during the Great Plague. It was such a nice spot and for some reason this grave moved me. I don't know why even to this day but it still does. Somehow it made the tragedy of the Great Plague real to me. It wasn't the most beautiful place but it was the most memorable.

Emma (emmauk007) | 1081 comments Love the pics Lu.

I think mine would have to be my visit to Didyma in Turkey and also the Phosperous caves in Marmara, absolutely beautiful and when you dive into the water in the caves the water turns a luminescdnt pink.

When I was on the Greek island of Corfu a few years ago I had to stop in Kalami, where the Durrells lived, as I grew up on Gerald Durrell's books (My Family & Other Animls, and Birds, Beasts & relatives). Laurence Durrell's house has been converted into a taverna and it was magical sitting on the patio where he would have sat, overlooking the stunningly beautiful bay. It really is heaven on earth.

I had that experience in the Tower in London. I know a lot about the Tudors and that time period and also about the Princes in the Tower and then to be at the place where the lives of several ended and where others were held captive. To be able to walk where they walked hundreds of years before. I don't know how to put it in words.

Sarah Maddox (sarahmaddox) The new pic is very nice. I love beach and sand pics. I once spent a few hours taking snaps of footprints in various lights. The best was at sunset, when the sunlight glowed on some of the raised bits of sand around the toes. :)

Question: If you could only have 1 meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

message 281: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Sushi!

message 282: by Crusader (new)

It would be a pretty short life, but it has to be pizza!

message 283: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
Hehehe

I would say Biltong or Pringles... I can't choose!

message 284: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Lol, that's not a meal Lu! And you're probably have an even shorter life than Crusader.

message 285: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
Haha fine I choose cheesy potato bake with mushroom and bacon. And if that is till not a meal + some ribs :)

message 286: by [deleted user] (new)

You're all making me hungry!!!
I like the Sushi idea Lauren... but too much raw fish might not be such a good idea after a while. Mmmmm I'd have to say soup. Veggie Soup... either that or a lovely pasta!

message 292: by [deleted user] (new)

Regina (I like the plain stuff lol)

message 293: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Hawaiian - I like to keep it simple too :)

message 294: by [deleted user] (new)

Lol

I love the Nacho's pizza, Tiri and Siciliana from Pizza Perfect :)

message 296: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith I like to try different pizza toppings. I had a butter chicken pizza that was wonderful. Also pizza with roasted walnuts, pears and blue cheese. But Hawaiian remains my favourite :)

OMG I had a tuna one once! So awesome!

Lauren F says her fav is just a plain mushroom one.

message 298: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith Not a big tuna fan, unless it's raw. And it reminds of this really, really horrible pizza I had the other day. Got invited to someone's house for pizza and a movie, and they'd made two deep-dish style pizzas and thrown everything onto it - peppers, bacon, shrimp, tuna, onions, tomato, olives, chutney... And from the taste, some extra salt. SO GROSS. Luckily we'd bought some normal pizzas as well; I couldn't eat more than one slice of that monstrosity.

message 299: by Lu (new)

Lu | 12672 comments Mod
OMG that is overkill pizza! Ewwww

My new fav is that Siciliana. It has this nice tomato base, with anchovies and olives. I recently started eating olives out of nowhere, so loving it!

message 300: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Smith I also got into olives like that - didn't want to eat them, then suddenly loved them, took tiny tupperwares of olives to work to snack on.

Yaseen loves that kind of pizza too, with chilli. A couple of restaurants here make it, but it's usually called Napolitana or something.

I haven't had authentic Italian pizza, but I've heard it's very simple. Their pasta is the same. They wouldn't like all the toppings we put on our Italian food in SA!
