William (acknud) James Herriot paints a delightful picture of the English countryside in the 1930's. He starts his tales as a new graduate with his first job and how that job builds him a family. His stories of his work with farm animals is funny, enlightening, hopeful, sad and tragic all at once. I would recommend this for anyone.

Lori (moderatrixlori) I read this book so long ago that all I remember is that I read it. I'm sure I enjoyed it though :)

Liz (hissheep) A true story - I actually packed one of my James Herriot books for him to sign when visiting in Yorkshire. Sadly, I was there the wrong day! However, I did spend the night in a B&B where the owners actually had him as a vet!
