D.m. Barfield (dmbarfield) | 2 comments Hi. My name's Dana and I used to be a huge reader and trying to find more time for it again. I'm also a professional copywriter and trying to branch off into fiction. I've written a middle-grade novel for which I'm seeking an agent and the first episode of a sci-fi/romance serial that I'm publishing for Kindle. Looking forward to chatting with everyone.

Angela Smith (dandilyonfluff) | 86 comments Hello :D My name is Angela. I've been doing non fiction for a variety of publications since the late 90's. I've just recently published my first fictional book a week ago, called End of Mae.

I'm trying to go around and network, and find readers intrested in reviewing my book, and am also interested in doing reviews for my blog, dandilyonfluff.com.

I'm interested in what's going on over here, feel free to hit me up for anything. Cheers! Angela

Pamela Brown (PamelaKayNobleBrown) | 25 comments Hello everyone. I'm Pamela Kay Noble Brown and the author of "Revelations", a Christian Fiction Romance.

Even for a Christian woman, life and love is not always happiness and light. But will Melanie take a chance to love and trust again, or simply walk away?

Find out in "Revelations". You won't be able to put it down. Read your free sample online at http://www.kindleboards.com/book/?asi... . And to all, have a great weekend.

So, Hell-O.
My name is Marc Johnson and in between my bouts with chemical dependance I am a self-published writer and all around worker of words. My first book, Becoming, has been described as a profound pile of audacity or an audaciously profound pile. I always forget which.

Daniel Potter | 1 comments Hello,

I'm Dan, currently typing from Maastricht in the Netherlands. I'm a biomedical researcher at Maastricht University where I study all the slimy stuff on the inside of your veins and arteries. I'm from New England, most recently Boston. I have a love/fear relationship with books, as good novels suck me in and trap my brain until I finish them. I'm sure many of you know the feeling, open a book after dinner and the next thing you know its 2 in the morning. :D

My sister gave us a kindle for christmas this past year and suddenly all these english language books are at my finger tips. I adore it and I've read more books in the past six months than I have in five years. My tastes run the gamut of scifi and fantasy, although my current favorite series is the Dresden Files.

I'm a writer/creator myself and my current on going project is comic entitled: Walking the Lethe Volume One you can also read it on the web at: http://walkingthelethe.com

Amy Eye | 98 comments Great to have you here, Daniel!!! I have seen where the e-readers have really brought back some people to reading that have taken a break from it for quite some time. I love my e-reader, but I still love the physical books more!! (I'm a dork)

It's great that you are doing your own thing now as well! There is another group out there that will be happy to have you if you are looking for people to read and review your works once you have them completed! http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/4...

There are loads of wonderful resources and fun things to do in both groups! I hope you find them as useful and exciting as we all do!! :)

Mhairi Simpson (mhairisimpson) | 142 comments Hi everyone :)

I'm Anne-Mhairi and I'm a reader and a writer, currently doing more reading than writing if I'm perfectly honest, but I'll be releasing my first novel on 25th August!

I write fantasy, mostly YA, and there's always a fair bit of blood and magic involved. I'm also a huge fan of dragons and unicorns :D

Looking forward getting to know everyone, I'm feeling rather overwhelmed by Goodreads, there seem to be a billion people out there, but I'm sure I'll get to know you all sooner or later :D

message 136: by Amy Eye (new)

Amy Eye | 98 comments Hello again, Anne!!
And so you know, I like you even more now. I have an obsession with dragons. I even have a fairly large dragon tattoo on my back. LOVE THEM!!

message 137: by Mhairi (new)

Mhairi Simpson (mhairisimpson) | 142 comments Oh dragons ROCK!!! My worlds (yup, there's two of them - if things go really wrong there'll be three) have really BIG dragons. My heroine gets to ride the biggest one - he's her only friend before the story starts :D He's got four horns, likes having his muzzle scratched and can heal wounds with magic.

Love the idea of the tattoo!! I've got an ankh (key of life) on my back - how big is your dragon? Is it flying, breathing fire...?

message 138: by Amy Eye (new)

Amy Eye | 98 comments My dragon is about six inches by six inches on my lower back. It's the top of the dragon with it's wings spread out, and the body morphs into some tribal designs at the bottom...it's pretty kick a@#!! I also have a tattoo of pixie on my left arm...she is adorable. I actually had a friend who like my pixie tat so much he made me a wooden wall plaque that he carved himself of her for me!

I love everything to do with ancient Egypt, so I love the ankh tat! That is fantastic! And I also have two worlds that I actually try to live in - the second one I uncreatively named Amy-land. There are no politics allowed in Amy-land and people are required to carry magic wands and own a dragon.

message 139: by Mhairi (new)

Mhairi Simpson (mhairisimpson) | 142 comments Hahahahahaha Amy-land sounds AWESOME!!! And so does the dragon!!!

I have to have magic in my stories - what's the point of being able to make stuff up if there's no magic?

message 140: by Anagha Uppal (last edited Jul 03, 2011 06:02PM) (new)

Anagha Uppal Hi all!
Joined a couple days ago, thanks to Amy :)
I'm a teenage bookworm. I'm also a technology addict, for everything except books (for which I have to have a physical copy). I'm old-school like that. Like writing (amateurish) reviews.

I wrote a couple of (not bad) short stories in 5th and 6th grade, but lost my imagination in high school, so no writing for me.

message 141: by Amy Eye (new)

Amy Eye | 98 comments Great to see you in here as well, Ana!! We have fun in here as well! :)

And Anne-Mhairi - Amy-land is one of my most favoritest (I made that word up) places to be. And magic really does exist. I know it does!!

Welcome! Please write all the reviews you can. You will see that as you write them, your style will improve. Independent reviewers like yourself are critical to the success of many independent and small published authors.

I hope that you will make the jump to electronically transmitted works as well. Many classics are available electronically from sites like Gutenberg for free. Other out of print works are being reissued electronically and would not be available in print even in the largest libraries. While I am by no means suggesting you abandon your print works, I am suggesting that there are other works you might like that are only available electronically which you can read on your computer.

I checked out your profile and I am thrilled that you have chosen to join us and I look forward to your posts.

Bob Cherny

Thanks!! It's not that I can't read books on my computer. I just get distracted easily. I read a couple pages and think, Hey, while I'm on here, why don't I check my email? Or Facebook? And soon, I'm doing something completely different...

Amy Eye | 98 comments Welcome, Robert from London!! Do you find it as cool to live in London as I imagine it is??

message 147: by Robert (new)

Robert Clear (robertclear) | 6 comments Hi Amy. The part of London I live in is crowded, noisy and almost completely bereft of greenery. Though having said that, it's my natural habitat, so I quite enjoy it! :)

Whereabout are you from?

message 148: by Amy Eye (new)

Amy Eye | 98 comments I live in the Midwest in Illinois. It's nothing but a bunch of farmland, but very close to a big city. So it isn't crowded or noisy where I live, but after a short drive, I can get in as big of a crowd as I would like! :)

message 149: by Robert (new)
