Haha I'm bringing two quotes (she said we could do a reading). One quote is the one about semicolons by Kurt Vonnegut and the other is this little gem from Miss Dottie Parker: "Now I know the things I know; I do the things I do, and if you do not like me so, to hell, my love, with you!"

well, that class is over. My brought my quotes, but I ditched them and told a funny story about how I was afraid of Fruit Gushers Candy when I was like, 8.

Haha, okay Barb, here is the deal. In the commercials for fruit gushers, when the kid ate of piece of candy, his head turned into a watermelon or grape or whatever fruit, depending on the flavor of the candy. Being the very literal person that I am, I thought that if I ate a fruit gusher, my head would turn into a fruit. This thought terrified me to no end.

So I was an 8 year old kid afraid of a type of candy.

Haha to the MP credits. In all my viewings I only caught those the last time!

MP was the bane of my existence for the first few months I was married. Although at the time I didn't know it was MP because I had never heard of the movies. I just thought my husband randomly lost his mind when he would say (in a very bad british accent)something like "it's only a flesh wound", when he would cut himself shaving. Or "I fart in your general direction. Your mother was a hamster and your father smelled of elderberries. Go away or I shall taunt you another time." And since I really wasn't sure what the hell to say to that I just ingnored it or walked away thinking I'd married a mad man. The straw that broke the camels back for me though, was when his cousin came to visit and they came skipping/galloping into the kitchen smacking coconuts together acting as if they were riding horses and talking about some black knight or something. I was just calculating how much time it would take to pack a bag for myself and my daughter and wondering if we could get away undetected, when his cousin saw the horrified look on my face and asked if I'd ever seen a MP movie. Of course since I hadn't, they had to go out and rent the Holy Grail. And instead of thinking about running away I thought about what kind of drug and just how much of it I would have to take to enjoy the crap on screen... I'm still not a Monty Python fan, but at least I'm aware of were that paticular weirdness stems from now.

Nope, I wasn't aware of that Bun...I've only ever seen the one movie (not all of it either) and a few clips on youtube over the years. It was 11 years ago when they had me watch the movie.

Alecia, that is a great story! Growing up, I had friends who were obsessed with Monty Python. But like you, I am just not a fan.

Bun, I think The Meaning of Life was my favorite and if one cannot appreciate the humor of Monty Python...

Monty Python is the only comedy that my stepfather will tolerate. I'm fairly sure it's the only comedy that he's ever seen. As a result, his own sense of humor is very similar.

Then, Sarah Pi, for Christmas or Hanukkah or whatever the next holiday is you might exchange gifts for, go on Amazon and order him a TV series called Fawlty Towers. Should come on a couple of discs. I own it, but can't remember how many discs. Anyway, it's John Cleese from MP, and it is bloody hilarious!

I know Fawlty Towers! He may or may not be aware of it, though. South Africa didn't get television until 1976, and he simply never developed any interest in it whatsoever.

Well, I can go weeks without turning the thing on. But, I do love it deep down...

I loved A Fish Called Wanda so much. Any time it's on TV I stop to watch.

A Fish Called Wanda was a success, in my opinion, because of the fantastic work of Kevin Kline.

I love Jaime Lee too. She can scream REALLY well, but her comedic timing is great as well.

I think Kevin Kline is underrated. He was awesome in that movie. My other favorite of his was Soapdish, with Robert Downey Jr. and Elizabeth Shue and Sally Field. That's another of my favorite comedies.

I love Kevin Kline. Very funny man.

Speaking of Elisabeth Shue, has anyone ever seen her movie Molly, where she plays an autistic girl? I'm telling you, that part in the Romeo and Juliet play makes me laugh SO hard!

That's a pretty impressive list of stage roles. Apparently as movies go, his nickname is Kevin Decline, as he turns down a lot of film roles.

We had to do something similar to this exercise in one of my painting classes. It was a self-portrait expressed through still-life. It's interesting to realize that my painting would be completely different today than it was then, and that was just 3 or so years ago. I think I'm less worried about appearing "arty" now than I was then; my original still-life tried too hard to say "I am a cool bohemian artist."

Oh, and I would add my bag of pretty blue and green dice to my list.
