(The person who reads this discussion and have not read the seventh book probably doesn't care about spoilers anyway but just to mention it, stop if you don't wanna know)
His parents were fighting and he was an outcast even before school. He met Lily and she became his first friend. He went to Hogwarts and became Slytherin and got more friends, and they unfortunately put him on the wrong track (Dark Magic, Voldemort...etc). His favourite subject was DADA, but people thought what he really liked was just the Dark Arts. He got bullied by the marauders who where awfully mean to him. Lily supported him until that day he called her a mudblood and when she was gone he realised how much she had meant for him. Then he joined the deatheaters, but surrended himself to Dumbledore when he realised Lily's life where in danger (because of him). When she died he promised Dumbledore to protect her son, Harry.
I would say that there is nothing more we need to say about Snape's life. We got all we need and could possibly ask for. ;)
I wish that people would stop wishing for more books. Obviously if she thought that it would be good and sell well she would write one. But she hasn't. I'm sorry, but there are SO many topics on us wishing for more books.

I think more books about her world would indeed sell like hotcakes, but she's made clear that she doesn't do it for money. The money from Quidditch through the ages, Fantastic Beasts and Beedle the Bard went straight to charity and I think the upcoming lexicon will do as well.
I think it will spoil the story if Harry Potter became some kind of never-ending story. I think Rowling thinks the same, or at least that a sequel/prequel/whatever would add nothing to the story.

I would love to see a book on Snape. I know his history was given during Deathly Hallows, but it could be fleshed out even more! And I'm saying this as someone who hated Snape for the first six books.

@Alicia: Oh, I hated him in the first book, then I just disliked him for a while before I started loving him after reading the fifth book I think.
I always believed that Snape was good, and the only time I really doubted it was in the seventh book when Snape fled through the window. After reading that chapter I was going to a friend who lives one hour away by bike, and I was crying te whole time, because I couldn't stand the thought that Snape actually could be evil.

But I think the characters I'd want to know more about before the series would be Snape, Sirius, and Lupin.
I also want to know about Luna after...

totally. Bellatrix is so... deliciously crazy and bloodthirsty. :)

that is AWESOME. Luna is so cool!
